أبو جعفر

Hadith.1687 - Abu Ja'far (as) said: "Acts of kindness protect against calamities."

Hadith.1690 - Abu Ja'far (as) said: "Everything has a fruit, and the fruit of goodness is hastening to perform it."

Hadith.3613 - Abu Jafar Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) said: "Assistance descends from the heavens in proportion to one's needs."

“I heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.) saying, ‘Once abu Ja’far (a.s.) looked upon a man who was saying, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance.” Abu Ja’far (a.s.) said to him, ‘You are asking the sustenance of the prophets, say, “O Lord, I plead before You for lawful sustenance from You that is vast and pure.’”

Hadith.1729 - Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) said: "Goodness and charity eliminate poverty, increase lifespan, and protect their giver from seventy types of ill-fated deaths."

One-third was given to their neighbors. One-third was given to the needy and beggars. One-third was kept for the members of their household.

Hadith.1757 - Imam Abu Ja'far (as) said: "If the one who asks knew what [burden] lies in asking, no one would ask another for anything; and if the giver knew what [reward] lies in giving, no one would refuse anyone."

“I was in the presence of abu Ja‘far (a.s.), in the Masjid of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause. At that time, one of the extended over-hangings of the Masjid fell on a man and injured his leg. Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), told us to ask him about what he has done today. When people asked him about it, he said, ‘When I came out of my home, there were some dates in my sleeve. I passed by a beggar and gave him one piece of date as charity. 5 Abu Ja’far (a.s.), said, ‘That is the reason why Allah repelled misfortune from you.”’

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ’You must give charity to one asking for help even if he is riding a horse.’”

Hadith.1723 - Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) said: "Indeed, Allah (swt), Blessed and Exalted, loves the cooling of a burning liver. Whoever quenches the thirst of a burning liver- whether of an animal or otherwise, Allah (swt) will shade them under the shade of His Throne on the Day when there is no shade except His shade."

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘A man cannot buy what he has given as charity. If he gives as charity a house to a relative then if he likes he can live with them. If he gives in charity a servant to a relative he can serve him by the will of Allah.’”

It is narrated that Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) never used to return any beggar away empty-handed on the day of Arafah.

“Once abu Ja’far (a.s.), said to me, ‘O Muhammad, had people known how despicable begging is, they would never become beggars. Had people known how great the reward for helping a beggar is, no one appealing for financial help would ever have been turned away empty-handed.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘My father (a.s.), would say, “The best work is farming in which you plant, and the virtuous as well as sinful ones eat. The virtuous on eating asks forgiveness for you and the sinful one on eating it is condemned; and even animals and birds eat thereof.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that abu Ja‘far, at the time of his passing away freed the mischievous ones among his slaves and kept the good ones. I asked, ‘Father, do you free these and keep these?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘These were subjected to my disciplining, thus, this is for that.’”

‘Abū Jaʿfar (AS) said: “Doing good [to others] protects one from falling into ruin, and every good turn is a charity. Those whose want is to do good [to others] in this world are [known as] the doers of good in the Hereafter, while those who do evil in the world are [recognized] as the evildoers in the Hereafter. Verily the first of the inhabitants of Paradise to be admitted into it are the doers of good, and the first of the people of Hell to be thrown into it are the doers of evil.”’”

“When abu Ja’far (a.s.), wanted to leave for a journey, he would ask his family to come together in the house. He would then say, ‘O Allah, I leave in the morning in Your trust my soul, my possession, my family, my children, those present and those absent. O Allah, protect us and protect things important to us. O Allah, place us in Your neighborhood. O Allah, do not take away Your bounties from us and do not change the good health and favors that we enjoy.’”

“Once a man said to abu Ja’far (a.s.), ‘I have a certain amount of property in the mountains from which I receive three thousand dirham profit every year. I spend two thousand dirham for my family and one thousand dirham for charity every year.’ Abu Ja’far (a.s.), then said, ‘If the two thousand is enough for all of their needs for the year, you have been considerate for yourself, had good opportunity to have the right guidance. You have executed a plan for yourself in your lifetime which is like what one plans in his will.’”

“About the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Give His right on the day of its harvest . . .,’ (6:142) all of them have said that abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘It is of charity (Zakat) that which is given to the destitute, a bunch after bunch and from fruits handful after handful until all fruits are picked up from trees. The guard has a definite right, which is left for him of the trees. Palm trees like Mi‘afarah and ‘Umm Ja‘rur are left alone. One, two or three trees are left for the guard because of his guarding.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, has created a people to actuate Benevolent Assistance. He has made the doing of Benevolent Assistance beloved to them and has directed the recipients of Benevolent Assistance toward them to seek help. He has made the doing of Benevolent Assistance easy for them just as abundant rain eases the barren land to come alive and give life to its inhabitants. Also as enemies of Benevolent Assistance Allah has created a creature. He has made it to seem abhorrent to them as well as the doing of Benevolent Assistance. He has prohibited those who seek Benevolent Assistance to appeal for help before such creatures, and He has prohibited these creatures to provide such assistance, just as He prohibits abundant rain to fall on barren land to destroy it and its inhabitants; however, Allah’s forgiveness is greater.’”
