Hadith 1979
1. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Safwan ibn Yahya from ibn Muskan from Muhammad al- Halabiy who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Zakat and jewelry. He (the Imam) said, ‘Zakat is not due on jewelries.”’
1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْحُلِيِّ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ قَالَ لاَ.

2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Safwan ibn Yahya from ibn Muskan from Muhammad al- Halabiy who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about Zakat and jewelry. He (the Imam) said, ‘Zakat is not due on jewelries.’”
2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْحُلِيِّ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ قَالَ لاَ.

3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Safwan ibn Yahya from Ya’qub ibn Shu’ayb who has said the following
“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), if there is Zakat on jewelries. He (the Imam) said, ‘If so nothing will remain thereof.’”
3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الْحُلِيِّ أَ يُزَكَّى فَقَالَ إِذاً لاَ يَبْقَى مِنْهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ.

Hadith 1982
4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Rifa’ah who has said the following
“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, when certain people asked him if there is Zakat on jewelries, ‘Zakat is not due on jewelries even if it becomes a hundred thousand.’”
4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَسَأَلَهُ بَعْضُهُمْ عَنِ الْحُلِيِّ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ فَقَالَ لاَ وَلَوْ بَلَغَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ.

5. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ’Isa from al-Hassan Ali ibn Yaqtin from his brother al- Husayn from Ali ibn Yaqtin who has said the following
“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about goods which are not used or moved. He (the Imam) said, ‘There is Zakat on it every year until it is used.”
5ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الْمَالِ الَّذِي لاَ يُعْمَلُ بِهِ وَلاَ يُقَلَّبُ قَالَ يَلْزَمُهُ الزَّكَاةُ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُسْبَكَ.

6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from certain persons of our people who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Zakat of jewelries is allowing others to borrow it.’”
6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
زَكَاةُ الْحُلِيِّ عَارِيَتُهُ.

7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad ibn ’Isa from Hariz from Harun ibn Kharijah who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), that my brother, Yusuf accepts employment from these people from which he has earned great amounts of wealth and has turned them into jewelries to avoid Zakat. Is there Zakat on it? He (the Imam) said, ‘Zakat is not due on jewelries; however, the loss that he has caused to himself in this way and depriving himself of the virtue of paying Zakat is greater than his fear of paying Zakat.”
7ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ أَخِي يُوسُفَ وُلِّيَ لِهَؤُلاَءِ الْقَوْمِ أَعْمَالاً أَصَابَ فِيهَا أَمْوَالاً كَثِيرَةً وَإِنَّهُ جَعَلَ تِلْكَ الأمْوَالَ حُلِيّاً أَرَادَ أَنْ يَفِرَّ بِهَا مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ أَ عَلَيْهِ الزَّكَاةُ قَالَ لَيْسَ عَلَى الْحُلِيِّ زَكَاةٌ وَمَا أَدْخَلَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ مِنَ النُّقْصَانِ فِي وَضْعِهِ وَمَنْعِهِ نَفْسَهُ فَضْلُهُ أَكْثَرُ مِمَّا يَخَافُ مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ.

8. Hammad ibn ‘Isa has narrated from Hariz from Ali ibn Yaqtin who has said the following
“I once said to abu Ibrahim (a.s.), certain things accumulate with me and remain for about a year. Is there Zakat on it? He (the Imam) said, ‘No, Zakat is not due on it. Use whatever is with you until one is passed, Zakat is not due on it and whatever is not rika’z you do not owe anything therefor.’ I then asked, ‘What is rika’z? He (the Imam) said, ‘It is solid with designs on it.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘If you like you can cast them because Zakat is not due on alloys of silver and gold.”’
8ـ حَمَّادُ بْنُ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِبْرَاهِيمَ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
قُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّهُ يَجْتَمِعُ عِنْدِي الشَّيْ‏ءُ فَيَبْقَى نَحْواً مِنْ سَنَةٍ أَ نُزَكِّيهِ قَالَ لاَ كُلُّ مَا لَمْ يَحُلْ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَكَ الْحَوْلُ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ وَكُلُّ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ رِكَازاً فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكَ فِيهِ شَيْ‏ءٌ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَا الرِّكَازُ قَالَ الصَّامِتُ الْمَنْقُوشُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا أَرَدْتَ ذَلِكَ فَاسْبِكْهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ فِي سَبَائِكِ الذَّهَبِ وَنِقَارِ الْفِضَّةِ شَيْ‏ءٌ مِنَ الزَّكَاةِ.

9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Hadid from Jamil from certain persons of our people who have said the following
“Zakat is not due on gold. Zakat becomes due only on dinars and dirhams.”
9ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَدِيدٍ عَنْ جَمِيلٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا
أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَيْسَ فِي التِّبْرِ زَكَاةٌ إِنَّمَا هِيَ عَلَى الدَّنَانِيرِ وَالدَّرَاهِمِ.

10. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hammad from ibn ’Udhaynah from Zurarah Bukayr who has said the following
“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Zakat is not due on gems even if it becomes a large amount.’”
10ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ وَبُكَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ
لَيْسَ فِي الْجَوْهَرِ وَأَشْبَاهِهِ زَكَاةٌ وَإِنْ كَثُرَ.
