Hadith 44

Ahmad b. Muhammad narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali b. Yahya narrated to us. He said: Abu Bakr b. Nafi` narrated to us. He said: Umayya b. Khalid narrated to us. He said: Hamid b. Salama narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Zayd narrated to us from `Ali b. al-Husayn. He said
I heard my father narrate from his father Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) narrate: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: O `Ali! You are the deputy and the Imam of my Nation. Whoever obeys you has obeyed me, and whoever disobeys you has disobeyed me.

سمعت أبي يحدث عن أبيه أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السلام) أنه قال: سمعت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) يقول: يا علي، والذي فلق الحبة وبرأ النسمة، إنك لافضل الخليقة بعدي. يا علي، أنت وصيي وإمام أمتي، من أطاعك أطاعني، ومن عصاك عصاني (4).
