“About the case of a woman who dies and leaves behind her husband, abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘One-fourth belongs to the woman and the rest belongs to the Imam.’”

folio wing: “Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘How can one of you hurt the woman whom he continues to embrace? 5 ”

"One should not have sex with a female servant until she reaches nine years of age or ten years of age."

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Divorce of a pregnant woman is one and when she gives birth to what is inside her, she becomes stranger to him.’”

“About the case of a man who marries a woman without assigning any mahr (dower) and goes to bed with her, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘She has a mahr (dower) similar to that for the women of her family.’”

“Once he (the Imam) (a.s.), was asked about the decorated sword and sword of iron which was gilded and was sold for dirhams. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, and it can be sold for gold also.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is Makruh (detestable) to sell it on credit.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If the price is more than silver, it is not unlawful.’”

foiiowing: “I once said to abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I want to marry with a woman but my father wants another one. He (the Imam) said, ‘Marry the one you love, not the one your parents love.”’

“About the case of a man who marries a woman and finds Qarn or al- ‘Afal (growth of a substance in her vagina that prevents sexual intercourse) with her or whiteness or leprosy, he (the Imam) (a.s.), has said that he can revoke the marriage if he has not gone to bed with her.’”

He meets her and says, “I am interested in you, I respect women, so you must not decide about yourself (to marry someone else) before me.” In “secret” dating he does not meet her as he had promised.’”

“Once, abu Ja’far (a.s.), was asked about the case of a man whose mother arranged marriage for him in his absence. He (the Imam) said, ‘Marriage is permissible, the husband may agree or disagree; and if he disagrees payment of mahr (dower) becomes due on his mother.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘The girl who is with her parents cannot appoint someone (to solemnize her marriage) when her father wants to give her in marriage; he is more careful than her. A woman for her second marriage must be asked for her permission if she lives with her parents and they want to give her in marriage.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who had a certain amount of assets for Mudarabah (profit sharing) with him but made very little profit; and was afraid of the other party’s taking away the capital, so he paid him more than the amount stipulated, so that he would not take the capital away. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), once read for me (from the book) on the issue of ordained shares of inheritance the following: ‘A woman dies and leaves behind her husband,’ he (the Imam) said, ‘The entire legacy belongs to him. If a man dies and leaves behind his wife, he (the Imam) said that one- fourth belongs to her and the rest belongs to the Imam.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about giving in marriage to one hostile to ‘A’immah. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, by Allah, it is not lawful.’ I (Fudayl) then asked him (the Imam) again saying, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, what do you say about their marriage?’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Is the woman knowledgeable?’ I replied, ‘Yes, she is knowledgeable.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Knowledgeable lives only with knowledgeable.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a grandfather gives his granddaughter in marriage and his son is living but grandfather is ill, still marriage is binding.’ We then asked, ‘What happens if the father loves one and grandfather loves another man and they both are equal in justice and agreement?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I love if she agrees with her grandfather.’”

“I heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), say, ‘If one dies without performing al-Hajj when in good health and wealthy, he is one of those about whom Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, has said, ‘We will, on the Day of Judgment, raise him blind.’ (20:124) I (the narrator) then said, ‘Allah is free of all defects. Will he be raised blind?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, blind he will be raised. Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, has turned him blind toward the true path.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, performed ‘Umrah of al-Hudaybiyah and Qada’ of al-Hudaybiyah next time, and from al-Ja‘ranah when coming from al-Ta’if. All three ‘Umrah took place in the month of Dhu al-Qa’dah.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), once from the pulpit said: ‘Do not give in marriage to al-Hassan because he is a man who divorces very often.’ A man from Hamadan stood up and said, ‘Yes, we will give to him in marriage, by Allah, because he is the grandson of the Messenger of Allah (s.w) and the son of ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.). He may keep if he likes or divorce if he so wills.’”

foiiowing: “About the case of a dispute between the parties if one says that the amount of al-Rahn (security deposit) is one thousand dirham and the other says that it is one hundred dirham, abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The one who claims it to be one thousand dirham is asked to present proof and testimony. If he fails to do so, then the other party is asked to take an oath.’ If the amount of al- Rahn (security deposit) is more or less but one party claims it to be al-Rahn (security deposit) and the party claims it to be Wadi‘ah (safe deposit), abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The party who claims it to be Wadi ‘ah (safe deposit) is asked to present proof and testimony and upon his failure the other party is then asked to take an oath (to settle the dispute).’”

When a woman divorced in the manner of al-Khul‘ it must be followed by divorce as long as she is in waiting period.’”
