Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) once a year.

I asked Abu Al-Hasan (as) about a thief who entered upon a pregnant woman, assaulted her, and caused her to miscarry. The woman then attacked the thief and killed him. Imam (as) replied: "The blood of the thief is not avenged (yutallu), but the diyyah (blood money) for her miscarried fetus is due upon her."

he heard saying, ‘The example of this world is like a snake, it is soft to the touch yet within it lies a lethal poison. The wise person is cautious of it, yet children are inclined to touch it with their hands.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Should a man among you who may sell his slave girl to someone, not feel embarrassed, if she says that her previous owner would not attend Salah (prayer) in congregation?”’

"In the year of the conquest, the Euphrates will split until it enters the streets of Kufa."

“In the year of the reappearance, there will be such a terrible flood in the Euphrates that even the lanes of Kufa will be inundated.”

Epistles arrived from Master of Age (a.s) regarding Islamic commands and prohibitions and replies to queries of Shia about that which they were in need of, through Uthman bin Saeed and his son, Abu Ja’far Muhammad bin Uthman in same handwriting in which they came during the period of Imam Askari (a.s). Thus the Shia always trusted the honesty of these two gentlemen till Uthman bin Saeed passed away and his son, Abu Ja’far performed his last rites. After that all responsibilities of the father were transferred to the son and all Shia were confident of his integrity since clear directions had come from Imam (a.s) regarding his honesty and also command for Shia to refer to him, whether during the time of Imam Askari (a.s) or after his martyrdom and even during the time of his father, Uthman.

Abu Abdullah (as) said to me: "Indeed, there is Takbir (declaration of Allah’s (swt) greatness) associated with Eid al-Fitr, but it is a recommended Sunnah." Sa'id said: "I asked: Where is it to be performed?" Imam (as) replied: "On the night of Eid al-Fitr during the Maghrib (sunset prayer) and the Isha (night prayer), during the Fajr (dawn prayer), and during the Eid prayer." In another narration (not from Sa'id), it is also reported: "And during the Zuhr (noon prayer) and Asr (afternoon prayer), and then it ends." Sa'id said: "I asked: How should I say it?" Imam (as) replied: "Say: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, wa Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahi al-hamd. Allahu Akbar for what He has guided us to, and al-hamdulillah for what He has bestowed upon us." This is the statement of Allah (swt), the Almighty and Majestic: “And complete the prescribed period (of fasting), and glorify Allah for having guided you.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:185).

“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) that I suffer from sadness. The Imam instructed me to say very often, ‘Allah, Allah, my Lord, I do not believe in anything as His partner,’ if the insinuation and evil thoughts reduce then say, ‘O Lord, I am Your servant, son of Your servant and the son of Your female servant, my forehead is in Your control. Your judgment about me is just. Your determination about me is effective. O Lord, I plead before You through every name that is Your name that You have revealed in Your book, or have taught it to any of Your creatures, or has kept in the unseen knowledge with You, to bestow al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, make the Holy Quran the light for my eyes, the spring for my heart, removal of my sadness, and banishment of my anxiety. Allah, Allah, my Lord, I do not believe in anything as His partner.’”

Verily Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted, has elevated some lands and (bodies of) water above others. Some of these lands and waters boasted to others and some of them transgressed and they have all been punished for not being humble before Allāh. Therefore, Allāh empowered the polytheists over (the land of the) Ka’bah and made the water of Zamzam salty which has ruined its taste. Verily the land of Karbalā and the water of the Euphrates (River) were the first land and (body of) water which glorified Allāh, the Blessed and the Exalted. Therefore, Allāh blessed them and said to the land of Karbalā, “Speak of that with which Allāh, the Exalted, has honoured you, for verily the lands and the waters have boasted to one another.” The land of Karbalā said: I am the sacred and blessed land of Allāh. The (power to) cure has been placed in my dust and in my water, and I am not arrogant. Rather, I am humble and humiliated before He who has blessed me. I do not boast to those who are lower (in rank) than me. Rather, I am thankful to Allāh. Therefore, Allāh honoured it, increased His blessing on it for its humility, and rewarded it with Ḥusain (a.s.) and his companions. Then Abū ‘Abdillāh (a.s.) added, “Allāh elevates those who humble themselves before Him. And Allāh, the Exalted, degrades those who are arrogant.”

she said: I heard the Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, say: Indeed, on Friday there is an hour that is not observed by a Muslim man in which he asks Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, for goodness, except that He will give it to him. She said: Then I said: O Messenger of Allah, what hour is it? He said: When the half of the sun’s eye sinks down for sunset. He said: Fatima (sa) used to say to her servant: Climb on the elevated rock, and if you see that half of the sun’s eye has sunken for sunset, notify me that I may supplicate.

I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his progeny, stroke the shoulders of ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him and say: "O ‘Ali, whoever loves us is from pure Arab breed and those who hate us are the non-Arab infidels. Our Shi’ahs are people of noble descent and honour, and are of legitimate birth. And there is none on the path of Ibrahim except those who are our Shi’ahs; the rest of the people are away from it. And Allah has appointed angels who demolish the sins of our Shi’ahs, the way a pick destroys a structure."

Hadith.462 - Hussein ibn Saeed wrote to Abu Al-Hasan Imam Ali ibn Musa Ar-Ridha (as), asking about the bier of the deceased: Is there a specific side that should be carried first from among its four sides, or can one carry it from any side that is easiest? Imam (as) replied: "From whichever side he wishes."

Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. Saʿīd narrated to us, he said: ʿAlī b. al-Ḥasan b. Faḍḍāl narrated to us from his father from al-Riḍā . عليه السلام

Abu Saaid narrated that Imam Ali (AS) used to come to the market and exhort, 'O market traders, fear Allah and beware of making false oaths, for though it may sell your goods, it eradicates all benediction thereof. The trader [by nature] is corrupt, except those who take only their right, and give back the right due, and upon you be peace. Then a few days would pass, and he would come there again and exhort them as he did before. And when he would arrive, people would say, 'Here comes the big-bellied man', to which he would reply, 'The bottom of it may be food, but the top is knowledge.

“I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about Zakat of al-Fitrah. He (the Imam) said, ‘Pay it to the Muslims. If you do not find one, pay to a Mustaz‘af (mentally and physically weak) or pay to your relatives, if you like.’”

“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, teach me a comperehensive prayer.’ The Imam said to me, ‘Praise Allah; everyone who performs prayer prays for you saying, “Allah listens to (answers the prayers of) those who praise Him” (a reference to the meaning of the phrase said after Ruku ’ in a prayer).’”

“Abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When you stand up straight after Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees), make your back (bones) stand straight (vertically), otherwise, one’s Salah (prayer) is not considered Salah (prayer).”’

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Wudu’ is one (washing of the face and hands) and one (wiping of the head and feet).’ He (the Imam) then explained about the ankle in the back of the foot.’”

“Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, is far greater and above leaving the earth without an Imam of justice.”
