hadith 1413
In the days of ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, Abū Sufyān [1] happened to utter a thoughtless point which was an evil suggestion of Satan, from which neither kinship is established nor entitlement to succession occurs. He who relies on it is like the uninvited guest to a drink-party or like the dangling cup (tied to a saddle).
وَقَدْ كَانَ مِنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فِي زَمَنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فَلْتَهٌ مِنْ حَدِيثِ النَّفْسِ، وَنَزْغَةٌ مِنْ نَزَغَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ، لَا يَثْبُتُ بِهَا نَسَبٌ، وَلَا يُسْتَحَقُّ بِهَا إِرْثٌ، وَالْمُتَعَلِّقُ بِهَا كَالْوَاغِلِ الْمُدَفَّعِ، وَالنَّوْطِ الْمُذَبْذَبِ.

hadith 1845
270. It is related that during the days of (Caliph) ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, the question of the excess of the ornaments of the Ka‘bah was mentioned to him and some people suggested: If you prepare with it an army of Muslims that will be a matter of great reward; and what would the Ka‘bah do with the ornaments? ‘Umar thought of doing so but asked Amīr al-mu’minīn, peace be upon him, when he said:
٢٧٠. وَرُوِيَ
أَنَّهُ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ فِي أَيَّامِهِ حَلْيُ الْكَعْبَةِ وَكَثْرَتُهُ، فَقَالَ قَوْمٌ: لَوْ أَخَذْتَهُ فَجَهَّزْتَ بِهِ جُيُوشَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَانَ أَعْظَمَ لِلْأَجْرِ، وَمَا تَصْنَعُ الْكَعْبَةُ بِالْحَلْيِ؟ فَهَمَّ عُمَرُ بِذَلِكَ، وَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عليه السلام).

hadith 147
145. Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Mahboub, from Abdullah Bin Sinan who said
I heard Abu Abdullah (asws) saying: ‘There was a woman from the Helpers who had cordiality with us (asws) the People (asws) of the Household, and used to frequently pledge her allegiance to us (asws), and Umar Bin Al-Khattab met her one day whilst she was on her way to us (asws). He said to her, ‘Where are you headed, O elderly woman of the Helpers?’ She said, ‘I am going to the Progeny (asws) of Muhammad (saww) to greet them (asws), and renew my allegiance with them (asws), and give their (asws) rights to them (asws). So Umar said to her, ‘Woe be unto you! There are no rights for them (asws) today, neither from you nor from us. But rather, there used to be rights for them during the era of the Rasool Allah (saww). As for today, there are no rights for them (asws), so leave’. So she left until she came up to Umm Salma (ar). Umm Salma (ar) said to her, ‘What was it that delayed you in coming to us (as)?’ So she said, ‘I met Umar Bin Al-Khattaab’, and she informed her (as) of what she had said to Umar and what Umar had said to her’. So Umm Salma (ar) said to her, ‘He lied. The rights of the Progeny (asws) of Muhammad (saww) have not stopped. They are Obligatory upon the Muslims up to the Day of Judgement’.
عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) يَقُولُ كَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ تَوَدُّنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ تُكْثِرُ التَّعَاهُدَ لَنَا وَ إِنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ لَقِيَهَا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَ هِيَ تُرِيدُنَا فَقَالَ لَهَا أَيْنَ تَذْهَبِينَ يَا عَجُوزَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَتْ أَذْهَبُ إِلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ أُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ أُجَدِّدُ بِهِمْ عَهْداً وَ أَقْضِي حَقَّهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهَا عُمَرُ وَيْلَكِ لَيْسَ لَهُمُ الْيَوْمَ حَقٌّ عَلَيْكِ وَ لَا عَلَيْنَا إِنَّمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ حَقٌّ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) فَأَمَّا الْيَوْمَ فَلَيْسَ لَهُمْ حَقٌّ فَانْصَرِفِي فَانْصَرَفَتْ حَتَّى أَتَتْ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ مَا ذَا أَبْطَأَ بِكِ عَنَّا فَقَالَتْ إِنِّي لَقِيتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ وَ أَخْبَرَتْهَا بِمَا قَالَتْ لِعُمَرَ وَ مَا قَالَ لَهَا عُمَرُ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ كَذَبَ لَا يَزَالُ حَقُّ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَاجِباً عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ.

5. We were told by Muhammed bin Ibrahim bin Ishaq al-Talaqani, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: We were told by Abdul-Aziz bin Yahya al-Jaloudi, that he said: We were told by Muhammed bin Sahl, that he said: We were told by Ibrahim bin Mu’ammar, that he said: We were told by Abdullah bin Dahir al-Ahmari, that he said: I was told by my father, that he said: We were told by A’mash, from Yahya bin Wathhab, from Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Sulami, that Umar bin Khattab used to recite: «Peace be upon the Family of Yasin.» [1] Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Sulami said
The Family of Yasin is the Family of Muhammed, peace be upon him.
حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق الطالقاني - رضي الله عنه - قال: حدثنا عبد العزيز بن يحيى الجلودي، قال: حدثنا محمد بن سهل، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن معمر قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن داهر الأحمري، قال: حدثني أبي، قال: حدثنا الأعمش، عن يحيى بن وثاب، عن أبي عبد الرحمن السلمي أن عمر بن الخطاب
كان يقرأ: سلام على آل ياسين. قال أبو عبد الرحمن السلمي: آل ياسين آل محمد عليهم السلام.

hadith 462
Imam Sadiq (a.s) quoted upon the authority of God's Prophet (a.s): “There are several pulpits covered with light on the right side of the Throne on which men with shining faces sit who are neither martyrs nor Prophets.” Ummar ibn Khattab asked the Prophet (a.s) who they were. The Prophet (a.s) replied: “They are people who helped each other for God's sake. They treated each other as they treat their brothers, and helped one another for God's sake. They loved each other for God's sake.” At this point Ali ibn Abi Talib (a.s) entered and the Prophet pointed to Ali and continued: “They are his followers.”
عن أبي عبد الله (عليه السلام) قال
قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): إن في يمين العرش منابر من نور عليها رجال وجوههم من نور، ليسوا بأنبياء ولا شهداء، قال: فقال له عمر بن الخطاب: فمن هؤلاء يا رسول الله؟ قال: هم الذين تواصوا في الله وتواخوا في الله وتواصلوا في الله وتحابوا في الله، فدخل علي بن أبي طالب - صلوات الله عليه - فقال: هم شيعة هذا - وأشار إلى علي (عليه السلام) -.

hadith 600
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Khalid and al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id all from al- Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Urwah from ‘Abd al-Hamid al-Ta’iy from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has narrated the following
“About the testimony of a slave abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘If he is a just man it is permissible. The first one who rejected the testimony of a slave was ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab. Once a slave was brought before him to testify and he said, ‘If I testify I fear for myself; if I hide, it is a sin for me before my Lord.’ He (‘Umar) then said, ‘Testify, but after you I will not allow any slave to testify.’”
2- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ وَالْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الطَّائِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فِي شَهَادَةِ الْمَمْلُوكِ قَالَ
إِذَا كَانَ عَدْلا فَهُوَ جَائِزُ الشَّهَادَةِ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَنْ رَدَّ شَهَادَةَ الْمَمْلُوكِ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ تَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ مَمْلُوكٌ فِي شَهَادَةٍ فَقَالَ إِنْ أَقَمْتُ الشَّهَادَةَ تَخَوَّفْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَإِنْ كَتَمْتُهَا أَثِمْتُ بِرَبِّي فَقَالَ هَاتِ شَهَادَتَكَ أَمَا إِنَّا لا نُجِيزُ شَهَادَةَ مَمْلُوكٍ بَعْدَكَ.

hadith 756
H 487 - It is narrated from Sa'd bin Abdullah from Muhammad bin Isa bin Ubaid from Ismail bin Aban from 'Amru bin Shimr from Jabir al-Ju'fi, he said
I heard Abu Ja'far (a.s) say: “Umar asked Amirul Mu'mineen (a.s) saying, ‘Tell me about the Mahdi, what is his name?’ He (a.s.) replied: ‘As for his name, my beloved (the Prophet) has bound me not to speak to anyone about it until Allah raises him.‘ He (Umar) then asked, ‘Tell me about his attributes.‘ He (AS) replied, ‘He is a young man of medium height, with a handsome face and beautiful hair, his hair falls on his shoulders, and the light of his face outshines the darkness of his beard and head. By my father, (he is) the son of the best of slave girls.’”
487- سعد بن عبدالله، عن محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد، عن إسماعيل بن أبان، عن عمرو بن شمر، عن جابر الجعفي، قال
سمعت أبا جعفر عليه السلام يقول: سأل عمر بن الخطاب أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام فقال: أخبرني عن المهدي ما اسمه؟ فقال: أما إسمه فإن حبيبي شهد إلي أن لا أحدث باسمه حتى يبعثه الله. قال: فأخبرني عن صفته؟ قال: هو شاب مربوع، حسن الوجه، حسن الشعر، يسيل شعره على منكبيه ونور وجهه يعلو سواد لحيته ورأسه، بأبي ابن خيرة الاماء.

Mohammed bin al-Hasan bin Ahmed bin al-Waleed (r) related to me from Mohammed bin al-Hasan as-Saffar… from Mohammed bin Qays and Aamir bin as-Simt that Abu Ja’far (a) related that the
Prophet (s) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, some people dressing clothes of light with luminous faces whom will be identified by the signs of prostration will come. They will overstep the rows until they stand in front of the Lord of the worlds. The prophets, angels, shahids, and righteous people will envy them." Omar bin al-Khattab asked: "O Allah’s Messenger, who are they whom the prophets, angels, shahids, and righteous men will envy?" The Prophet (s) answered: "They will be our Shia, and Ali will be their imam."
حدّثني محمّد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد رحمه الله قال حدّثني محمّد بن الحسن الصفّار بإسناد يرفعه عن محمّد بن قيس وعامر بن السمط عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام قال
قال رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وآله: يأتي يوم القيامة قوم عليهم ثياب من نور، على وجوههم نور يعرفون بآثار السجود. يتخطّون صفّاً بعد صف حتّى يصيروا بين يديّ ربّ العالمين يغبطهم النبيّون والملائكة والشهداء والصالحون. فقال له عمر بن الخطاب: مَن هؤلاء يا رسول الله الذين يغبطهم النبيّون والملائكة والشهداء والصالحون؟ قال: اُولئك شيعتنا وعليّ إمامهم.

hadith 627
Al-Husayn b. Yahya b. Durays al-Bajali (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: Abu `Awana narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Maslama al-Qa`nabi narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Lahi`a narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Abd al-Rahman b. `Urwa b. al-Zubayr from his father from his grandfather. He said
A man insulted `Ali b. Abi Talib in the presence of `Umar b. al-Khattab, so `Umar said to him: Do you know who owns this grave? Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. `Abd al-Muttalib and `Ali b. Abi Talib b. `Abd al-Muttalib. Do not mention `Ali except in goodness, for surely, if you [speak of him] disparagingly, you hurt the one in his grave.
12 - حدثنا الحسين بن يحيى بن ضريس البجلي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا أبو عوانة، قال: حدثنا أبي، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن مسلمة القعنبي، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن لهيعة، عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن عروة بن الزبير، عن أبيه، عن جده، قال
وقع رجل في علي بن أبي طالب بمحضر من عمر بن الخطاب، فقال له عمر: تعرف صاحب هذا القبر؟ محمد بن عبد الله بن عبد المطلب، وعلي بن أبي طالب بن عبد المطلب، لا تذكرن عليا إلا بخير، فإنك إن تنقصته آذيت هذا في قبره (1).

5. He said: Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Salim reported to me from Abu Abdillah Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Hasani, who reported from Isa ibn Mehran, who reported from Abu Mu’awiyah al-Dhareer, who reported from A’amash, from Shaqeeq, from Ummu Salemah, the Prophet’s wife, who said that Abdul Rahman ibn Awf (once) called upon her and said
"O Mother, I fear that my abundant wealth may destroy me. I am the richest among the Quraish." She said: "O Son, spend (in the way of Allah), for surely, I heard the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, say: From my companions, there will be some who will never see me again after I have departed from them." He said: Abdul Rahman left, and on his way met with Umar ibn al-Khattaibn He informed him about what Ummu Salemah had said. He (Umar) came to Ummu Salemah with insistence that he be allowed to visit her, then he said: "O mother, am I among them?" She said: "I do not know, nor am I going to absolve anyone beside you."
5 - قال: أخبرني أبو بكر محمد بن عمر بن سالم قال: حدثنا أبو عبد الله جعفر ابن محمد الحسني قال: حدثنا عيسى بن مهران قال: أخبرنا أبو معاوية الضرير قال: حدثنا الأعمش، عن شقيق ، عن أم سلمة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وآله قال
دخل عليها عبد الرحمن بن عوف فقال: يا أمه قد خفت أن تهلكني كثرة مالي، أنا أكثر قريش مالا، قالت: يا بني فأنفق، فإني سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله يقول: من أصحابي من لا يراني بعد أن أفارقه. قال: فخرج عبد الرحمن فلقي عمر بن الخطاب فأخبره بالذي قالت أم سلمة فجاء يشتد حتى دخل عليها، فقال: يا أمه أنا منهم؟ فقالت: لا أعلم ولن أبرئ بعدك أحدا.

hadith 1499
Hadith.1505 – It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that Umar ibn al-Khattab went out to pray for rain (Istisqa') and said to Abbas (the uncle of the Prophet), "Stand up and supplicate to your Lord (azj) and seek rain." Umar said
"O’ Allah (swt), we seek a means to You through the uncle of Your Prophet." So Abbas stood up, praised Allah (swt), and extolled Him, then said: "O’ Allah (swt), You have the clouds, and You have the rain; so spread the clouds and send down water from it upon us. Send it down upon us, strengthen the roots, make the branches grow, and revive the crops with it. O’ Allah (swt), we are intercessors to You for those who cannot speak—our livestock and our animals. Let us be intercessors for ourselves and our families. O’ Allah (swt), we call upon none but You and turn our hope to none but You. O’ Allah (swt), give us a peaceful and beneficial rainfall, abundant and overwhelming. O’ Allah (swt), we complain to You of the hunger of every hungry one, the nakedness of every unclothed one, the fear of every fearful one, and the thirst of every thirsty one who calls upon You."
1505 - وَ رُوِيَ عَنِ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: «أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ اَلْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ يَسْتَسْقِي فَقَالَ
لِلْعَبَّاسِ قُمْ فَادْعُ رَبَّكَ وَ اِسْتَسْقِ وَقَالَ اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ فَقَامَ اَلْعَبَّاسُ فَحَمِدَ اَللَّهَ وَ أَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ عِنْدَكَ سَحَاباً وَ إِنَّ عِنْدَكَ مَطَراً فَانْشُرِ اَلسَّحَابَ وَ أَنْزِلْ فِيهِ اَلْمَاءَ ثُمَّ أَنْزِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا وَ اُشْدُدْ بِهِ اَلْأَصْلَ وَ أَطْلِعْ بِهِ اَلْفَرْعَ وَ أَحْيِ بِهِ اَلزَّرْعَ اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا شُفَعَاءُ إِلَيْكَ عَمَّنْ لاَ مَنْطِقَ لَهُ مِنْ بَهَائِمِنَا وَ أَنْعَامِنَا شَفِّعْنَا فِي أَنْفُسِنَا وَ أَهَالِينَا اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا لاَ نَدْعُو إِلاَّ إِيَّاكَ وَ لاَ نَرْغَبُ إِلاَّ إِلَيْكَ اَللَّهُمَّ اِسْقِنَا سَقْياً وَادِعاً نَافِعاً طَبَقاً مُجَلْجِلاً اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَشْكُو إِلَيْكَ جُوعَ كُلِّ جَائِعٍ، وَ عُرْيَ كُلِّ عَارٍ وَ خَوْفَ كُلِّ خَائِفٍ وَ سَغَبَ كُلِّ سَاغِبٍ يَدْعُو اَللَّهَ.

203. Ali b. Ibrahim [narrated] from Abdullah b. Muhammad b. Isa from Safwan b. Yahya from Hanan who said
I heard my father narrated from Abu Ja’far (as) having said: ‘Salman (ra) was seated with a number of people from Quraysh in a Mosque. They started priding over their lineages and ancestry until they reached Salman (ra). Umar b. al-Khattab said to him, ‘Inform me who you are, and who your father is, and what your origin is’. So he said: ‘I am Salman, son of a servant of Allah (swt). I had strayed but Allah (swt) had guided me through Muhammad (saw), and I was needy so Allah (swt) enriched through Muhammad (saw), and I was owned [as a slave] so Allah (swt) freed me through Muhammad (saw). This is my lineage, and this is my nobility’. So Rasulullah (saw) [came out and] said: 'O group of Quraysh, the nobility of a man is his Religion, and his chivalry is his manners, and his origin is his intellect, and Allah (swt) has said: O mankind! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you nations and tribes that you may identify yourselves with one another.' {49:13}. Then the Prophet (saw) said to Salman, ‘There is no virtue over you from any of these ones except by taqwa (i.e., fear of Allah), and if there is piety in you [superior] to them, then you are more virtous [than them].'

سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَرْوِي عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عليه السلام) قَالَ كَانَ سَلْمَانُ جَالِساً مَعَ نَفَرٍ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَأَقْبَلُوا يَنْتَسِبُونَ وَ يَرْفَعُونَ فِي أَنْسَابِهِمْ حَتَّى بَلَغُوا سَلْمَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَخْبِرْنِي مَنْ أَنْتَ وَ مَنْ أَبُوكَ وَ مَا أَصْلُكَ فَقَالَ أَنَا سَلْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ كُنْتُ ضَالًّا فَهَدَانِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ كُنْتُ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَانِي اللَّهُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ كُنْتُ مَمْلُوكاً فَأَعْتَقَنِي اللَّهُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) هَذَا نَسَبِي وَ هَذَا حَسَبِي قَالَ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ سَلْمَانُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُكَلِّمُهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُ سَلْمَانُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَقِيتُ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ جَلَسْتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَخَذُوا يَنْتَسِبُونَ وَ يَرْفَعُونَ فِي أَنْسَابِهِمْ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغُوا إِلَيَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مَنْ أَنْتَ وَ مَا أَصْلُكَ وَ مَا حَسَبُكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ (صلى الله عليه وآله) فَمَا قُلْتَ لَهُ يَا سَلْمَانُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ أَنَا سَلْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ كُنْتُ ضَالًّا فَهَدَانِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ ذِكْرُهُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ كُنْتُ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَانِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ ذِكْرُهُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) وَ كُنْتُ مَمْلُوكاً فَأَعْتَقَنِي اللَّهُ عَزَّ ذِكْرُهُ بِمُحَمَّدٍ (صلى الله عليه وآله) هَذَا نَسَبِي وَ هَذَا حَسَبِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (صلى الله عليه وآله) يَا مَعْشَرَ قُرَيْشٍ إِنَّ حَسَبَ الرَّجُلِ دِينُهُ وَ مُرُوءَتَهُ خُلُقُهُ وَ أَصْلَهُ عَقْلُهُ وَ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِنَّا خَلَقْناكُمْ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ وَ أُنْثى وَ جَعَلْناكُمْ شُعُوباً وَ قَبائِلَ لِتَعارَفُوا إِنَّ أَكْرَمَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَتْقاكُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ (صلى الله عليه وآله) لِسَلْمَانَ لَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ عَلَيْكَ فَضْلٌ إِلَّا بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ إِنْ كَانَ التَّقْوَى لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَأَنْتَ أَفْضَلُ.

hadith 144
Hadith.3287 - And Al-Hasan bin Zayd narrated something similar from Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as), from his father, Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as), who said
"Umar bin Al-Khattab was presented with Qudamah bin Maz'un, who had drunk alcohol. Two men testified against him-one of them was a eunuch, Amr Al-Tamimi, and the other was Al-Mu'alla bin Al-Jarood. One of them testified that he saw him drinking, and the other testified that he saw him vomiting alcohol. Umar then sent for a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (swt), peace be upon him and his family, among them Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). Umar said to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as): 'What do you say, O Abu Al-Hasan? For you are the one about whom the Messenger of Allah (swt), peace be upon him and his family, said: "The most knowledgeable of this nation and the one who judges with truth."' Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) said: 'They have not differed in their testimony, for he would not have vomited it unless he had drunk it.' Umar then asked: 'Is the testimony of a eunuch acceptable?' Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) replied: 'The loss of his testicles is no different than the loss of some other part of his body.'"
3287 - وَ رَوَى اَلْحَسَنُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ نَحْواً مِمَّا ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ قَالَ
"أُتِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ اَلْخَطَّابِ بِقُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ قَدْ شَرِبَ اَلْخَمْرَ فَشَهِدَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلاَنِ أَحَدُهُمَا خَصِيٌّ وَ هُوَ عَمْرٌو اَلتَّمِيمِيُّ وَ اَلْآخَرُ اَلْمُعَلَّى بْنُ اَلْجَارُودِ فَشَهِدَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَنَّهُ رَآهُ يَشْرَبُ وَ شَهِدَ اَلْآخَرُ أَنَّهُ رَآهُ يَقِيءُ اَلْخَمْرَ فَأَرْسَلَ عُمَرُ إِلَى أُنَاسٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ فِيهِمْ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَقَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ مَا تَقُولُ يَا أَبَا اَلْحَسَنِ فَإِنَّكَ اَلَّذِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ "أَعْلَمُ هَذِهِ اَلْأُمَّةِ وَ أَقْضَاهَا بِالْحَقِّ" فَإِنَّ هَذَيْنِ قَدِ اِخْتَلَفَا فِي شَهَادَتِهِمَا فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ "مَا اِخْتَلَفَا فِي شَهَادَتِهِمَا وَ مَا قَاءَهَا حَتَّى شَرِبَهَا " فَقَالَ هَلْ تَجُوزُ شَهَادَةُ اَلْخَصِيِّ فَقَالَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ "مَا ذَهَابُ أُنْثَيَيْهِ إِلاَّ كَذَهَابِ بَعْضِ أَعْضَائِهِ"".

3. Reported by Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab, who said: Abu al-Hasan Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Hamza al-Sha'rani al-Amari, from the descendants of Ammar bin Yasir, informed us, saying
Abu Muhammad Ubayd Allah bin Yahya bin Abdul-Baqi al-Adni in Adna informed us, saying: Ali bin al-Hasan al-Ma'ani informed us, saying: Abdullah bin Yazid informed us, from Yahya bin Uqba bin Abi al-'Aizar, who said: Muhammad bin Hajar informed us, from Yazid bin al-Asam, who said:
A man asked Umar ibn al-Khattab: "O Commander of the Faithful, what is the interpretation of 'Subhan Allah'?" Umar replied: "In this wall, there is a man who, when asked, informs, and when left silent, he begins (to speak)." The man entered, and it was Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). So he asked: "O Abu al-Hasan, what is the interpretation of 'Subhan Allah'?" Ali replied: "It is the glorification of the majesty of Allah Almighty and the declaration of His transcendence above what any polytheist has said about Him. When a servant says it, every angel prays for him."

سأل رجل عمر بن الخطاب فقال: يا أمير المؤمنين ما تفسير " سبحان الله "؟ قال: إن في هذا الحائط رجلا كان إذا سئل أنبأ، وإذا سكت ابتدء. فدخل الرجل فإذا هو علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام فقال: يا أبا الحسن ما تفسير " سبحان الله "؟ قال: هو تعظيم جلال الله عز وجل وتنزيهه عما قال فيه كل مشرك، فإذا قاله العبد صلى عليه كل ملك.

hadith 660
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Musa ibn Ja‘far af-Baghdadiy from Ja‘far ibn Yahya fn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman fn af-Husayn ibn Zayd who has narrated the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah, has narrated from his father, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, who has said that once Qudamah ibn Maz‘un was brought before ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab because of drinking wine and two men testified against him. One, called ‘Amr al- Tamimiy, was castrated and the other one was Mu‘alla’ ibn al- Jarud. One of them testified that he saw him drinking wine and the other said that he saw him throwing out wine. ‘Umar then sent for several people of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, among whom one was ’Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali (a.s.). ‘Umar then asked, ‘What do you say, O abu al-Hassan? You are the one about whom the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “He is the most knowledgeable one in the nation and the one who judges with the truth all the time.” These have presented different testimonies.’ He (the Imam) said there is no difference in their testimonies, he could not have thrown out wine without drinking it.’ ‘Umar then asked about the testimony of a castrated man. He (the Imam) said, ‘His losing his beard is just like the loss of a certain part of his body.’”
2- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْبَغْدَادِيِّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) عَنْ أَبِيهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ
أُتِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ بِقُدَامَةَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ وَقَدْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فَشَهِدَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلانِ أَحَدُهُمَا خَصِيٌّ وَهُوَ عَمْرٌو التَّمِيمِيُّ وَالآخَرُ الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ الْجَارُودِ فَشَهِدَ أَحَدُهُمَا أَنَّهُ رَآهُ يَشْرَبُ وَشَهِدَ الآخَرُ أَنَّهُ رَآهُ يَقِي‏ءُ الْخَمْرَ فَأَرْسَلَ عُمَرُ إِلَى أُنَاسٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ فِيهِمْ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فَقَالَ لأمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) مَا تَقُولُ يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ فَإِنَّكَ الَّذِي قَالَ فِيكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ هَذِهِ الأمَّةِ وَأَقْضَاهَا بِالْحَقِّ فَإِنَّ هَذَيْنِ قَدِ اخْتَلَفَا فِي شَهَادَتِهِمَا قَالَ مَا اخْتَلَفَ فِي شَهَادَتِهِمَا وَمَا قَاءَهَا حَتَّى شَرِبَهَا فَقَالَ هَلْ تَجُوزُ شَهَادَةُ الْخَصِيِّ قَالَ مَا ذَهَابُ لِحْيَتِهِ إِلا كَذَهَابِ بَعْضِ أَعْضَائِهِ.

1. `Abd ibn Muhammad ibn `Abd al-Wahhab al-Sajzi said in Naysabur that Abu al-Hasan Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn `Abd Allah ibn Hamzah al-Sha`rani al-`Ammari from the children of `Ammar ibn Yasir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abu Muhammad `Ubayd Allah ibn Yahya ibn `Abd al-Baqi, al-Adhani said in Adhanah that `ali ibn al-Hasan al-Ma`ani said: `Abd Allah ibn Yazid related to, on the authority of Yahya ibn `Uqbah ibn Abu al-`Ayzar that Muhammad ibn Hajjar said, on the authority of Yazid ibn al-Asamm that
A man asked `Umar ibn al-Khattab, “O Commander of the Faithful! What is the meaning of `Glory be to Allah’ [subhan Allah]?” He replied, “Verily, there is a man within these walls who informs when asked, and informs when there is silence.” So the man entered and it was `Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS); hence, he asked, “O Father of Hasan! What is the meaning of `Glory be to Allah’?” He (AS) answered, “It is revering the Glory of Allah, the Mighty and High, and the negation of whatever every polytheist attributes to Him. Therefore, when a servant says this, all the angels bless him.”

hadith 433
Hadith.5401 - In the narration of Aban ibn Uthman, it is reported that
Umar ibn Al-Khattab was presented with a man who had killed another man's brother. Umar handed him over to the victim's brother and ordered him to kill him. The man struck him until he thought he had killed him. He was carried to his home, and they found he still had some life in him. They treated him until he recovered. When he recovered, the brother of the first murdered man seized him and said: "You are the killer of my brother, and I have the right to kill you." The man replied: "You have already killed me once." He was then brought before Umar, who ordered his execution. As he was being taken away, he cried out: "O' people, by Allah (swt), he has already killed me once!" They passed by Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) and informed him of the situation. Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) said: "Do not rush to kill him until I come out to you." Imam (as) entered upon Umar and said: "This is not the correct ruling in this matter." Umar asked: "Then what is it, O' Abu Al-Hasan (as)?" Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) replied: "This man should exact retribution from the brother of the first murdered man for what he did to him, and then he can be executed for his brother." 5401 - وَ فِي رِوَايَةِ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ : أَنَّ
عُمَرَ بْنَ اَلْخَطَّابِ أُتِيَ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ قَتَلَ أَخَا رَجُلٍ فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَيْهِ وَ أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَقْتُلَهُ فَضَرَبَهُ اَلرَّجُلُ حَتَّى رَأَى أَنَّهُ قَدْ قَتَلَهُ فَحُمِلَ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ فَوَجَدُوا بِهِ رَمَقاً فَعَالَجُوهُ حَتَّى بَرَأَ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ أَخَذَهُ أَخُ اَلْمَقْتُولِ اَلْأَوَّلِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ قَاتِلُ أَخِي وَ لِيَ أَنْ أَقْتُلَكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ قَدْ قَتَلْتَنِي مَرَّةً فَانْطَلَقَ بِهِ إِلَى عُمَرَ فَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِهِ فَخَرَجَ وَ هُوَ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا اَلنَّاسُ وَ اَللَّهِ قَدْ قَتَلَنِي مَرَّةً فَمَرُّوا بِهِ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ صَلَوَاتُ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِخَبَرِهِ فَقَالَ "لاَ تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَخْرُجَ إِلَيْكَ" فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَقَالَ "لَيْسَ اَلْحُكْمُ فِيهِ هَكَذَا" فَقَالَ مَا هُوَ يَا أَبَا اَلْحَسَنِ قَالَ "يَقْتَصُّ هَذَا مِنْ أَخِ اَلْمَقْتُولِ اَلْأَوَّلِ مَا صَنَعَ بِهِ ثُمَّ يَقْتُلُهُ بِأَخِيهِ" فَظَنَّ اَلرَّجُلُ أَنَّهُ إِنِ اِقْتَصَّ مِنْهُ أَتَى عَلَى نَفْسِهِ فَعَفَا عَنْهُ وَ تَتَارَكَا.

hadith 111
Hadith.3254 - Amr ibn Thabit narrated from his father, from Sad ibn Tarif, from Al-Asbagh ibn Nubatah, who said
A woman was brought before Umar ibn al-Khattab. She had married an old man who died while lying on top of her after consummating the marriage. Later, she gave birth to a child. The old man's sons accused her of adultery and testified against her. Umar ordered that she be stoned. As they were leading her away, they passed by Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as). She called out: "O cousin of the Messenger of Allah (swt)! I am wronged, and this is my evidence." Imam (as) said: "Present your evidence." She handed him a letter, and Imam (as) read it. Then Imam (as) said: "This woman is informing you of the date of her marriage, the date of consummation, and how it occurred. Return the woman." The next day, Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) summoned some children who were of the same age as the woman's child and told them to play. They played until they became distracted. Then Imam (as) called out to them suddenly, and they all stood up, including the woman's child, who stood leaning on both his palms for support. Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) called the child forward, confirmed his paternity, and ruled that he inherit from his father. He then ordered the brothers, who had falsely accused the woman, to be lashed one by one as the punishment for false accusation. Umar asked Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as): "How did you reach this judgment?" Imam (as) replied: "I recognized the frailty of the old man from the way the child leaned on his palms to stand up."
3254 - وَ رَوَى عَمْرُو بْنُ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ طَرِيفٍ عَنِ اَلْأَصْبَغِ بْنِ نُبَاتَةَ قَالَ
أُتِيَ عُمَرُ بْنُ اَلْخَطَّابِ بِامْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا شَيْخٌ فَلَمَّا أَنْ وَاقَعَهَا مَاتَ عَلَى بَطْنِهَا فَجَاءَتْ بِوَلَدٍ فَادَّعَى بَنُوهُ أَنَّهَا فَجَرَتْ وَ تَشَاهَدُوا عَلَيْهَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا عُمَرُ أَنْ تُرْجَمَ فَمَرُّوا بِهَا عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَقَالَتْ يَا اِبْنَ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ إِنِّي مَظْلُومَةٌ وَ هَذِهِ حُجَّتِي فَقَالَ "هَاتِي حُجَّتَكِ" فَدَفَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ كِتَاباً فَقَرَأَهُ فَقَالَ "هَذِهِ اَلْمَرْأَةُ تُعْلِمُكُمْ بِيَوْمَ تَزَوَّجَهَا وَ يَوْمَ وَاقَعَهَا وَ كَيْفَ كَانَ جِمَاعُهُ لَهَا رُدُّوا اَلْمَرْأَةَ" فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ اَلْغَدِ دَعَا عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ بِصِبْيَانٍ يَلْعَبُونَ أَتْرَابٍ وَ فِيهِمُ اِبْنُهَا فَقَالَ لَهُمُ "اِلْعَبُوا" فَلَعِبُوا حَتَّى إِذَا أَلْهَاهُمُ اَللَّعِبُ فَصَاحَ بِهِمْ فَقَامُوا وَ قَامَ اَلْغُلاَمُ اَلَّذِي هُوَ اِبْنُ اَلْمَرْأَةِ مُتَّكِئاً عَلَى رَاحَتَيْهِ فَدَعَا بِهِ عَلِيٌّ عَلَيْهِ اَلسَّلاَمُ فَوَرَّثَهُ مِنْ أَبِيهِ وَ جَلَدَ إِخْوَتَهُ اَلْمُفْتَرِينَ حَدّاً حَدّاً فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ كَيْفَ صَنَعْتَ قَالَ "عَرَفْتُ ضَعْفَ اَلشَّيْخِ فِي تُكَأَةِ اَلْغُلاَمِ عَلَى رَاحَتَيْهِ".
