27 – Isḥāq b. Muḥammad, al-Baṣrī, Abū Yaʿqūb. Corrupt in madhhab.

14 – Isḥāq b. Muḥammad b. Aḥmad b. Abān b. Marrār, known by the kunya Abū Yaʿqūb, al-Aḥmar. Corrupt in madhhab. Liar in narration. Fabricator of ḥadīths. What he narrates is not regarded, and his ḥadīth are not to be given importance. Al-ʿAyyāshī has an incident with him regarding his fabrication of ḥadīths that is famous.

“I once wrote to abu Muhammad (a.s.), and asked, ‘Why has Allah made fasting obligatory?’ The answer was, ‘It is made obligatory so that affluent people can feel the taste of hunger and become compassionate to the poor.’”

“I heard abu al-Hassan, Musa (a.s.), read the following: ‘O mother, if I may become indebted (consider) that Moses son of ‘Imran would also borrow.’”

Amirul Momineen (a.s) mentioned the Qaim (a.s) and said: “He will go into hiding, so the ignorant will say that Allah does not have any need of Aale Muhammad (a.s).”

“I heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say as herein below. “People will miss their Imam (a.s.). He will attain Hajj and see them but they will not see him.”

Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, said: "Listen and obey those whom Allah has granted the authority - for that is the system of Islam."

I heard Abi Abdullah (a.s) say: “The Imam will be unseen by the people. Then he will witness those who come for Hajj pilgrimage. He will see them, but they will not see him.”

“He wrote to me as herein below. “My son, abu Muhammad instinctively is the most considerate in the family of Muhammad (s.a). He possesses the strongest authoritative supporting evidence above them and he is the eldest of my sons. He is the succeeding Imam and to him go the rings of Imamat (Leadership with Divine Authority) and its rules. Whatever you wanted to ask me ask it from him. With him is whatever he may need.”

“I went to see abu al-Hassan (a.s.) after the death of abu Ja‘far and offered condolences for this reason. Abu Muhammad (a.s.) was also present. He wept and abu al-Hassan (a.s.) turned to him and said, “Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has made you to succeed (the Imam) instead of him. You must thanks Allah.”

The Commander of the Believers, peace be upon him, is the Loft Palace, and the Abandoned Well is Fatima and her sons, who are abandoned from rulership.

If he stands up there is no al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah) for him; however, he lies down on his back and opens his eyes to the sky and keeps in his heart al-Qiblah which is in the heaven, al-Bayt al-Ma‘mur, does the recitation and for Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) closes his eyes. When intending to raise his head from Ruku‘ opens his eyes and for Sujud (prostrations) he does the same.’”

I wrote to Abi Muhammad al-Hasan b. `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib (as): “Why did Allah obligate fasting?” So, he answered in his response: “So that the rich may feel hunger and give to the poor.”

narrated to me Sufyan ibn Muhammad al-Duba‘i who has said the following. “I wrote to abu Muhammad and asked him about the meaning of the word al-Walija (relied) in the words of Allah, the Most High. “Do you think that God will not make any distinction between those of you who have fought for His cause and have relied on no one other than God, His Messenger, and the faithful ones, and other people?. .” (9:16) I said to myself, not in the letter, “To who does the believers refer in this verse “? The answer came as this. The Walija refers to a person who would be appointed in place of the Leader with Divine Authority. You have said to yourself “To who the believers refers in this verse”? They are the Imams who ask Allah to grant security to the people and He grants their request.”

“Abu al-Hassan wrote to me in a letter as herein below. “You wanted to ask about the succeeding Imam after (the death) of abu Ja‘far and you were anxious about it. Do not feel sad; “God does not misguide a nation after having given them guidance until the means of piety are made known to them. . .” (9:115) Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most gracious, does not neglect the people whom He has granted guidance to go astray until He clarifies for them the means with which they can maintain piety. You master (Imam) after me will be, my son, abu Muhammad (a.s.). With there is whatever you would need. Allah allows to precede whatever He wants and Allah allows to succeed whatever He wants. “For whatever sign We change or eliminate or cause to recede into oblivion, We bring forth a better sign, one that is identical.. .” (2:106). I have written enough convincing facts for the people of reason with awareness.”

“Once, al-Fahfakiy asked abu Muhammad (a.s.), ‘Why is it that the destitute and weak woman’s share of the legacy is half as much as the share of man?’ Abu Muhammad (a.s.), said, ‘It is because there is no Jihad on women; maintenance expenses and wergild to be paid by the relatives of the murderer, it is on men.’ I then said to myself that I was told about ibn abu al-‘Awja’s question to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about this issue and he had answered with this answer. Abu Muhammad (a.s.), turned to me and said, ‘Yes, this is the question of ibn abu al-‘Awja’ and the answer from us is one if the meaning of the question is the same. What applies to the last of us applies to the first of us. Our first and last in knowledge are the same, however, the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and Amir al-Mu’minin have their excellence.’”

“I was in the presence of Abu al-Hassan (a.s.) after the death of his son, Abu Ja‘far. I thought to myself wanting to say, “Abu Ja‘far and Abu Muhammad at this time are like Abu al-Hassan Musa and ’Isma‘il, the sons of Ja‘far ibn Muhammad (a.s.), and their stories are similar, since Abu Muhammad was the appointee after Abu Ja'far (AS).” At that moment, Abu al-Hassan turned to me before I could say anything and said, “Yes, O Abu Hashim, Allah applied Bada’ (a change in the current natural conditions) in the case of Abu Muhammad after Abu Ja‘far (AS), a fact that was not known for him (Abu Muhammad). In the same way He applied Bada’ in the case of Musa after the death of ’Isma‘il as an issue that through which his condition came to light. That is what you thought to yourself. Even though people of falsehood may dislike it, Abu Muhammad, my son, will be the successor after me. With him is the knowledge that he will need and with him are the signs of Imamate (Leadership with Divine Authority).”

I previously narrated a report from Imam Hadi (a.s) about his son, Abu Ja’far, which proved his Imamate; but when Abu Ja’far passed away from the world, I was so astonished and bewildered that I did not know what to do and I was in a dilemma and I feared writing to the Imam about it. At last, I wrote a letter to the Imam asking him for supplication to Almighty Allah to save us from the hardships imposed on us from the ruler with regard to our youth. Reply to the letter came with a supplication of the Imam and the difficulty of our youth was also solved. At the end of the letter, the Imam had written: You wanted to ask me about the successor after the death of Abu Ja’far (Muhammad) and you are anxious due to that. Don’t be: “It is not (attributable to) Allah that He should lead a people astray after He has guided them; He even makes clear to them what they should guard against.” (9:115) Your leader after me is Abu Muhammad (Askari), my son. He has everything, which they need. God brings forward whatever He wishes and delays whatever He wishes: Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. (2:106) In this is a clear explanation and convincing proof for one who has a watchful disposition.

This is the hadith of Mutrif: He said: We were sitting in the mosque, and `Abdullah b. Mas`ud was with us. A Bedouin came and said: Is there an `Abdullah among you? He said: Yes, I am `Abdullah. What do you need? He said: O `Abdullah! Has your Prophet (s) informed you of how many caliphs there would be? He said: You have asked me about something that no one has asked me since I came to Iraq. Yes, twelve – the number of chiefs of the Children of Israel. Abu `Uruba said in his hadith: He said: Yes, the number of chiefs of the Children of Israel.

We were sitting in the mosque and Abdullah ibn Masood was sitting there with us. A Bedouin (Arab) came in and asked, ‘Is Abdullah ibn Masood with you?’ Abdullah replied, ‘Yes, I am Abdullah ibn Masood. What do you want?’ The man asked, ‘O Abdullah! Has your Prophet (MGB) advised you as to how many Caliphs there will be after him?’ Abdullah ibn Masood said, ‘Yes. You have asked me a question which no one has ever asked me since I came to Iraq. The Prophet (MGB) has said that there will be twelve Divine Leaders after him - just as many as the chiefs of Israel.’” In another version we read, ‘Yes, as many as the chiefs of Israel.’”
