“Intelligence (al-'Aql) is the guide of a believer.”

“The heart relies on writing.”

Amir al-Mu’minin (as): “Greed motivates the hearts of the ignorant people, longings and yearning keep them as hostages and deceit clings to them.”

“Intelligence is a complete cover (protection) for one and extra knowledge and skills are evident beauty. Compensate your physical shortcomings with your extra knowledge and skills. Fight your desires with help from your intelligence and in so doing friendship is surrendered to and love becomes manifest for you.”

'There is no goodness in life except for two kinds of people, a scholar who is obeyed or an audience who listen carefully.'

“The hujjah (proof) of Allah over the worshippers is the Prophet (sw) and the hujjah (proof) between Allah and the people is the intellect (al-'Aql).”

"May I be your ransom, there is a man who believes in this issue (i.e. the imamah of Ahlul-bayt), but locks himself at home and does not acquaint himself with his community.” So he said, “How will he achieve a good understanding of his religion [without talking to the knowledgable people of his community]?".

“If a scholar preaches and does not practice his words bounce away from the hearts of the audience like rains that bounce away off the rocks.”

No wealth is more profitable than intelligence, and no poverty is more limiting than foolishness and never is showing-off in a matter more beneficial than consulting it [with others]."

“This knowledge (the knowledge of the holy Prophet and Ahlul Bayt(a.s.)) is under a lock and the key to it is asking” Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father from al-Nawfali, from al-Sakuni from Imam abu ‘Abdallah has narrated the same Hadith.

“There is nothing (or no difference) between belief and disbelief, but lack of intelligence." So he asked him, “How is that so oh son of Rasulullah (sw)?”. He replied, "Indeed, when a servant raises his desire to a creation, if he had sincerely intended it for Allah, the one he seeks would respond even faster than that."

he heard Abu ‘Abdillah (al-Sadiq) (as) say, "Acquire good understanding in religion because those of you who do not have good understanding in religion are like the Bedouins. Allah has said in His book, ‘Why do not some people from each group of believers seek to become specialists in religious learning and, after completing their studies, guide their group so that they will have fear of God. (9:122)’”

“Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) has said, ‘My father used to say, ‘Allah does not take back the knowledge that He has sent down. But when the scholar dies it takes away his knowledge and after this the unjust ones come and they go astray and mislead people and there is no good in things without basis.’”

“Once a man came to the holy Prophet (s.a.) and said, ‘O messenger of Allah what is knowledge?’ The holy Prophet replied, “It is silence.” The man then asked, “Then what?” The holy Prophet said, “It is listening.” The man asked, “Then what?” The holy Prophet (s.a.) said, “Then it is memorizing.” The man asked, “Then what?” The holy Prophet said, “Then it is practice accordingly.” The man then asked, “Then what O messenger of Allah?” The holy Prophet said, “Then it is to propagate what one has learned.”

"If people knew the value of seeking knowledge, they would pursue it even at the cost of shedding their own blood and crossing deep waters. Indeed, Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, revealed to Daniel: 'The most despised of My servants to Me is the ignorant one who belittles the rights of the scholars and neglects following them. And the most beloved of My servants to Me is the God-conscious seeker of great reward, who adheres to the scholars, follows the forbearing, and accepts wisdom from the wise.'"

“The world is all ignorance except for the positions of knowledge. All knowledge is considered to be a proof against man,unless it is acted accordingly. All acts are out of hypocrisy, unless they are done sincerely. Sincerity is subject to danger unless a servant (i.e. a person) ponders over what his final ending will be.”

Abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) said, ‘My Hadith is the Hadith of my father. The Hadith of my father is the Hadith of my grandfather. The Hadith of my grandfather is the Hadith of al-Husayn. The Hadith of al-Husayn is the Hadith of al-Hasan. The Hadith of al-Hasan is the Hadith of Amir al-Mu'mineen (a.s.). The Hadith of Amir al-Mu'mineen is the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (sw), and the Hadith of the Messenger of Allah is the words of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious.’

On the Resurrection Day, God shall resurrect as a learned scholar whoever memorizes forty traditions regarding what is forbidden and what is allowed and shall not punish him.”

Amirul Mu’mineen, peace be upon him said: "Knowledge is the most precious legacy, and civility and good manners are beautiful adornments, and thinking intellectually is a clean mirror, and drawing lessons from the events is the best warner and advisor. The best description to cultivate for yourself is to avoid that which you would not like others to do to you." May Allah bless you our master Muhammad, the Prophet, and his pure progeny.

O people! Know that the perfection of religion is seeking knowledge and acting by it. Surely seeking knowledge is more pertinent to you than seeking wealth. Wealth is apportioned and ensured to you. A just allocator divided it amongst you, has ensured it and will be faithful to that apportionment. [Whereas] knowledge is treasured with its people and you have been ordered to seek it from its people, so seek it."
