Hadith 654

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. al-Hasan b. Aban narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from Muhammad b. al-Husayn al-Kinani from his grandfather from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said
Allah bestowed a book unto His Prophet (s) before death came to him and said: “O Muhammad! This book is your will to the nobleman of your family.” So, he said: “Who is the nobleman from my family, O Gabriel?” So, he said: “`Ali b. Abi Talib.” On the book were seals of gold. So, the Prophet (s) gave it to `Ali (as) and ordered him to open one of its seals and to do what is [instructed] therein. So, he (as) opened a seal, and did what was in it. Then, he gave it to his son al-Hasan (as), who opened a seal, and did what was in it. Then, he gave it to al-Husayn (as), who opened a seal, and found therein: “Take a people toward martyrdom, for they will not find martyrdom except with you. Ransom yourself for Allah.” So, he did so, and he gave it to `Ali b. al-Husayn (as). So, he opened his seal and found therein: “Be silent, stick to your house, and worship Allah until death comes to you.” So, he did so, and he gave it to Muhammad b. `Ali (as). So, he opened his seal and found therein: “Narrate to the people and give them edicts. Fear none but Allah, for none have a way to you.” Then, he gave it to me, and I opened a seal and I found therein: “Narrate to the people and give them edicts. Spread the knowledge of your Ahl al-Bayt and the honesty of your righteous forefathers. Fear none but Allah, for you are in a protective hedge.” So, I did so. Then, I will give it to Musa b. Ja`far, and then Musa will give it to the one after him; and that will continue until the rise of the Mahdi (as).
2 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن الحسن بن أبان، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن محمد بن الحسين الكناني، عن جده، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال
إن الله عز وجل أنزل على نبيه (صلى الله عليه وآله) كتابا قبل أن يأتيه الموت، فقال: يا محمد، هذا الكتاب وصيتك إلى النجيب من أهلك. فقال: ومن النجيب من أهلي، يا جبرئيل؟ فقال: علي بن أبي طالب. وكان على الكتاب خواتيم من ذهب، فدفعه النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) إلى علي (عليه السلام)، وأمره أن يفك خاتما منها، ويعمل بما فيه، ففك (عليه السلام) خاتما، وعمل بما فيه، ثم دفعه إلى ابنه الحسن (عليه السلام)، ففك خاتما، وعمل بما فيه، ثم دفعه إلى الحسين (عليه السلام)، ففك خاتما، فوجد فيه: أن اخرج بقوم (1) إلى الشهادة، فلا شهادة لهم إلا معك، واشتر نفسك لله عز وجل، ففعل، ثم دفعه إلى علي بن الحسين (عليهما السلام)، ففك خاتما فوجد فيه: اصمت، والزم منزلك، واعبد ربك حتى يأتيك اليقين، ففعل، ثم دفعه إلى محمد بن علي (عليهما السلام)، ففك خاتما فوجد فيه: حدث الناس وافتهم، ولا تخافن إلا الله، فإنه لا سبيل لاحد عليك، ثم دفعه إلي ففككت خاتما، فوجدت فيه: حدث الناس وافتهم، وانشر علوم أهل بيتك، وصدق آبائك الصالحين، ولا تخافن أحدا إلا الله، وأنت في حرز وأمان، ففعلت، ثم أدفعه إلى موسى بن جعفر، وكذلك يدفعه موسى إلى الذي من بعده، ثم كذلك أبدا إلى قيام المهدي (عليه السلام) (2).
