۞
Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab from Muhammad b. Sinan from Abi’l Jarud from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir from his father from his grandfather (as). He said
Amir al-Mu’minin (as) said: He who places himself in a position of suspicion should not blame those who think ill of him. He who keeps his secret has the choice in his own hands. Any conversation that exceeds two people will spread. Think the best of your brother’s words until what you hear from him overcomes that. Do not assume the worst of a word spoken by your brother when you can find a good interpretation for it. Seek out true brothers and increase your ties with them, for they are a resource in times of ease and a shield in times of adversity. Consult those who fear God in your matters. Love brothers according to their piety. Beware of wicked women, and be cautious even of the best among them. If they command you to do good, contradict them so they do not become bold with you regarding evil.
