There are two groups in this nation whose improvement would improve the nation and whose corruption would corrupt the nation.” He (MGB) was asked, “O Prophet of God! Who are they?” The Prophet (MGB) replied, “The jurisprudents and the chiefs.”

“I heard Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) saying, ‘A breath with a sigh of concern and sadness due to injustice done to us is Tasbih (speaking of the glory of Allah) and one’s concern about our cause is worship, his concealing our secret is Jihad (hard work for the cause of Allah).”’ “Muhammad ibn Sa’id told me to write it down with gold. I then did not write anything better than that.”

Abu Abdillah Ja’far ibn Muhammad (a.s.) said: "A person who sighs in grief over the wrongs meted out to us, that sigh is extolment of Allah, and his anxiety about us is an act of worship, and to conceal our secrets is a struggle in the way of Allah." Then Abu Abdillah, (a.s.) said: "This tradition ought to be written in gold."

I said to Abu Al-Hassan (asws) that, ‘I have two neighbours, one of them is a Hostile one (Nasibi) and one is a Zaydiite (A sect) and it is necessary to keep relations with them, so whom shall I keep relations with?’ So he (asws) said: ‘They are both the same. The one who belies the Verses from the Book of Allah (azwj), so he has thrown Al-Islam behind his back and he has belied the whole of the Quran, and the Prophets (as), and the Messengers (as)’. Then he (asws) said: ‘This one is hostile to you, and this Zaydiite is hostile to us (asws)’.

“Once I went to see abu al-Hassan (a.s.) and he said to me, ‘Allah, the Most Blessed, the Most High, supports a believer with a spirit from His side who attends him in all times that he performs a good deed and observes piety. The spirit remains absent in all times that he commits sins and transgresses. The spirit vibrates with joy when he does a good deed and turns into a despicable thing and lowly to earth when he commits a sin. O servants of Allah, be committed to benefit from the favors of Allah to correct and reform yourselves; it (commitment) will increase your certainty and you earn fine and valuable things. May Allah grant favors to those who think of doing good and perform it or think of committing something bad, but refrain and desist.’ The Imam then said, ‘We support and strengthen the spirit by means of obeying Allah and working for Him.’”

"One day my father (Ali b. al-Hussein (a.s)) said in the presence of his companions: ‘Which one of you is good enough to hold a burning ember in his hand and extinguish it by squeezing it?’ All the people were silent and stressed out. So I stood up and said: ‘O father! Do you command me to do it?’ So he said: ‘It is not you I meant, but rather, you are from me and I am from you, but it is they that I have intended by it’. He (Abu Ja'far (a.s)) said: ‘And he repeated it thrice, then said: ‘How much is the description (talk) and how little the action. The people of action are few indeed. And we recognize the people of action and the description (talk) both, and this was only a pretense of blindness from us towards you. But, your news reaches us and we write down your impressions’. Then he said: ‘By Allah (azwj)! It is as if the earth has shaken them with the shame from what he had said to the extent that I looked at a man from among them sweating profusely and he was not raising his head from the ground’. So when he saw that (situation) among them, he said: ‘May Allah (azwj) have Mercy on you all, for I have not intended except the good. In the Paradise there are Levels, so the level of the people of action cannot be understood by anyone from the people of the talk. And the Level of the people of the talk cannot be understood by others’. He said: ‘By Allah (azwj), it was as if they had been released from the chains.'"
