“I asked abu Ja’far (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, in His book, ‘ ... to save a life is as great a virtue as to save all of mankind. . . .’ (5:32) The Imam said, ‘It refers to burning or drowning someone.’ I asked, ‘What if someone takes him out of straying to guidance?’ The Imam said, ‘That is the greatest interpretation of the case in point.’” Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad and ‘Abd Allah the two sons of Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Aban: a similar Hadith.

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), said, ‘Everything has a cleanser; the cleanser for bodies is fasting.”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘The master food is meat.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about instigating animals against each other. He (the Imam) said, ‘I dislike it except dogs.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Women are given desires of twelve parts and patience of twelve parts.’”

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘A liar is destroyed by means of clear evidence (his false claims) and his followers are destroyed on ambiguous evidence (accepting a leader whose qualification is doubtful).”’

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘Pigeons are the birds of the Prophets, ‘Alayhim al- Salam.”’

“He (the Imam) (a.s.), has said, ‘Testimony by women is not admissible in the case of seeing the crescent.’”

“One of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘ Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ’Waiting period is because of water (seed, semen)/”

1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al- Rabi ‘ al-Musliy from Ma‘ruf ibn Kharrabudh from those who had seen ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), eating bread with grapes.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said, ‘From your area no other thing comes more likable to us than viola.’”

“Tasbih of Fatimah al-Zahra (a.s.) is a form of ‘Often speaking and remembering Allah’ about which Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has said, ‘Believers, remember Allah very often (33:41) and glorify Him both in the mornings and in the evenings.’” (33:42) It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Sayf ibn ‘Amirah from abu ‘Usamah Zayd al-Shahham and Mansur ibn Hazim and Sa’id al-‘A’raj from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) a similar Hadith.

“I once asked al-Rida’ (a.s.), about the eggs of crows. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do not eat them.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Applying oil removes wickedness (despair).”’

I asked Imam (as) about my neighbor who passed away and left behind daughters. Imam (as) replied: "The wealth belongs to them."

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The good deeds of three kinds of people cannot rise up. One is a runaway slave, a woman whose husband is not happy with her and one who drags his gown on the ground out of pride.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the best charity is cooling off a thirsty liver.”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘The worldly help in one’s quest for success in the hereafter is the best help.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A man must not take an oath except for what he knows. 5 ”

“One of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ‘The free and slaves do not inherit each other.’”
