“The inevitable things that must occur before the appearance of al-Qa’im are the rising of as-Sufyani, the sinking of the desert, killing the pure innocent man and the call that will come from the Heaven.”

"When the believing people meet and shake hands Allah inserts His hand between their hands and shakes hands with the one whose love for his brother (in belief) is more intense.’”

For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men. He has killed but one? Imam (a.s.) replied, “He will be kept in a place in Hell where there will be severe chastisement and if he kills everyone, too he will be kept in this place.” The narrator asked, “What is the punishment if he murders again?” He replied, “His punishment is doubled.”

I said to Abu Abdillah (as): "A man who sometimes understands his own position and at other times denies it, can his guardian (wali) issue a divorce on his behalf?" Imam (as) said: "What is wrong with him? Can he not divorce himself?" I said: "He does not understand the rules of divorce, and if he divorces today, he might say tomorrow that he did not divorce." Imam (as) said: "I see him (wali) as being in the position of an Imam - that is, the guardian (wali) has authority over him."

“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘Can I ask you a question, may Allah keep you well?’ He said, ‘Yes you may do so.’ I said, ‘I was in a particular condition and today I am in another condition. I would go in the land to invite one or two men and women (to our belief) and Allah would save whomever He wanted. Today I do not invite anyone.’ The Imam said, ‘It is no offense to you to leave people to their Lord. Whomever Allah wants to guide and take out of darkness to light He does so.’ The Imam then said, ‘It is not an offense to you if you sense good in someone to introduce an issue.’ 1 then said, ‘Tell me about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, ‘. . . to save a life is as great a virtue as to save all of mankind. . . .’ (5:32) The Imam said, ‘It refers to burning or drowning someone. He then remained quiet and then said, ‘Its greatest case in point, is that one is invited (to the truth), and he accepts it.’”

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘Tasbih of Fatimah al-Zahra’, ‘Alayha al-Salam, every day after every Salah (prayer) is more beloved to me than one thousand Rak‘at prayer every day.’”

I said to Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him. The saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «Due to that, We prescribed upon the sons of Isra’eel that whoever kills a life without (retaliation for) another life, or due to (the causing of) corruption on earth, it is as if he has killed all people» (5:32) whereas one only kills one? He said: He will placed in a spot of Hell to which ends the utmost severity of the torment of its people if one was to kill all people. He will then only enter that place. If he had killed one, he would only enter that place. I said: And if he kills another? He said: It shall be doubled upon him.

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the words of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, ‘One who enters it is safe.’ (3:97) He (the Imam) said, ‘You have asked me about something about which no one has asked except those whom Allah wanted to ask. Whoever decides to visit this House and knows that this is the House, Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, has commanded to visit and knows and acknowledges the rights of Ahl al-Bayt properly, he is safe in this life and in the next life.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘If one is able to feed ten destitute people for expiation of an oath he cannot fast instead. He must feed ten destitute people, one mud (a certain measurement) to each one, and if one cannot do this, then he must fast for three days.’”

“God created us from the noblest matter and created the hearts of our followers from the same, and created their bodies from something that is of a slightly lower rank. Thus their hearts were attracted and inclined to us. God created our enemies from the smoke of Hell, and created their followers from the same, and then their hearts were attracted and inclined to our enemies.”

I asked Abu Ja’far, peace be upon him, about the apparent of the Qur’an and its inside. He said: Its apparent applies to those for whose sake the (scattered verses of the) Qur’an was revealed, and its inside applies to those who act by the same deeds of theirs; it continues in them what was revealed for the sake of those (of the apparent sense).

“I asked Abū ʿAbdillāh (a) [and in another version: Abū Jaʿfar (a)], ‘When Allah admits the people of Paradise into Paradise and [throws] the people of Hell into Hell, then what [happens next]?’ So Abū Jaʿfar (a) said, ‘If Allah wishes to create another creation and make a world for them to return to, He will do so – and I am not saying to you that this is what He will [surely] do.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘Women are given desires of twelve parts and patience of twelve parts.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who sometime understands and sometimes does not understand: if his divorce by his guardian is permissible. He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is the matter with him, why does he not divorce?’ I replied, ‘He does not know the rules of divorce and does not feel safe. Perhaps tomorrow he will say that he did not divorce.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I do not see him (guardian) except like an Imam (in his case).”’

The Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, addressed the people at Mina, saying: "May Allah bless the servant who heard my utterances and heeded them; and conveyed to those who had not heard them. How often a person carries knowledge without he himself being learned about it, and how often does a man carry knowledge to the one who knows better than him! There are three things over which a Mu’min’s heart will never commit a breach of the trust: Purifying the deeds solely for the sake of Allah; following the Imams of the Muslims faithfully and remaining steadfast in their groups. Their call itself protects them from all sides. The believers are brothers to each other, defending their blood; and they act as one, single hand against the enemies. And even the smallest of them tries best to fulfil his responsibility."

“About the case of a man suffering from a mental condition, abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘His guardian divorces for him because I see him like the Imam (for him).”’

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who involves himself in sexual intercourse with his wife on the day of al-Nahr (day of offering sacrifice) before performing Tawaf of Ziyarat. He (the Imam) said, ‘If he has done so with lust he owes a badanah, without it there is a cow.’ I said, ‘Or a sheep’ and he (the Imam) said, ‘Or a sheep.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Regret for forgiving is better and easier than regret for being subjected to punishment.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who has a mental condition and his reason is gone; if divorce by his guardian is permissible. He (the Imam) said, ‘Why does he not divorce?’ I replied, ‘He does not feel safe because tomorrow he may say that he did not divorce or he does not know how to do it.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I do not see his guardian except like a sultan (king, authority).”’

"God - Blessed and Exalted - made lust in ten allotted parts, nine of which he placed in women and one of which he placed in men. Were it not for what God - Mighty and Exalted - placed of the allotment of chastity in them, in proportion to their allotment of lust, every man would have had nine women attached to him."
