Abu Abdillah, peace be upon him, said: Between you and between those who oppose you, there is nothing but the plumbing line. I said: And what thing is the plumbing line? He said: That which you call a plumb. Hence, whoever opposes you and crosses it, then dissociate from him, even if he is an Alawite and Fatimid.

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, sent a message to Safwan ibn ‘Umayyah asking him to borrow seventy pieces of coats of arms with their helmets. He asked, ‘Is it forcibly, O Muhammad?’ The Holy Prophet replied, ‘It is borrowing with guarantee to return.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of coloring the beard and head if it is of Sunnah. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is of the Sunnah .’ I then said, ‘’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), did not use dye.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because of the words of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, “This will be dyed with this”.”’

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about a man who dies and there is no one to give him Ghusl (bath) except women. He (the Imam) said that his wife or a relative woman could give him Ghusl (bath). Women just pour water on him. In the case of a woman, her husband gives her Ghusl (bath) by reaching with his hand under her shirt.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that in the house of abu Ja‘far (a.s.), there was al-Fakhtah and he one day heard it crying. He (the Imam) said, ‘Do you know what it (al-Fakhtah) says?’ They replied, ‘No, we do not know.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It says, ‘I have lost you, I have lost you.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘We will lose it before it will lose us.’ He (the Imam) commanded to slaughter it (for food).’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), about a man who performs two Rak‘at obligatory, then forgets and stands up before sitting between them, has said, ‘He sits down until he has not assumed Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees). His Salah (prayer) is complete. If he does not remember until he assumes Ruku‘, he then continues and after Salam (the phrase of offering greeting of peace) performs two Sajdah (prostration) because of mistake in a sitting position?”

Are those who know equal to those who do not know? Only the people of reason take heed.” (39:9) ‘We are the people of knowledge, the people who and it is our enemies who do not know and our followers are the people who take heed and are the people of reason.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that after completing al-Hajj when about to leave, one should buy a dirham worth of dates and give as charity; as expiation for, one, perhaps, during his al- Hajj, one may have scratched his body or may have caused some insect to fall off his body or so.”’

‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘People of the Holy Quran are of the highest degree among men, except the prophets and the messengers of Allah, thus, you should not consider them weak in the matters of their rights; with Allah, the Most Majestic, the Almighty, they have a special status.’”

Whomever exercises control over himself when he desires, when he is terrified, when he craves, when he is angry, and when he is pleased, Allah will forbid his body from the Fire.

Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (a.s.) said, "Do not set out on a journey to visit any graves except for our graves. Know that I have been unjustly killed by poison and am buried in a strange land. Whoever embarks on a journey to visit me, his supplication will be answered, and his sins will be forgiven."

“Once al-Abrash al-Kalbiy complained before abu Ja‘far (a.s.), and said that he did not have any child and asked him (the Imam) to teach him something. He (the Imam) said, say, ‘I ask forgiveness from Allah, my Lord and return to Him in repentance’ one hundred times every day and every night, because Allah says, ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is forgiving. ... He helps you by means of your wealth and sons.’” (71:10)

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin had dug a well, then they threw things in it and it was reported to him (the Imam). He went, stood on the well and said, ‘You must stop throwing things in it, otherwise, I will make the pigeons to use it as their living place.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), then said, ‘The sound of the flapping wings of a pigeon repels Shayatin.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that wives of the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, when required to fast, would wait up to the month of Sha‘ban, due to anticipation that he may forbid them. In the month of Sha‘ban they would fast and the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘Sha‘ban is my month.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of my fasting when I asked the girl to look if it was dawn yet and she said that it was not dawn, yet and I ate; then I looked and saw that it was dawn. He (the Imam) said, ‘You are required to complete that fast and make Qada’ (compensatory fast for it); however, if you yourself had looked first before eating there would have been no Qada’ (compensatory fast) upon you.’”

If he goes out before Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), he stops fasting; and if he goes out after Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), then he fasts.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘This comes from the words of Ali (a.s.), that say, “I fast and stop fasting until it is Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime), thereafter it is definitely obligatory on me, meaning thereby fasting.’””

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about an animal slaughtered by a child. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is acceptable if the child is intelligent, five shibr (a certain unit of measurement) in height and able to use the knife.’ About women he (the Imam) said, ‘If they are all women and no men among them, then the one most intelligent must slaughter and mention the name of Allah on the animal to be slaughtered.’”

You must quarantine it and feed it animal feed, oil residue, nuts, barley and bread, if it is independent of milk; but if it is not independent of milk then feed it with milk of a sheep for seven days, then it can be used for food.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim has stated this Hadith. ‘The milk, that kind of milk which is drawn first, eggs, hairs, wool, horns, teeth, hooves and everything separated from sheep and the stumper is clean but if you take such things after the animal dies then wash it and perform Salat (prayer) with it.’”

“Once abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man who had sheep and cows and he separated the clean and the dead then they became mixed and about what he should do. He (the Imam) said, ‘He can sell it to one who considers dead animals lawful then use what he receives as payment; it is not unlawful.’”
