“A councilor cannot lie (is not supposed to).”

‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Sneezing is a sign of truthfulness.’”

“Luqman (mentioned in Chapter 3 1 of the Holy Quran), peace be upon him, said to his son, ‘Do not become very close (to people), lest you become the farthest from them (frequent involvement may cause friction and disturbance) and do not keep very far in total isolation and oblivion. Every moving thing loves its kind and the sons of Adam love their kind. Do not spread your goods when there is demand. Just as there is no friendship between the wolf and the sheep so also there is no friendship between a virtuous person and an evildoer. Whoever moves close to asphalt and tar, it will smear him out so also is association with an evildoer whose manners may spread to his associates. Whoever likes to dispute will be abused. Whoever enters places of evil activities will be accused (of evil doing). Whoever associates with an evildoer will not remain safe. Whoever does not control his tongue will regret.”’

There was to Hasan bin Ali, peace be upon them both, a friend, and he was an impudent, so he slackened to him for days. He then came to him one day, and Hasan, peace be upon him, said to him: How have you become? He said: O son of Allah’s Messenger, I have become to the contrary of what I like, what Allah likes and what Shaytan likes. Hasan, peace be upon him, smiled and then said: And how is that? He said: Because Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, likes that I obey Him and do not disobey him, and I am not as such. Moreover, Shaytan likes that I disobey Allah and not obey him, and I am not as such. Moreover, I would like to not die, and I am not as such. A man then stood up to him and said: O son of Allah’s Messenger, what is it with us that we dislike death and do not love it? He said: Hasan, peace be upon him, then said: Because you have ruined your (state in the) Hereafter and built this life of yours, while you dislike to be transmitted from that which is built to that which is ruined.

‘‘The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘If a man is speaking about something and someone sneezes, this is evidence of the truth.’”

2. [2/283] Rijal al-Kashshi: Ibrahim b. al-Mukhtar b. Muhammad b. al-Abbas from Ali b. al-Hasan b. Fadhal from his father from Abi Ja’far عليه السلام (who said about the book of Yunus): This is my religion and the religion of my forefathers and it is the whole truth.

“Once Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) said to me, ‘O Fudayl, the truthfulness of a truthful person is first verified by Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy. He knows that he is truthful. Then his own soul confirms; it knows his truthfulness.’”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I go to the market to buy a slave-girl and she says that she is free. He (the Imam) said, ‘You can buy her unless she presents proof of her freedom.’”

“When you would narrate Hadith you must say who its narrator is. If it would be true it will be for you and if it would be false it will be his responsibility.

I said to Abi Abdillah عليه السلام: what is the right of Allāh over his creation? he said: that they should only say that which they know and should remain silent over that which they do not know – so if they were to do that then they have fulfilled the right of Allāh.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Of believers are only those who even on becoming angry do not deviate from the truth and when they become happy it does not take them into falsehood and when in power they do not take more than what is for them.’”

Muhammad b. Abi Bishr narrated to me. He said: Al-Husayn b. Haytham narrated to us from Sulayman b. Dawud al-Minqari. He said: Whenever `Ali b. Ghurab narrated to us from Ja`far b. Muhammad, he would say: The truthful about Allah (al-sadiq `an Allah) Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) narrated to us.

our companions differed about accepting the narrations of Jabir al-Ju`fi, I said to them: I will ask Aba Abdillah عليه السلام, so when I entered upon him, he عليه السلام began saying [without me asking]: may Allah have mercy on Jabir al-Ju`fi – he used, to tell the truth about us, may Allah curse al-Mughira bin Sa`id, he used to lie about us.

“About two men who each had a certain amount of grain in the possession of the other but no one of them knew how much was the amount, and each one of them had said to the other one, ‘You can have whatever amount of grain is with you and I will have the amount which is with me,’ one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ‘There is no offense in such settlement upon which both have mutually agreed/”

if a man from among you is asked about that which he does not know – he should say: “I do not know” and should not say: “Allāh is more knowing”, because that will cast doubt in the heart of the questioner, and if the questioned says: “I do not know” then the questioner should not blame him.

Fair speech increases wealth; increases sustenance; postpones death; creates love among family members; and causes the person to enter Heaven.”

“God’s Prophet (MGB) gave me seven pieces of advice.”The rest of this narration is similar to the one above.

Abu Abdullah (asws) said to Abbaad Bin Kaseer Al-Basry Al-Soufy: ‘Woe be unto you, O Abbaad! You have been deceived yourself by (merely) abstaining from your stomach and your genitals. Allah (azwj) Mighty and Majestic has Said: “[33:70] O you who believe! be careful of (your duty to) Allah and speak the right word [33:71] He will put your deeds into a right state for you”. You must realise that Allah (azwj) will not Accept from you anything until you speak the truth and just word (do not only rely on the meditation but accept the truth, the Wilayah of Amimah (asws))’.

Whoever gives charity in Sha`ban, Allah will nurture it just as one of you nurtures a child; until it becomes the like of [Mount] Uhud on the Day of Resurrection.

`Ali b. Yazid al-Sada’i from Abi Shayba al-Jawhari from Anas b. Malik. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Promise me six things, and I will promise you Paradise: (1) When you speak, do not lie. (2) If you make a promise, do not break it. (3) If you form a trust, then do not betray it. (4) Lower your gaze. (5) Guard your private parts. (6) Withhold your hands and your tongues [from harming others].
