Hadith 680

Al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Shu`ayb al-Jawhari (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Isa b. Muhammad al-`Alawi narrated to us. He said: Abu `Amr Ahmad b. Abi Hazim al-Ghifari narrated to us. He said: `Ubaydullah b. Musa narrated to us from Sharik from Rakin b. al-Rabi` from al-Qasim b. Hassan from Zayd b. Thabit. He said
The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Surely, I have left among you the two heavyweights: (1) the Book of Allah, and (2) my progeny, my Ahl al-Bayt. Surely, they are the two vicegerents (khalifatan) after me. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pond.

قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إني تارك فيكم الثقلين: كتاب الله عز وجل وعترتي أهل بيتي، ألا وهما الخليفتان من بعدي، ولن يفترقا حتى يردا علي الحوض (2).
