When you slaughter a sheep and remove its skin or a certain part of its skin before it dies, it then is not lawful to use it for food.’”

“Friendliness is half of livelihood.”

“Woe to you! Whatever you do, God will put an attire on you. If your deeds are good, it will be a beautiful attire, but if your deeds are ugly, it will be an ugly attire.”

“God who created some men with a healthy body and a good temper will be ashamed of letting them burn in the fire of Hell.”

“Abu al-Hassan, Musa (a.s.), has said, ‘Fortify your belongings by paying zakat.’”

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Beets uproot the vein of leprosy and no other thing is as beneficial as leaves of beets that enter the belly of one suffering from leprosy.’”

"All those who commit major sins (kabaʾir), if the legal punishment (Hadd) is carried out on them twice, they are to be executed on the third offense."

Hadith.1295 - Sa'd ibn Sa'd asked Abu al-Hasan al-Ridha (as) about a man who is with a menstruating woman in a mahmil (covered mount or carrier). He asked: "Should he pray while She is with him?" He (as) replied: "Yes”.

“I once asked abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), about al-Fuqa’ . He (the Imam) said, ‘It is wine exactly.’”

Hadith.835 - Ali ibn Yaqtin asked Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Awwal (as) about a man prostrating on a misḥ (a type of mat or rug) and on a carpet. The Imam said: "There is no issue if it is in a situation of taqiyya (precautionary dissimulation to protect oneself)."

Hadith.1315 - Sama'a ibn Mehran asked Abu al-Hasan the First (as) about the timing of the night prayer during travel. Imam (as) said: "From the time you perform the 'Atamah (Isha, the night prayer) until the break of dawn (Fajr)."

I asked him about the water of the valley. Imam (as) said: "Indeed, Muslims are partners in water, fire, and pasture."

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), was asked about the excellence of the worldly life. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is in spacious house and in the great number of friends.’”

I was given ten [characteristics] by the Messenger of Allah (s). He did not give them to anyone before me nor after me. He said to me: O `Ali! You are my brother in this world and the Hereafter. Among the people, you will be the nearest to me in position on the Day of Resurrection. My house and your house will face one another in Paradise, like two brothers. You are the deputy, and you are the friend [of Allah]. You are the vizier. Your enemies are my enemies, and my enemies are the enemies of Allah. Your friends are my friends, and my friends are the friends of Allah.

I heard Abu Abdullah (as) saying: ‘On the Day of Judgement, a beautiful woman who had done Fitna (mischief) due to her beauty will be brought. So she will say, ‘O Lord! You created me beautiful until I did what I did.‘ So Maryam (as) will come and it will be said to her, ‘Are you more beautiful or her? She had beauty in her but did not do Fitna.’
And a handsome man who had done Fitna due to his beauty will be brought. So he will say, ‘O Lord! You created me with beauty until I did with the women what I did.‘ So Yusuf (as) will come and it will be said, ‘Are you more handsome or he is? He had beauty but did not do Fitna.’
And they will come with the afflicted person who had been involved in Fitna due to his afflictions. So he will say, ‘O Lord! The intensity of the afflictions upon me were such that I did Fitna.’ So Ayyub (as) will come and it will be said, ‘Were your afflictions more severe or his afflictions? He was in afflictions but did not do Fitna.’

One should not shorten his prayers on four occasions due to the Honorable the Exalted God’s Treasure. They are: the Honorable the Exalted God’s Shrine (the Ka’ba); the Shrine of God’s Prophet (MGB); the Shrine of the Commander of the Faithful Imam Ali (MGB), and the Shrine of Al-Hussein ibn Ali (MGB).”The compiler of the book - may God be pleased with him - said, “What is meant here is that one should not shorten his prayers in these holy shrines by the usual practice by intending to stay there for less than ten days for one who travels.”

I have a question for you. If your answer is the same as I already know, I will accept you as my Imam (leader with divine authority).’” Imam abul-Hassan (a.s.) replied, “Ask whatever you wish.” The man said, “Tell me when did your Lord come into existence, how has He been and on what did He depend?” Imam Abul-Hassan (a.s.), replied, “Allah, the Blessed, the Almighty, is the space maker of space, Who Himself is not subject to the effects of any space. He is the maker of How and Himself is not subject to How. He is Self-sufficient with His own power.” The man stood up and kissed the head of the Imam (a.s.) and then said, “I testify that there is no god except Allah and Muhammad (s.a.) is the Messenger of Allah and that Imam Ali (a.s) is the successor of the Messenger of Allah and the Guardian and protector of what the Messenger of Allah has brought from Allah and that your forefathers are the leaders with divine authority and that you are a successor to them.”

Abu Abdillah Ja’far ibn Muhammad (as): "Whoever says in the morning before the sun rises [and in the evening before the sun sets]: 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, without any partners, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger, and that the religion is as He has prescribed, and Islam is as He has described, and the statement is as He has conveyed, and the Book is as He has revealed, and that Allah is the manifest truth,' and mentions Muhammad and the family of Muhammad with good, and sends peace upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, Allah will open for him the eight gates of Paradise, and it will be said to him: Enter from whichever gate you wish, and his sins for that day will be erased."

Whenever Abu al-Hasan [al-Kadhim] عليه‌ السلام wanted some necessities for himself, or something of a personal nature, he would write to my father Ali: ‘purchase for me this and that or acquire for me such and such and let Hisham b. al-Hakam be the one to undertake that’. But if it had to do with his [the Imam’s] more general responsibilities he would just write: ‘purchase for me this and that’ and not mention Hisham unless it was personal. It is mentioned that his care and attention towards him was so great that he sent him fifteen thousand dirhams, saying to him, "Work with it and keep all the profits, but return the principal to us." Hisham, may Allah have mercy on him, did so, and prayers upon Abu al-Hasan.
