“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Serving food is one of the reasons for which Allah, the most Blessed, the most High, grants forgiveness.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) is mentioned in al- Quran and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has followed it.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about mahr (dower) in al- Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) and that what it is? He (the Imam) said, ‘It can be a handful of food items, wheat flour, or fine flour or dates.’”

“About the case of a man who marries a woman in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) many times, abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful, he can marry her in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) as many times as he wants.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Marriage with a virgin in the manner of al- Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) is permissible only if fear of disgrace to her family will not affect her.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful for one to marry in the manner of al- Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) the slave-girl of a woman but if the master is a man then al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) with her is not permissible without the permission of her master.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful to marry a slave-girl in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) by the permission of her master.’”

Perhaps it is created from one of them or perhaps from both of them together.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, once returned from an armed expedition during which a large number of Muslims were killed. Women came to him (the Messenger of Allah) asking about their people who were killed. One woman came to him (the Messenger of Allah) and asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what did so and so do ? 5 He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘What is your relation with him?’ She replied, ‘He is my father.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘You should thank Allah and ask for your happy return to Allah; he became a martyr.’ She then did as he (the Messenger of Allah) had told her to do. Then she asked, ‘What did so and so do, O Messenger of Allah?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘What is your relation with him?’ She replied, ‘He is my brother.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘You should thank Allah and ask for your happy return to Allah; he became a martyr.’ She then did as he (the Messenger of Allah) had told her to do. She then asked, ‘What did so and so do, O Messenger of Allah?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) asked, ‘What is your relation with him?’ She replied, ‘He is my husband.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) said, ‘You should thank Allah and ask for your happy return to Allah, he became a martyr.’ She then said, ‘Woe and wretchedness is upon me!’ The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, said, ‘I did not think women have this much (loving feeling) for their husbands until I saw this woman.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a woman passes a night and her husband is angry with her because of a right to which she does not yield, her Salat (prayer) is not accepted until he becomes happy with her. If a woman wears perfume for other than her husband, her Salat (prayer) is not accepted until she washes them clean just as she takes a Ghusl (bath) because of going to bed.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Salat (prayer) of three kinds of people is not accepted. One is a runaway slave from his masters until he places his hand in their hands, a woman who passes the night when her husband is angry with her and a man who leads a people in Salat (prayer) and they dislike him.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The good deeds of three kinds of people cannot rise up. One is a runaway slave, a woman whose husband is not happy with her and one who drags his gown on the ground out of pride.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying that once the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, gave a speech for women and said, ‘O the community of women, you must give charity even if it is from your jewelries, a date or a piece of a date because the majority of you will be the fuel for the fire of hell if you frequently abuse and curse your associate (husband).’ A woman from banu Salim who had reason said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we are mothers, who carry in our wombs and breastfeed. From us are daughters who highly value (parents and relatives) and kind sisters.’ The Messenger of Allah was moved emotionally and said, ‘Childbearing, birth-giving, breastfeeding and kindhearted ones, only if they do not bring to their husband’s (bed) something that will make them to feel the heat of fire (due to involving themselves in indecent acts).”’

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a slave’s looking at the hairs of the mistress. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

“I once asked him (the Imam) (a.s.), about a girl who is not a relative to me who holds me and I carry her and kiss her. He (the Imam) said, ‘When she becomes six years old then you must not place her in your lap.’”

I heard Safwan ibn Yahya who has said the following: “I once said to al-Rida’ (a.s.), that one of his followers has asked me to ask you a question in which he feels shy and intimidated. He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is the question?’ I asked, ‘Can a man come to his wife in her anus?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is up to him.’ I then asked, ‘Do you do so?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, we do not do so.’”

“Once I was with Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.), when a man came and said, ‘O abu Muhammad, I am addicted to women. One day I commit fornication and the other day I fast; if this can become expiation for the sin.’ Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.), said, ‘There is not anything more beloved to Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, than obedience to Him and not to disobey Him. So you must not fornicate and you must not fast.’ Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), pulled him to himself holding his hand and said, ‘O fornicator, you do the deeds of the people of hell and hope to enter paradise?”’

“A woman asked me to ask abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), for permission to visit him (the Imam). Permission was given and she came with her slave-girl and asked, ‘O abu ‘Abd Allah, what is the meaning of the word of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, “. . . the olive tree which is not eastern or western.’” (24:35) He (the Imam) said, ‘Allah does not give parables of the tree. He only gives parables about the children of Adam. Ask what you want.’ She asked, ‘Tell me about women with women and what the penalty is for it?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Its penalty is like that for fornication and on the Day of Judgment they will be brought with dresses of fire which cause laceration, veiled with veils of fire, and loin cloths of fire. Posts of fire will be inserted inside them up to their heads and they will be thrown in the fire. You must take notice that the first ones who engage in such act were people of Lot. Men became satisfied with men and women were left without men, so they did as their men did.’”

“I once heard abu Ja‘far (a.s.), saying, ‘No worship is better than maintaining chastity in matters of one’s stomach and genitals organs.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who in the state of Ihram removes ticks from the camel. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is permissible but he must not remove al-Halamah.’”
