معلى بن زيد: الكوفي، من أصحاب الصادق عليه السلام، رجال الشيخ (504). أقول: تقدم عن النجاشي في ترجمة معلى بن خنيس أن راوي كتاب معلى ابن خنيس، هو أبو عثمان معلى بن زيد الأحول، ويأتي عنه في المعلى بن عثمان قول بأنه ابن زيد الأحول، ولكن الظاهر الشيخ أن معلى بن زيد مغاير لمعلى بن عثمان، فإنه ذكر كلا منهما مستقلا، بل ظاهر النجاشي أيضا في كلامه الآتي عدم ارتضائه هذا القول، فإنه قال: معلى بن عثمان أبو عثمان، وقيل ابن زيد، فيظهر منه أن المختار عنده أن معلى هو ابن عثمان، وقد قال قائل بأنه ابن زيد، وبين كلامي النجاشي تهافت ظاهر.
