Imam Ali (AS) said, Obey the one who is above you and the one who is under you will obey you; rectify your inner self and Allah will rectify your outer state.
الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : أطِعْ مَنْ فَوْقَكَ يُطِعْكَ مَنْ دُونَكَ وَ أصْلِحْ سَريرَتَكَ يُصْلِحِ اللّهُ علانِيَتَكَ

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who does not commence with sincere intention in his obedience [and worship] is not successful in gaining rewards.
