Imam Ali (AS) said, The charm of the Quran are [in the surahs] al-Baqarah and Aāl ‘Imrān.

I said to him: There is a people who, when something of the Quran is mentioned or spoken about, one of them becomes so stunned that, if his hand or his foot were to be cut off, he would not feel anything. So, he said: May Allah be glorified! That is from Satan. They were not ordered to do this. Surely, it is only [to inspire] softness, tenderness, tears, and fear.

“Once I said to abu Ja’far (a.s.) ‘There are people when remembering something from the Holy Quran or is mentioned before them they suffer a shock to the extent that even if their hands or legs are cut they do not realize.’ The Imam said, ‘Glory belongs to Allah. That is from Satan. That is not how believing people are described. It is only softening, tender feelings, a few tears and anxiety.’” Abu Ali al-Ash’ari has narrated from Hassan from abu ‘Imran al-Armani from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Hakam from Jabir from abu Ja’far (a.s.) a similar Hadith.

“Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘Those who have accepted the faith and have kept it pure from injustice have achieved security and guidance.’ (6:82) The Imam said, ‘(It means one) who has kept it (belief) pure from doubt.’”

It is a reference to sharp-shooting.”

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelation to Moses son of ‘Imran, peace be upon him, ‘Whenever you stand before me, do so like a humble and poor person, whenever you read the Torah, read it with sad voice.’”

I said to Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him: May I be sacrificed for you, what is al-Samad? He said: The Master to which one remains firm, during the less and the more (fortunate).

“A house wherein a Muslim reads the Holy Quran is looked upon by the inhabitants of heavens, just as the inhabitants of earth like to look at a shining star in the skies.’”

The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever recites qul huwallahu ahad when he goes to bed, Allah will forgive fifty years of his sins.

Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘A man recited to Amir-ul-Momineen (asws) (the following Verse) “[6:33] We know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah”. He (asws) said: ‘Yes, by Allah (azwj), they had denied him (saww) with an intense denial, but it was hidden. (The meaning of) “but surely they do not call you a liar” is that ‘they would not be able to come up with the refutation in order to belie your (saww) truth’’.

A man recited for the Commander of the Faithful عليه السلام - ‘Fa Innahum La Yukadhdhibunaka wa Lakinna l-Dhalimina bi Ayati-llahi Yajhadun’ so he (i.e. the Imam) said: Indeed by Allah - they rejected him (i.e. the prophet) a most severe rejection, but it (the word in the verse) is softened (i.e. pronounced without Shadda) ‘La Yukdhibunaka’, (that is) they will not come with a falsehood by which to negate your truth (i.e. render it false)

I was in Fayd when Muḥammad ibn ‘Ali ibn Bilāl said, “Let’s go to the grave of Muḥammad ibn Ismā’īl ibn Bazī’.” Once we arrived at his grave, Muḥammad ibn ‘Ali said: The owner of this grave narrated to me from one of the two Imams (a.s.), who said: Those who visit the graves of their brothers from among the believers, place their hands on the graves, face the Qiblah, and then recite (the chapter of) “Innā Anzalnāh” seven times will be safe from the Great Terror.

I asked him about the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «And no leaf except that He knows it, and no grain is in the darknesses of the earth, nor (likewise) any moist, nor dry (thing), except that it is (mentioned) in a clear Book.» (6:59) He said: Then he said: The leaf is the miscarried fetus, the grain is the child, the darknesses of the earth are wombs, the moist is that which lives and the dry is that which is not perfected; all of that is (mentioned) in a clear Book.

I asked Al-Ridha about the Unity. The Imam (s) said, ‘Whoever recites (the Quranic verse) ‘Say, He is Allah, the One and Only’ and believes in it has recognized Unity.’ Then I asked, ‘How should we recite it?’ The Imam (s) said, ‘ Recite it as the people recite it.’ The Imam (s) also added, ‘Kathaleka Rabbi. Kathaleka Rabbi’ (This is how my Lord is. This is how my Lord is)’ for three times.’”

“Allah revealed onto Prophet Dawood, ‘O Dawood! If a believer commits sins and repents for it and feels ashamed in front of Me while repenting I forgive him. I will make the angel forget this sin and convert this sin into a good deed. I do not care (it is not difficult for me) for I am the Most Merciful’.”

I asked Abu Ja`far al-Baqir (AS): “Verily, the people in our presence are talking increasingly about the attributes of Allah. What should we say? So, he (AS) replied, “It is abhorred [makruh]. Do you not hear Allah, the Mighty and High, saying that And that to your Lord is the end of all. Speak about other than that.”

The genies bother my family.’ The Imam (MGB) asked him, ‘How tall is the ceiling of your house?’ He answered, ‘It is ten Zar’as.’ The Imam (MGB) said, ‘You should not build a house with a ceiling higher than eight Zar’as. You should have the verse of the Throne (Ayat al-Kursi) inscribed as a decoration around it. Any room that is taller than eight Zar’as would be occupied by genies.’”

One of my forefathers (as) heard a man recite Umm al-Quran (al-Fatiha), so he said: “Thanksgiving and reward.” Then, he heard him recite qul huwallahu ahad, so he said: “Safe and secure.” Then, he heard him recite inna anzalnahu, so he said: “He spoke the truth, and he was forgiven.” Then, he heard him recite Ayat al-Kursi, so he said: “Bravo, bravo! This person has been dissociated from the Fire.”

I met Aba Dharr (rh) and said: O Aba Dharr! I have seen schism, so what do you order me to do? He said: Betake to these two things: The Book of Allah and Shaykh `Ali b. Abi Talib (as), for I have heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: He is the first to believe in me, and he will be the first to shake hands with me on the Day of Resurrection. He is the Great Saint (al-siddiq al-akbar), and he is the Distinguisher (al-faruq) who will distinguish between truth and falsehood.

`Abd al-Rahman b. Ishaq informed me from al-Nu`man b. Sa`d from Amir al-Mu’minin (as). He said: I am the Proof of Allah, the Caliph of Allah, the Path of Allah, the Gate of Allah, the Treasury of Allah’s Knowledge, the Keeper of Allah’s Secret, and the Imam of the World after the Greatest of Creation, Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy (s).
