Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who applies Noorah and dyes his body with henna Allah would keep him away from three things till he applies them again. Those three things are diseases like leprosy, leucoderma and scabies.”

Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) asked, “What is the distance between you and the grave of Ḥusain?” I replied, “Sixteen parasangs.” Imam (a.s.) asked, “Do you not go to him?” I replied, “No.” Imam (a.s.) said, “How negligent you people are!!!”

Whenever a servant (i.e. a person) falls asleep while he is prostrating, the Honorable the Exalted God will tell the angels: Look at My servant! I took away his soul while he was obeying Me.”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘In salt there is cure for seventy kinds of pains.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘Had people known that which is in salt they would not seek treatment for an illness with anything other than salt.’”

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who do not go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) will be deprived of many great blessings and one year will be reduced from their lifespan.

“Al-Husayn (a.s.) passed away on the day of ‘Ashura’ and he was fifty seven years old.”

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) about how to bid farewell to the grave of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.). Imam (a.s.) replied: Recite the following: Allāh’s blessing be upon you. Salām to you. May Allāh not make this the last time I say Salām to you.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Dawud ibn Surhan has been transmitted by me from my father and from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) have mercy on them both - from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn 'Isa, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Nasr Al-Bazanti and Abdur Rahman ibn Abi Najran, from Dawud ibn Surhan Al-'Attar Al-Kufi.

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: You shall see two graves when you go to Gharī, a large grave and a small grave. The large grave is the grave of the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) and the small grave is where the head of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was buried.

“There are some men about whom Allah will not care at all. They have wombs like women.” Imam was asked, “Don’t these men get pregnant?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Their wombs are like balloons.”

“A believer who accepts advice or an ignorant person who learns will listen to the enjoinment of the good and the admonishment against evil. However, one who has the whip and the sword will not.”

No one can benefit from those who lack five characteristics: religion; intellect; politeness; freedom-loving; and a good temper.”

regarding the Words of the Honorable the Exalted God, ‘Then let them complete the rites prescribed for them, perform their vows…’ Abul Hassan (s) said the following, “The rites consist of cutting the nails, cleaning the body, and leaving the state of ritual consecration for the Hajj (‘Ihram).”

Everyone’s friend is his intellect and everyone’s enemy is his ignorance.”

1. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) says, “Surely, the excellence of the Fridays of the month of Ramadan over ordinary Fridays is like the excellence of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) over other prophets. Similar is the excellence of the month of Ramadan over all months.”

“On one of the occasion of my meeting with abu Ja‘far (a.s.) when I went tosee him he asked me to wait until the sun became very hot on me. I tried to follow the shadow from the sun. No very long thereafter a people came out of his presence that looked like locusts dressed in large gowns and very oale and slim due to extensive worshipping. Their beautiful scene made me to forget other things. When I went in the presence of the Imam (a.s.) he said, “I am afraid I caused you hardships.” I said, “Yes, it was difficult but, by Allah, I forgot other things when I saw them. A people passed by the like of whose beauty I had not seen before. They looked like locusts and pale and slim due to worshipping a great deal.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “O Sa‘d , did you see them?” I said, “Yes, I saw them.” The Imam (a.s.) said, “They are your brethren from Jinns.” The narrator has said that he asked The Imam (a.s.), “Do they come to you?” He said, “Yes, they come to us for religious instructions and to learn the lawful and unlawful matters.”

I heard a man ask Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) if one has to perform Ghusl before going to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.). Imam (a.s.) replied, “No.” The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chains: A) All of my scholars, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn Ḥusain, from Ayyūb ibn Nūḥ, and from others, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Mughīrah, from Abil Yasā’, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.). B) Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥusain, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, from his father ‘Ali, from Ayyūb ibn Nūḥ, and from others, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Mughīrah, from Abil Yasa’, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

(One day) when I was with Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) he asked for some water. After he drank it, his eyes were filled with tears and he started to cry. Then he (the Imam (a.s.)) said to me: O Dāwūd! May Allāh’s curse be upon the killers of Ḥusain (a.s.). Verily if a slave (of Allāh) drinks water, remembering Ḥusain (a.s.) and cursing his killers, Allāh will register one hundred thousand good deeds for him. He will wipe one hundred thousand bad deeds from his (book of) deeds and will add one hundred thousand ranks to his status; and it will be as if he has freed one hundred thousand slaves. On the Day of Judgment, Allāh will resurrect him with his heart filled with peace. The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb (Al-Kulayni), from ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad, from Sahl ibn Ziyād, from Ja’far ibn Ibrāhīm Al-Ḥaďrami, from Sa’d ibn Sa’d.

And whatever is narrated in various reports regarding the legal cases of Amir Al-Muʾminin, peace be upon him, I have narrated it from my father and from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with them - from Saʿd ibn Abdullah, from Ibrahim ibn Hashim, from Abd Al-Rahman ibn Abi Najran, from Aṣim ibn Humayd, from Muhammad ibn Qays, from Abu Jafar, peace be upon him.

2. The Almighty Allah says: “My mercy will not reach one who testifies falsely and a fornicator will not come near Me on the Day of Judgment.”
