I heard Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s) say: I and His Eminence, the Qaim will not be from the same father.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘A man must not go to bed with a woman in a Wednesday night.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman if she can use silk clothes in the state of Ihram. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, but she can use them in times other than her being in the state of Ihram.’”

I heard Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s) say: Twelve Imams from Aale Muhammad (a.s) were all Muhaddath and they were from the descendants of the Messenger of Allah (s) and Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.s). Thus the Messenger of Allah (s) and Imam Ali (a.s) are their fathers.

I asked him about a man who derogates to his wife the option to choose – so she chooses herself, will this mean that the divorce is final? he said: No, this (i.e. Takhyir) is a thing which was only for the messenger of Allah specifically, he was ordered to do that so he did it, and if they had chosen themselves then he would have divorced them – and it is the words of Allah Mighty and Majestic “Say to your wives: if you prefer the life of this world and its adornment then come forth so that I provide you a provision and set you free in a goodly manner” (33:28). al-Hasan b. Sama’a said: by this Hadith do we take [rule] in the matter of Khiyar [giving an ultimatum to the wife to decide her future].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited al-Nitaf and al-Arbi‘a’. He said, ‘Al-Arbi‘a’ is constructing, something as a dam, to hold water to water the land, then he stands free of need for such water.’ He said, ‘You must not sell it but allow your neighbor to use it.’ Al-Nitaf is a share that one has in a body of water, then he stands free of need for such a share. And he (the Messenger of Allah) would say, ‘You must not sell it but allow your neighbor to use it or your brother.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that once Zaynab bint Jahash said to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, ‘You are not fair and you are the Prophet.’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘May your hands become soiled, ‘If I am not fair then who is fair?’ She then asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, did you pray that my hands get cut off?’ He (the Messenger of Allah) replied, ‘No, but they become soiled.’ She then said, ‘If you divorce us we will find in our people men as our match who will marry us.’ Revelation stopped coming for twenty-nine nights.’ Abu Ja‘far, Alayhi al-Salam, then said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, disdained and rejected her words and sent revelation that said, ‘O Prophet, say to your wives, “If you want the worldly life and its beauty . . .” to the end of the two verses. They chose Allah and His Messenger then further things did not happen. Had they chosen themselves they would have become stranger to him (the Messenger of Allah).”’ (‘Your hands become soiled’ may mean poverty and it may also mean wealth)
