hadith 535
58-4 Muhammad ibn Ali Majilawayh, Muhammad ibn Musa al-Mutawakkil and Ahmad ibn Ziyad ibn Ja’far al-Hamadani - may God be pleased with them - narrated that Ali ibn Ibrahim ibn Hashem quoted on the authority of Yasir (the servant of Imam Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.)), “Zayd ibn Musa - the brother of Abil Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) rebelled in Medina. He put houses on fire and killed some people. That is why he is called ‘Zayd al-Nar’ Then Al-Ma’mun had him arrested and brought to him. Then Al-Ma’mun orderd that Zayd be taken to (his brother) Abil Hassan (Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.)).”Then Yasir (the servant of Imam Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.)) added, “When Zayd was taken to the Imam (a.s.), Abul Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) asked him, ‘O Zayd! Have the words of the narrators from Kufa made you so proud when they say, ‘Fatima (a.s.) maintained her chastity, thus God has forbidden the Fire from touching her progeny.’ By God, this holds true only for Al-Hassan (a.s.), Al-Husayn (a.s.) and Fatima’s own especial offspring. However, if it were the case that your father Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.) obeyed God, fasted in the daytime and worshipped God at night, but you disobey God and claim to be equal to him (Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.)) in the Hereafter on the Resurrection Day, this would imply that you are dearer than him in the sight of God. By God, no one can attain the ranks near God the Honorable the Exalted except by obeying Him. Do you think that you can attain such ranks by committing sins? Surely you are wrong.’ Zayd said, ‘
I am your brother and the son of your father.’ Then Abul Hassan Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) told him, ’You are only my brother when you obey God the Honorable the Exalted. Indeed in the Holy Qur’an it says, ‘And Noah called upon his Lord, and said, ‘O my Lord! surely my son is of my family! and Thy promise is true, and Thou art the Justest of Judges!’ Then God the Honorable the Exalted said, ‘…O Noah! He is not of thy family: For his conduct is unrighteous.’ And God threw him out (of Noah’s family) since he was a sinner.’”
4 - حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِى ماجِيلوَيْه وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَىالمُتَوَكِّل وَأَحْمَدِ بْنِ زِياد بْنِ‏الهَمْدانِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ قالُوا حَدَّثَنا عَلِىِّ بْنِ إِبراهِيمِ بْنِ هاشِم قالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَاسِرٌ أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ زَيْدُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَخُو أَبِي الْحَسَنِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَحْرَقَ وَقَتَلَ وَكَانَ يُسَمَّى زَيْدَ النَّارِ فَبَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ الْمَأْمُونُ فَأُسِرَ وَحُمِلَ إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ فَقَالَ
الْمَأْمُونُ اذْهَبُوا بِهِ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ قَالَ يَاسِرٌ فَلَمَّا أُدْخِلَ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ لَهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَا زَيْدُ أَغَرَّكَ قَوْلُ سَفِلَةِ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ أَحْصَنَتْ فَرْجَهَا فَحَرَّمَ اللَّهُ ذُرِّيَّتَهَا عَلَى النَّارِ ذَاكَ لِلْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ‏خَاصَّةً إِنْ كُنْتَ تَرَى أَنَّكَ تَعْصِي اللَّهَ وَتَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ وَدَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَأَنْتَ إِذاً أَكْرَمُ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَاللَّهِ مَا يَنَالُ أَحَدٌ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلا بِطَاعَتِهِ وَزَعَمْتَ أَنَّكَ تَنَالُهُ بِمَعْصِيَتِهِ فَبِئْسَ مَا زَعَمْتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ زَيْدٌ أَنَا أَخُوكَ وَابْنُ أَبِيكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ‏أَنْتَ أَخِي مَا أَطَعْتَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّ نُوحاً عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ابْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِي وَإِنَّ وَعْدَكَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنْتَ أَحْكَمُ الْحاكِمِينَ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يا نُوحُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ إِنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صالِحٍ فَأَخْرَجَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ بِمَعْصِيَتِهِ.

hadith 534
58-3 Abul Khayr Ali ibn Ahmad al-Nassaba quoted on the authority of his own elders that Zayd ibn Musa was appointed as the intimate companion for Al-Montasir. Al-Montasir was very eloquent in speech, but was of the Zaydite sect. He lived in Baghdad next to the Karkhaya River. He was the same person who had become the head of the army during the time of Abul Saraya. When Abul Saraya was killed, the Zaydites were dispersed. Some of them fled away to Baghdad, others went to Kufa while some others fled to Medina. Zayd ibn Musa (Ar-Ridha’’s brother) was also one of those who had fled. Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl chased him, finally caught him and imprisoned him. One day he (Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl) summoned Zayd to execute him. When the executioner arrived and drew out his sword in order to chop off Zayd’s neck, Al-Hajjaj ibn Khaythama who was present there said, ‘
O Commander! Do not rush. Call me forward to give you some advice.’ Then Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl ordered the executioner to withdraw the sword and called Al-Haj’jaj ibn Khaythama forward. Al-Hajjaj ibn Khaythama asked, ‘O Commander! Has the Commander of the Faithful (Harun Ar-Rashid) ordered that Zayd be executed?’ He replied, ‘No.’ Then Al-Haj’jaj ibn Khaythama said, ’Then what allows you to kill the cousin of the Commander of the Faithful (Harun Ar-Rashid), while Harun has not issued this order, and you yourself have not sought his permission either?’ Then Al-Hajjaj ibn Khaythama told Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl the story of Abdullah ibn Aftas - Harun Ar-Rashid’s cousin - who had been imprisoned by Harun by Ja’far ibn Yahya. Ja’far ibn Yahya had killed Abdullah ibn Aftas during the New Year holidays, placed his head on a tray and sent it to Harun as a gift. Later, when Harun issued the order Masrur al-Kabir to kill Ja’far ibn Yahya, he told him, ‘If Ja’far ibn Yahya asks the reason for killing him, tell him that this is the reward for you for killing my cousin Abdullah ibn al-Aftas without my order to do so.’Then al-Hajjaj ibn al-Khaythama asked Hassan ibn Sahl, ‘Are you sure that if anything happens to your relationship with the Commander of the Faithful Harun, he would not make killing his cousin an excuse to kill you just as he (Harun) did to Ja’far ibn Yahya?’ Then Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl told Al-Hassan al-Hajjaj said, ‘May God grant you a good reward!’ Then Al-Hassan ibn Fadhl ordered that Zayd be returned to jail. He stayed in jail until the reign of Ibrahim ibn Al-Mahdi when the people of Baghdad rebelled against Hassan ibn Sahl and threw him out of Baghdad. Then Al-Ma’mun’s agents released Zayd from jail, and Al-Ma’mun sent him to his brother Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.). Zayd ibn Musa lived until the end of Al-Mutawakkil’s rule and then died.”
3- حَدَّثَنَا أبُو الْخَيْرِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أحْمَدَ النَّسَّابَةُ عَنْمَشَايِخِهِ أنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ مُوسَى
كَانَ يُنَادِمُ الْمُسْتَنْصِرَ وَكَانَ فِی لِسَانِهِ فَضْلٌ وَكَانَ زَيْدِيّاً وَكَانَ زَيْدٌ هَذَا يَنْزِلُ بَغْدَادَ عَلَى نَهْرِ كَرْخَايَا وَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ بِالكُوفَةِ أيَّامَ أبِي السَّرَايَا فَوَلاَّهُ، فَلَمَّا قُتِلَ أبُو السَّرَايَا تَفَرَّقَ الطَّالِبِيُّونَ فَتَوَارَى بَعْضُهُمْ بِبَغْدَادَ وَبَعْضُهُمْ بِالكُوفَةِ، وَصَارَ بَعْضُهُمْ إلى الْمَدِينَةِ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ تَوَارَى زَيْدُ بْنُ مُوسَى هَذا فَطَلَبَهُ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ حَتّى دُلَّ عَلَيْهِ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَحَبَسَهُ ثُمَّ أحْضَرَهُ عَلَى أنْ يَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ وَجَرَّدَ السَّيَّافُ السَّيْفَ لِيَضْرِبَ عُنُقَهُ وَكَانَ حَضَرَ هُنَاكَ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ خَيْثَمَةَ فَقَالَ: أيُّهَا الأمِيرُ إنْ رَأيْتَ أنْ لا تَعْجَلَ وَتَدْعُوَنِي إلَيْكَ فَإنَّ عِنْدِي نَصِيحَةً. فَفَعَلَ وَأمْسَكَ السَّيَّافُ، فَلَمَّا دَنَا مِنْهُ قَالَ: أيُّهَا الأمِيرُ أتَاكَ بِمَا تُرِيدُ أنْ تَفْعَلَهُ أمْرٌ مِنْ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؟ قَالَ: لا. قَال: فَعَلامَ تَقْتُلُ ابْنَ عَمِّ أمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ غَيْرِ إذْنِهِ وَأمْرِهِ وَاسْتِطْلاعِ رَأيِهِ فِيهِ؟ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَهُ بِحَدِيثِ أبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الأفْطَسِ وَإنَّ الرَّشِيدَ حَبَسَهُ عِنْدَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى فَأقْدَمَ عَلَيْهِ جَعْفَرٌ فَقَتَلَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ أمْرِهِ وَبَعَثَ بِرَأسِهِ إلَيْهِ فِي طَبَقٍ مَعَ هَدَايا النَّيْروزِ وَإنَّ الرَّشِيدَ لَمَّا أمَرَ مَسْرُوراً الكَبِيرَ بِقَتْلِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يحيى قَالَ لَهُ إذَا سَألَكَ جَعْفَرٌ عَنْ ذَنْبِهِ الَّذِي تَقْتُلُهُ بِهِ فَقُلْ لَهُ إنَّمَا أقْتُلُكَ بِابْنِ عَمِّي ابْنِ الأفْطَسِ الَّذِي قَتَلْتَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ أمْرِي.ثُمَّ قَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ خَثيمَةَ لِلْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ: أَفَتَأمَنُ أيُّهَا الأمِيرُ حَادِثَةً تَحْدُثُ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ أمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَقَدْ قَتَلْتَ هَذا الرَّجُلَ فَيَحْتَجُّ عَلَيْكَ بِمِثْلِ مَا احْتَجَّ بِهِ الرَّشِيدُ عَلَى جَعْفَرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى؟ فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ لِلْحَجَّاجِ: جَزَاكَ اللهُ خَيْراً. ثُمَّ أمَرَ بِرَفْعِ زَيْدٍ وَأنْ يُرَدَّ إلى مَحْبَسِهِ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَحْبُوساً إلى أنْ ظَهَرَ أمْرُ إبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْمُهْتَدِي فَخَيَّرَ أهْلَ بَغْدَادَ بِالْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ فَأَخْرَجُوهُ عَنْهَا فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَحْبُوساً حَتَّى حُمِلَ إلَى الْمَأمُونِ فَبَعَثَ بِهِ إلَى أخِيهِ الرِّضَا عَلَيْه السَّلامُ فَأطْلَقَهُ. وَعَاشَ زَيْدُ بْنُ مُوسَى إلى آخِرِ خِلافَةِ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ وَمَاتَ بِسُرَّ مَنْ رَأى.

hadith 533
58-2 Al-Hakim Abu Ali Al-Husayn ibn Ahmad al-Bayhaqi narrated that Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Sowli quoted on the authority of Muhammad ibn Zayd al-Nahawi, on the authority of Ibn Abi Abdoon, on the authority of his father
“Zayd ibn Musa - Ar-Ridha’’s brother - rebelled in Basra (in Iraq) in the year 199 A.H. (814 A.D.) and put the Abbasids’ houses on fire. That is why he was called Zayd al-Nar. When Zayd was arrested, Al-Ma’mun told him, ‘O Zayd! You rebelled in Basra (in Iraq) and instead of starting with burning the homes of our enemies from the Tribes of the Umayyads, Thaqeef, Adiy, Bahila and the Aal Ziyad, you started with burning the homes of your cousins!’ Zayd was somewhat ofa joker and replied, ‘O the Commander of the Faithful (Al-Ma’mun)! I made a big mistake. If I return, I will attend to them (those tribes) this time.’ Al-Ma’mun started to laugh and sent him to his brother Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) with a message saying, ‘I forgave his crime for your sake.” When they brought Zayd in, Imam Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) blamed him and told him, ‘You are free to go anywhere you wish.’ Then the Imam (a.s.) never spoke to him again for as long as he lived.”
2 - حَدَّثَنا الْحاكِم أَبُو عَلِي الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أحْمَدالْبِيْهَقِيُّ قالَ حَدَّثَني مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الصُّوليُّ قالَ حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَزِيد النحوي قالَ حَدَّثَني ابْنِ أَبي عَبْدون عَنْ أَبيهِ قالَ
لَمَّا جِي‏ءَ بِزَيْدِ بْنِ مُوسَى أَخِي الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ وَقَدْ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ وَأَحْرَقَ دُورَ الْعَبَّاسِيِّينَ وَذَلِكَ فِي سَنَةِ تِسْعٍ وَتِسْعِينَ وَمِائَةٍ فَسُمِّيَ زَيْدُ النَّارِ قَالَ لَهُ الْمَأْمُونُ يَا زَيْدُ خَرَجْتَ بِالْبَصْرَةِ وَتَرَكْتَ أَنْ تَبْدَأَ بِدُورِ أَعْدَائِنَا مِنْ أُمَيَّةَ وَثَقِيفٍ وَغَنِيٍّ وَبَاهِلَةَ وَآلِ زِيَادٍ وَقَصَدْتَ دُورَ بَنِي عَمِّكَ فَقَالَ وَكَانَ مَزَّاحاً أَخْطَأْتُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْكُلِّ جِهَةٍ وَإِنْ عُدْتُ بَدَأْتُ بِأَعْدَائِنَا فَضَحِكَ الْمَأْمُونُ وَبَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى أَخِيهِ الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَقَالَ لَهُ قَدْ وَهَبْتُ جُرْمَهُ لَكَ فَلَمَّا جَاءُوا بِهِ عَنَّفَهُ وَخَلَّى سَبِيلَهُ وَحَلَفَ أَنْ لا يُكَلِّمَهُ أَبَداً مَا عَاشَ.

6-39 Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn al-Hussein ibn Yusuf al-Baghdady narrated that Ahmad ibn al-Fazl al-Ahwazi quoted Bakr ibn Ahmad al-Qasri, on the authority of Zayd ibn Musa, on the authority of Abi Musa ibn Ja’far (MGB) , on the authority of his father Ja’far ibn Muhammad (MGB), on the authority of his father Muhammad ibn Ali (MGB), on the authority of his father Ali ibn al-Hussein (MGB), on the authority of his father Al-Hussein ibn Ali (MGB), that his father Ali ibn Abi Talib (MGB) said, “
Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Talha, Az-Zubayr, Saéd, Abdul Rahman ibn Oaf and some others were looking for the Prophet (MGB) in the house of Umma Salma. They found me sitting at the door. They asked me about him (MGB). I said, ‘The Prophet (MGB) will come out in a moment.’ The Prophet (MGB) came out, padded me on the shoulder and said, ‘O son of Abi Talib! I hope that you do not die. You have superseded others in sixcharacteristics. There is no one else among the Quraysh with such qualities. You are the first man who believed in God. You have been the firmest of them all in doing the orders of the Honorable the Exalted God. You have been the most loyal to your pledge to God. You have been the kindest person with the people. You are the most knowledgeable regarding judicial decrees. You have been the most fair person in equally dividing up the possessions. You are the noblest of them all to the Honorable the Exalted God.”
6-39 حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن الحسين بن يوسف البغدادي قال: حدثنا أحمد ابن الفضل الاهوازي قال: حدثنا بكر بن أحمد القصري قال: حدثنا زيد بن موسى قال: حدثني أبي موسى بن جعفر، عن أبيه جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه محمد بن علي، عن أبيه علي بن الحسين، عن أبيه الحسين بن علي، عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب عليهم السلام قال
خرج أبوبكر وعمر وعثمان وطلحة والزبير وسعد وعبدالرحمن بن عوف وغير واحد من الصحابة يطلبون النبي في بيت ام سلمة فوجدوني على الباب جالسا فسألوني عنه، فقلت: يخرج الساعة، فلم يلبث أن خرج وضرب بيـدهعلى ظهري فقال: كبر يا بن أبي طالب، فإنك تخاصم الناس بعدي بست خصال فتخصمهم، ليست في قريش منها شيء، إنك أولهم إيمانا بالله، وأقومهم بأمر الله عز وجل، وأوفاهم بعهد الله، وأرأفهم بالرعية، وأعلمهم بالقضية، وأقسمهم بالسوية، وأفضلهم عند الله عز وجل

hadith 537
58-6 Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Imran al-Daqqaq - may God be pleased with him - narrated that Muhammad ibn Abi Abdullah al-Kufi quoted on the authority of Abul Khayr Salih ibn Abi Hammad, on the authority of Al-Hassan ibn Al-Jahm
“I was in the presence of Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) and his brother Zayd ibn Musa was with him. Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) told Zayd, ‘O Zayd! Fear God. Beware that we have attained this rank purely through piety. If anyone does not fear God and does not safeguard himself (from evil) not one of us. O Zayd! Do not insult any of our Shiites (followers) whom you find mastery over, lest you will lose your status. O Zayd! The people hate our followers these days due to their love for and belief in us. They fight with our followers, consider it allowable to take away their property and kill them. If you treat our followers badly just as other people do, then you have indeed oppressed your own soul and have ruined your own right.’”

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَعِنْدَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَخُوهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ يَا زَيْدُ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ فَإِنَّا بَلَغْنَا مَا بَلَغْنَا بِالتَّقْوَى فَمَنْ لَمْ يَتَّقِ وَلَمْ يُرَاقِبْهُ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا وَلَسْنَا مِنْهُ يَا زَيْدُ إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تُهِينَ مَنْ بِهِ تَصُولُ مِنْ شِيعَتِنَا فَيَذْهَبَ نُورُكَ يَا زَيْدُ إِنَّ شِيعَتَنَا إِنَّمَا أَبْغَضَهُمُ النَّاسُ وَعَادُوهُمْ وَاسْتَحَلُّوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ لَِمحَبَّتِهِمْ لَنَا وَاعْتِقَادِهِمْ لِوَلايَتِنَا فَإِنْ أَنْتَ أَسَأْتَ إِلَيْهِمْ ظَلَمْتَ نَفْسَكَ وَأَبْطَلْتَ حَقَّكَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ لِي يَا ابْنَ الْجَهْمِ مَنْ خَالَفَ دِينَ اللَّهِ فَابْرَأْ مِنْهُ كَائِناً مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَيِّ قَبِيلَةٍ كَانَ وَمَنْ عَادَى اللَّهَ فَلا تُوَالِهِ كَائِناً مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَيِّ قَبِيلَةٍ كَانَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَمَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يُعَادِي اللَّهَ قَالَ مَنْ يَعْصِيهِ.

10-10 Aḥmad b. al-Ḥasan al-Qaṭṭān, Aḥmad b. Muḥammad b. al-Haytham al-ʿIjlī, ʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. Mūsā, Muḥammad b. Aḥmad al-Sinānī, al-Ḥusayn b. Ibrāhīm b. Aḥmad b. Hishām al-Mukattib, and ʿAlī b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Warrāq, may God be pleased with them all, narrated to me, they said: Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad b. Yaḥyā b. Zakariyyā al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us; from Bakr b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥabīb, he said: Muḥammad b. Zakariyyā narrated to us, he said: ʿAbd Allāh b. al-Ḍaḥḥāk narrated to us, he said: Zayd b. Mūsā b. Abī Ṭālib (ʿas). This was also narrated to us through Bakr b. ʿAbd Allāh b. Ḥabīb, he said: Tamīm b. Buhlūl narrated to us, he said: Saʿd b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Makhzūmī narrated to us; from al-Ḥusayn b. Zayd; from Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad (ʿas); from his father, Muḥammad b. ʿAlī (ʿas); from his father, ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn (ʿas); from his father, al-Ḥusayn (ʿas); from his father, ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib (ʿas), who said that the
Messenger of God (ṣ) said, "O' ʿAlī, give good news to your Shīʿahs and your helpers of ten distinctive characteristics. The first, they are of pure birth. Second, their faith in God is good. Third, God - Mighty and Exalted - loves them. Fourth, their graves shall be spacious. Fifth, the Path will be illuminated before their eyes. Sixth, the elimination of poverty from before their eyes and the wealth of their hearts. Seventh, God's detestation for their enemies. Eighth, they are safe from leprosy, vitiligo, and insanity. O' ʿAlī, the ninth is that their sins and transgressions shall fall away from them. And tenth, they shall be with me in the Garden, and I with them."

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله: يا علي بشر شيعتك وأنصارك بخصال عشر: أولها طيب المولد، وثانيها حسن إيمانهم بالله، وثالثها حب الله عز وجل لهم، ورابعها الفسحة في قبورهم، وخامسها النور على الصراط بين أعينهم، وسادسها نزع الفقر من بين أعينهم، وغنى قلوبهم، وسابعها المقت من الله عز وجل لاعدائهم، وثامنها الامن من الجذام [والبرص والجنون]، ياعلي وتاسعها انحطاط الذنوب والسيئات عنهم، وعاشرها هم معي في الجنة وأنا معهم

15. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from one of our people whose name he mentioned. He said that Muhammad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, that Musa ibn Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il ibn ‘Ubaydallah ibn ‘Abbass ibn Ali ibn abu Talib narrated to us from Ja’far ibn Zayd ibn Musa from his father, from his forefathers the following. “One day ’Umm Aslam came to the Holy Prophet (s.a) when he was in the house of ’Umm salama. She asked about the Messenger of Allah. ’Umm Salama relied that he had just went out for some thing and that he would return soon. She then waited with ’Umm Salama until he (the Messenger of Allah) came. ’Umm Aslam then said, “
May Allah take my soul and the souls of my parents in service for your cause, Messenger of Allah, I have read the books and have learned about all the prophets and the executors of the their will. Moses had an executor for his will even in his life time and an executor of the will after he died. So also was Jesus. Who then is the executor of your will, O the Messenger of Allah?” He then said to her, “O ’Umm Aslam, the executor of my will in my lifetime and after I will is the same person.” Then he said to her, “O ’Umm Aslam, “Whoever would be able to do what I intend to do just now he is and will be the executor of my will.” He then picked up a pebble from the floor and crushed it with his fingers into something like flour. He then turned it into a piece of clay and then printed his seal on it and said, “Whoever would be able to do what I just did he will be theexecutor of my will in my lifetime and after I will die.” She then left him. She has said that she went to Amir al-Mu’minin Ali (a.s.) and said, “May Allah take my soul and the souls of my parents in service for your cause, are you the executor orf the will of the Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Yes, I am, O ’Umm Aslam.” He then picked up a pebble, crushed it into powder like flour, turned it into clay and printed his seal on it. He then said, “O ’Umm Aslam, whoever would be able to do what I just did he will be the executor of my will.” I them went to al-Hassan (a.s.) while he was a young boy. I asked him, “My master, are you the executor of the will of yourfather?” He said, “Yes, I am, O ’Umm Aslam.” He picked up a pebble and did exactly what his father had done. I left him and went ot al-Husayn (a.s.) and considered him very little because of his young age. I asked him, “Are you the executor of the will of your brother?” He saaid, “Yes, I am. O ’Umm Aslam bring me a pebble.” He then did exactly what they had done. She has said that she lived until she met Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) after the martyrdom of his father, on his return from Iraq. I asked him, “Are you the executor of the will of your father?” He said, “Yes, I am. He then also did exactly what they (a.s.) had done.”
15ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا ذَكَرَ اسْمَهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ الله بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ (عَلَيْهم السَّلام) قَالُوا
جَاءَتْ أُمُّ أَسْلَمَ يَوْماً إِلَى النَّبِيِّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) وَهُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَسَأَلَتْهَا عَنْ رَسُولِ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَتْ خَرَجَ فِي بَعْضِ الْحَوَائِجِ وَالسَّاعَةَ يَجِي‏ءُ فَانْتَظَرَتْهُ عِنْدَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ حَتَّى جَاءَ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ أَسْلَمَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ الله إِنِّي قَدْ قَرَأْتُ الْكُتُبَ وَعَلِمْتُ كُلَّ نَبِيٍّ وَوَصِيٍّ فَمُوسَى كَانَ لَهُ وَصِيٌّ فِي حَيَاتِهِ وَوَصِيٌّ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ وَكَذَلِكَ عِيسَى فَمَنْ وَصِيُّكَ يَا رَسُولَ الله فَقَالَ لَهَا يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ وَصِيِّي فِي حَيَاتِي وَبَعْدَ مَمَاتِي وَاحِدٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فَعَلَ فِعْلِي هَذَا فَهُوَ وَصِيِّي ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى حَصَاةٍ مِنَ الارْضِ فَفَرَكَهَا بِإِصْبَعِهِ فَجَعَلَهَا شِبْهَ الدَّقِيقِ ثُمَّ عَجَنَهَا ثُمَّ طَبَعَهَا بِخَاتَمِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ فَعَلَ فِعْلِي هَذَا فَهُوَ وَصِيِّي فِي حَيَاتِي وَبَعْدَ مَمَاتِي فَخَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَأَتَيْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فَقُلْتُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي أَنْتَ وَصِيُّ رَسُولِ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى حَصَاةٍ فَفَرَكَهَا فَجَعَلَهَا كَهَيْئَةِ الدَّقِيقِ ثُمَّ عَجَنَهَا وَخَتَمَهَا بِخَاتَمِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ مَنْ فَعَلَ فِعْلِي هَذَا فَهُوَ وَصِيِّي فَأَتَيْتُ الْحَسَنَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) وَهُوَ غُلامٌ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا سَيِّدِي أَنْتَ وَصِيُّ أَبِيكَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ وَأَخَذَ حَصَاةً فَفَعَلَ بِهَا كَفِعْلِهِمَا فَخَرَجْتُ مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَأَتَيْتُ الْحُسَيْنَ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) وَإِنِّي لَمُسْتَصْغِرَةٌ لِسِنِّهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي أَنْتَ وَصِيُّ أَخِيكَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ يَا أُمَّ أَسْلَمَ ائْتِينِي بِحَصَاةٍ ثُمَّ فَعَلَ كَفِعْلِهِمْ فَعَمَرَتْ أُمُّ أَسْلَمَ حَتَّى لَحِقَتْ بِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بَعْدَ قَتْلِ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فِي مُنْصَرَفِهِ فَسَأَلَتْهُ أَنْتَ وَصِيُّ أَبِيكَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ ثُمَّ فَعَلَ كَفِعْلِهِمْ صَلَوَاتُ الله عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْمَعِينَ.

Ahmad b. Yahya al-Maktab reported to us, saying: Muhammad b. Yahya al-Sulami informed us, saying: Muhammad b. Yazid al-Nahwi reported to me, saying: Ibn Abi Abdun narrated from his father, who said
When Zayd b. Musa b. Ja'far was taken to al-Ma'mun, having come out from al-Basrah and burned the houses of the descendants of al-Abbas, al-Ma'mun granted him a pardon for his brother Ali b. Musa al-Ridha (as) and said to him: "O Abu al-Hasan, if your brother comes out and does what he did, then indeed, Zayd b. Ali had come out before him and was killed. If it were not for your position with me, I would have killed him, for what he has done is not trivial." Al-Ridha (as) replied: "O Commander of the Faithful, do not compare my brother Zayd with Zayd b. Ali (as), for he was among the scholars of the family of Muhammad, who became angry for the sake of Allah and fought against his enemies until he was killed in His cause. Indeed, my father Musa b. Ja'far (as) informed me that he heard his father Ja'far b. Muhammad say: 'May Allah have mercy on my uncle Zayd; he called to the right of the family of Muhammad, and if he had been victorious, he would have fulfilled what he called to. He consulted me about his uprising, and I told him: O my uncle, if you are content to be the killed one who is crucified in the Kunasah (a place of public display), then it is your affair.' When he turned away, Ja'far b. Muhammad said: 'Woe to him who hears his warning and does not respond to him.'" Al-Ma'mun said: "O Abu al-Hasan, has not what has come regarding those who claim the Imamate without right been said?" Al-Ridha (as) replied: "Indeed, Zayd b. Ali (as) did not claim what was not rightfully his; he was more pious to Allah than that. He said: 'I call you to the right of the family of Muhammad.' What has been said regarding those who claim that Allah appointed them, then call to other than the religion of Allah, and mislead from His path without knowledge, is different. Zayd, by Allah, is among those addressed by this verse: 'And strive in the cause of Allah with the striving due to Him; and He has chosen you.'" Ali b. al-Husayn, the compiler of this book, may Allah be pleased with him, mentioned many virtues of Zayd b. Ali apart from al-Ridha, and I wanted to present some of them in light of this narration so that those who examine our book may understand the belief of the Imamiya regarding him. A. Ahmad b. Harun al-Fami reported in the mosque of Kufa in the year 254 AH, Muhammad b. Abdullah b. Ja'far al-Himyari, from his father, from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi al-Khattab, from al-Husayn b. Alwan, from Umar b. Thabit, from Dawud b. Abd al-Jabbar, from Jabir b. Yazid al-Ju'fi, from Abu Ja'far Muhammad b. Ali al-Baqir, from his ancestors, from Ali (as) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said to al-Husayn: "O Husayn, from your loins will come a man called Zayd who will transcend, he and his companions, on the Day of Resurrection, the necks of people, shining and illuminated, entering Paradise without reckoning." B. Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Ruzmah al-Qazwini said: Ahmad b. Isa al-Alawi al-Husayni reported to us, from Abad b. Ya'qub al-Asadi, who narrated from Habib b. Arta'ah, from Muhammad b. Dhakwan, from Amr b. Khalid who said: Zayd b. Ali (as) took hold of his hair and said: "My father Ali b. al-Husayn took hold of his hair and said: I heard my father al-Husayn b. Ali (as) taking hold of his hair, saying: I heard the Commander of the Faithful (as) taking hold of his hair, from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family), taking hold of his hair, saying: 'Whoever harms a hair of mine has harmed me, and whoever harms me has harmed Allah, and whoever harms Allah, Allah curses him with the curses of the heavens and the earth.'" C. Ali b. Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Imran al-Daqqaq, may Allah be pleased with him, reported to us, saying: Ali b. al-Husayn al-Alawi said: Al-Husayn b. Ali al-Nasiri, may Allah sanctify his soul, informed me, saying: Ahmad b. Rashid, from his uncle Abu Ma'mar Said b. Khitham, from his brother Ma'mar, said: I was sitting with al-Sadiq Ja'far b. Muhammad (as) when Zayd b. Ali b. al-Husayn (as) came and took hold of the door's threshold, and al-Sadiq (as) said to him: "O uncle, I seek refuge with Allah that you be the one crucified in the Kunasah." Zayd's mother then said: "By Allah, what drives you to this statement other than envy for my son?" He replied: "I wish it were envy, I wish it were envy, I wish it were envy," three times, and then said: "My father informed me, from my grandfather (as), that there will come from his offspring a man called Zayd who will be killed in Kufa and crucified in the Kunasah. His grave will be exhumed, and the doors of heaven will be opened for his soul, and the inhabitants of the heavens will rejoice with him. His soul will be placed in the body of a green bird that roams in Paradise wherever it wishes." D. Al-Hasan b. Abdullah b. Said al-‘Askari reported to us, saying: Abdul Aziz b. Yahya said, from al-Ash'ath b. Muhammad al-Dhabbi, who narrated from Shu'ayb b. Amr, from his father, from Jabir al-Ju'fi, who said: I entered upon Abu Ja'far Muhammad b. Ali (as) while Zayd was with him (as). Then al-Ma'roof b. Kharbooth al-Makki entered, and Abu Ja'far (as) said: "O Ma'roof, recite to me some of the rare poetry that you have." So he recited to him: "Not in a weak bond; by your life, never has Abu Malik opposed the wise when he has commanded him." "And not with the strongest of defenses at his words; a noble gentleman, sweet in his disposition." "But he is a brilliant lord; and whatever you entrusted to him, he will suffice for you." "When you suffice him, you have achieved compliance." Then Muhammad b. Ali (as) placed his hand on Zayd's shoulders and said: "This is your description, O Abu al-Husayn." E. Ahmad b. al-Husayn al-Qattan reported to us, saying: Al-Hasan b. Ali al-Sukkari reported to us, from Zakariya al-Jawhari, from Ja'far b. Muhammad b. Imarah, from his father, from Amr b. Khalid who said: Abdullah b. Sayyabah said: We set out and we were seven men, and we came to Medina. We entered upon Abu Abdillah (as) who said: "Do you have news of my uncle Zayd?" We said: "He has gone out, or he is on the way." He said: "If news comes to you, inform me." So we stayed for a few days until a messenger from Bassam the trader came with a letter saying: "As for what follows: Zayd went out on Wednesday, the first of Safar, and he stayed until Wednesday and Thursday and was killed on Friday. With him were so-and-so and so-and-so." We entered upon al-Sadiq (as) and handed him the letter, and he read it and cried, then said: "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. I will hold my uncle in high regard with Allah; indeed, he was a good uncle. By Allah, my uncle was a man for our world and our hereafter. By Allah, my uncle is a martyr like the martyrs who were martyred with the Messenger of Allah, Ali, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn; may Allah's blessings be upon them." F. Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid reported to us, saying: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar, from Ahmad b. Abi Abdullah al-Barqi, from his father, from Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. لَمَّا حُمِلَ زَيْدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ إِلَى الْمَأْمُونِ وَقَدْ كَانَ خَرَجَ بِالْبَصْرَةِ وَأَحْرَقَ دُورَ وُلْدِ الْعَبَّاسِ وَهَبَ الْمَأْمُونُ جُرْمَهُ لاخِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَقَالَ لَهُ يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ لَئِنْ خَرَجَ أَخُوكَ وَفَعَلَ مَا فَعَلَ لَقَدْ خَرَجَ قَبْلَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ فَقُتِلَ وَلَوْ لا مَكَانُكَ مِنِّي لَقَتَلْتُهُ فَلَيْسَ مَا أَتَاهُ بِصَغِيرٍ فَقَالَ الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لا تَقِسْ أَخِي زَيْداً إِلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنْ عُلَمَاءِ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ غَضِبَ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَجَاهَدَ أَعْدَاءَهُ حَتَّى قُتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِهِ وَلَقَدْ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي مُوسَى بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَاهُ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ يَقُولُ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ عَمِّي زَيْداً إِنَّهُ دَعَا إِلَى الرِّضَا مِنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَلَوْ ظَفِرَ لَوَفَى بِمَا دَعَا إِلَيْهِ وَقَدِ اسْتَشَارَنِي فِي خُرُوجِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا عَمِّ إِنْ رَضِيتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ الْمَقْتُولَ الْمَصْلُوبَ بِالْكُنَاسَةِ فَشَأْنَكَ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ سَمِعَ وَاعِيَتُهُ فَلَمْ يُجِبْهُ.فَقَالَ الْمَأْمُونُ يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ جَاءَ فِيمَنِ ادَّعَى الإِمَامَةَ بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهَا مَا جَاءَ فَقَالَ الرِّضَا عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ إِنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ لَمْ يَدَّعِ مَا لَيْسَ لَهُ بِحَقٍّ وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ أَتْقَى لِلَّهِ مِنْ ذَاكَ إِنَّهُ قَالَ أَدْعُوكُمْ إِلَى الرِّضَا مِنْ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَإِنَّمَا جَاءَ مَا جَاءَ فِيمَنْ يَدَّعِي أَنَّ اللَّهَ نَصَّ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَدْعُو إِلَى غَيْرِ دِينِ اللَّهِ وَيَضِلُّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَكَانَ زَيْدٌ وَاللَّهِ مِمَّنْ خُوطِبَ بِهَذِهِ الآْيَةِ وَجاهِدُوا فِي اللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهادِهِ هُوَاجْتَباكُمْ.قالَ عَلِىِّ بْنِ الحُسَيْن مُصَنِّفُ هذا الْكِتاب رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ لزيد بْنِ عَلِى فَضائِلِ كَثِيرة عَنْ غَيْرِ الرِّضا أحببت إيراد بَعْضَها عَلَى أَثَرَ هذا الْحَدِيث ليعلم من يَنْظُرُ فِي كِتابنا هذا اعتقاد الإِمامِيَّة فِيهِ.الف - حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ هارُون الفامي فِي مَسْجِد الكُوفَة سِنَةَ أَرْبَعَ وَخَمْسِينَ وَثَلاثِمائَةٍمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللَّه بْنِ جَعْفَر الحِمْيَريُّ، عَن أَبيهِ، عَن مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبي الخَطَّاب، عَن الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ علوان، عَن عمر بْنِ ثابِتٍ، عَن داوُدِ بْنِ عَبْد الجَبَّارِ، عَن جابِر بْنِ يَزِيد الجُعفِيِّ، عَن أَبي جَعْفَر مُحَمَّد بنعلي الباقِر، عَن‏آبائِهِ، عَن عَلِيِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ قالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ لِلْحُسَيْنِ يَا حُسَيْنُ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ صُلْبِكَ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ زَيْدٌ يَتَخَطَّى هُوَوَأَصْحَابُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ رِقَابَ النَّاسِ غُرّاً مُحَجَّلِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ بِلا حِسَابٍ.ب - حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رزمة القزويني قالَ: حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ عِيسَى العَلَوِي الحُسَيْنِيِ‏حَدَّثَنا عباد بْنِ يَعْقُوبِ الأَسَدِي قالَ: حَدَّثَنا حَبِيبٍ بْنِ أرطاة، عَن مُحَمَّدبن ذكوان، عَن عمرو بْنِ خالِد قالَ: حَدَّثَني زَيْدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَآخِذٌ بِشَعْرِهِ قالَ: حَدَّثَني أَبِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَهُوَآخِذٌ بِشَعْرِهِ قالَ: سَمِعتُ أَبِي الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِشَعْرِهِ قالَ: سَمِعتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَهُوَ آخِذٌ بِشَعْـرِهِ، عَن رَسُولِ اللَّهِ‏ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلـِهِ وَهُـوَآخِذٌ بِشَعْرِهِ قَالَ مَنْ آذَى شَعْرَةً مِنِّي فَقَدْ آذَانِي وَمَنْ آذَانِي فَقَدْ آذَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَمَنْ آذَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَعَنَهُ مَلا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَلا الأَرْض.ج - حَدَّثَنا عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِمْران الدَّقَّاق رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا عَلِىِّ بْنِ الحُسَيْن العَلَوِي قالَ: حَدَّثَني الحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِى الناصري قَدَّسَ اللَّهُ رُوحُهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَني أَحْمَدِ بْنِ رَشِيد، عَن عَمِّهِ أَبي معمر سَعِيدُ بْنِ خيثم، عَن أَخِيهِ معمر قالَ كُنْتُ جَالِساً عِنْدَ الصَّادِقِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَجَاءَ زَيْدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَأَخَذَ بِعِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الصَّادِقُ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَا عَمِّ أُعِيذُكَ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ تَكُونَ الْمَصْلُوبَ بِالْكُنَاسَةِ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ أُمُّ زَيْدٍ وَاللَّهِ مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى هَذَا الْقَوْلِ غَيْرُ الْحَسَدِ لابْنِي فَقَالَ يَا لَيْتَهُ حَسَداً يَا لَيْتَهُ حَسَداً يَا لَيْتَهُ حَسَداً ثَلاثاً ثُمَّ قالَ: حَدَّثَني أَبِي، عَن جَدِّي‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ أَنَّهُ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ وُلْدِهِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ زَيْدٌ يُقْتَلُ بِالْكُوفَةِ وَيُصْلَبُ بِالْكُنَاسَةِ يُخْرَجُ مِنْ قَبْرِهِ نَبْشاً تُفَتَّحُ لِرُوحِهِ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ يَتَبَهَّجُ بِهِ أَهْلُ السَّمَاوَاتِ يُجْعَلُ رُوحُهُ فِي حَوْصَلَةِ طَيْرٍ خَضِرٍ [أَخْضَرَ] يَسْرَحُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ.د - حَدَّثَنا الحَسَن بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّه بْنِ سَعِيدُ العسكري قالَ: حَدَّثَنا عَبْد العَزِيز بْنِ يَحْيَى قالالأَشْعَثِ بْنِ مُحَمَّد الضبي قالَ: حَدَّثَني شعيب بْنِ عمروعَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَن جابِر الجُعفِيِّ قالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَعِنْدَهُ زَيْدٌ أَخُوهُ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ مَعْرُوفُ بْنُ خَرَّبُوذَ الْمَكِّيُّ فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَا مَعْرُوفُ أَنْشِدْنِي مِنْ طَرَائِفِ مَا عِنْدَكَ فَأَنْشَدَهُ:بِوَانٍ وَلا بِضَعِيفٍ قُوَاهُ‏لَعَمْرُكَ مَا إِنْ أَبُو مَالِكٍ‏يُعَادِي الْحَكِيمَ إِذَا مَا نَهَاهُ‏وَلا بِأَلَدَّ لَدَى قَوْلِهِ‏كَرِيمُ الطَّبَائِعِ حُلْوٌ نَثَاهُ‏وَلَكِنَّهُ سَيِّدٌ بَارِعٌوَمَهْمَا وَكَلْتَ إِلَيْهِ كَفَاهُ‏إِذَا سُدْتَهُ سُدْتَ مِطْوَاعَةًقَالَ فَوَضَعَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ يَدَهُ عَلَى كَتِفَيْ زَيْدٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ صِفَتُكَ يَا أَبَا الْحُسَيْنِ.هـ - حَدَّثَنا أَحْمَدِ بْنِ الحُسَيْن القَطَّانُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا الحَسَن بْنِ عَلِى السكري قالَ: حَدَّثَنا زَكَرِيَّا الجوهري عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عمارة، عَن أَبيهِ، عَن عمرو بْنِ خالِد قالَ: حَدَّثَني عَبْدِ اللَّه بْنِ سيابة قالَ خَرَجْنَا وَنَحْنُ سَبْعَةُ نَفَرٍ فَأَتَيْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَقَالَ أَعِنْدَكُمْ خَبَرُ عَمِّي زَيْدٍ فَقُلْنَا قَدْ خَرَجَ أَوْ هُوَخَارِجٌ قَالَ فَإِنْ أَتَاكُمْ خَبَرٌ فَأَخْبِرُونِي فَمَكَثْنَا أَيَّاماً فَأَتَى رَسُولُ بَسَّامٍ الصَّيْرَفِيِّ بِكِتَابٍ فِيهِ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ زَيْداً خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الأَرْبِعَاءِ غُرَّةَ صَفَرٍ فَمَكَثَ الأَرْبِعَاءَ وَالْخَمِيسَ وَقُتِلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَقُتِلَ مَعَهُ فُلانٌ وَفُلانٌ فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَى الصَّادِقِ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ وَدَفَعْنَا إِلَيْهِ الْكِتَابَ فَقَرَأَ وَبَكَى ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ راجِعُونَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ أَحْتَسِبُ عَمِّي إِنَّهُ كَانَ نِعْمَ الْعَمُّ إِنَّ عَمِّي كَانَ رَجُلاً لِدُنْيَانَا وَآخِرَتِنَا مَضَى وَاللَّهِ عَمِّي شَهِيداً كَشُهَدَاءَ اسْتُشْهِدُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ وَعَلِيٍّ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ.و - حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحَسَن بْنِ أَحْمَدِ بْنِ الوَلِيد رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قالَ: حَدَّثَنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحَسَن الصَفَّار، عَن أَحْمَدِ بْنِ أَبي عَبْدِ اللَّه البَرْقِي، عَن أَبيهِ، عَن مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الحَسَن بْنِ شمون، عَن عَبْدِ اللَّه سَنان، عَن الفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يسار قالَ انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍ‏ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ صَبِيحَةَ خَرَجَ بِالْكُوفَةِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ يُعِينُنِي مِنْكُمْ عَلَى قِتَالِ أَنْبَاطِ أَهْلِ الشَّامِفَوَالَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّداً بِالْحَقِّ بَشِيراً لا يُعِينُنِي مِنْكُمْ عَلَى قِتَالِهِمْ أَحَدٌ إِلا أَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَأَدْخَلْتُهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.قَالَ فَلَمَّا قُتِلَ اكْتَرَيْتُ رَاحِلَةً وَتَوَجَّهْتُ نَحْوَالْمَدِينَةِ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى الصَّادِقِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلامُ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي لا أَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَتْلِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ فَيَجْزَعَ عَلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا دَخَلْتُ قَالَ لِي يَا فُضَيْلُ مَا فَعَلَ عَمِّي زَيْدٌ قَالَ فَخَنَقَتْنِي الْعَبْرَةُ فَقَالَ لِي قَتَلُوهُ قُلْتُ إِي وَاللَّهِ قَتَلُوهُ قَالَ فَصَلَبُوهُ قُلْتُ إِي وَاللَّهِ صَلَبُوهُ فَأَقْبَلَ يَبْكِي وَدُمُوعُهُ تَنْحَدِرُ عَلَى دِيبَاجَتَيْ خَدِّهِ كَأَنَّهَا الْجُمَانُ ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا فُضَيْلُ شَهِدْتَ مَعَ عَمِّي قِتَالَ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَكَمْ قَتَلْتَ مِنْهُمْ قُلْتُ سِتَّةً قَالَ فَلَعَلَّكَ شَاكٌّ فِي دِمَائِهِمْ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَوْ كُنْتُ شَاكّاً مَا قَتَلْتُهُمْ قَالَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَيَقُولُ أَشْرَكَنِيَ اللَّهُ فِي تِلْكَ الدِّمَاءِ مَضَى وَاللَّهِ زَيْدٌ عَمِّي وَأَصْحَابُهُ شُهَدَاءُ مِثْلُ مَا مَضَى عَلَيْهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَأَصْحَابُهُ.أَخَذنا مِنَ الْحَدِيث مَوْضِع الْحاجَة وَاللَّه تَعالى‏ هُوَالمُوَفَّقٍ.
