“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘From where the pebbles must be taken?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You must not take them from two places, from non-al-Haram (the sacred area) and from the pebble of al-Jamar. It is not harmful to take them from other parts of al-Haram (the sacred area).”’

“Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.) has said, ‘Allah has appointed me the Imam for His creation, Therefore, He made it obligatory for me to discipline myself in the matters of food, drinks and clothes to the level of the very weak ones of the people so that the poor follow my poverty and the rich would not become rebellious because of his riches.’”

“Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) has said. “Seek knowledge and beautify it with forbearance and dignity. Be humble to your students and to those from whom you learn. Do not be a tyrant scholar lest your falsehood would destroy the truth in you.”

‘Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a believing person maintains good relations with his brother in belief, he is considered as maintaining such relations with the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause.’”

“Abu al-Hassan Musa (a.s.) has said, ‘You must pray and plead before Allah for help; pleading before Allah for help and requesting from Him repels misfortunes even though they may have already been measured and determined, Qudiya and Quddira, and are set to take place free of all obstacles except final approval, al-’Imda’. When Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, is called for help and is requested to remove a misfortune. He diverts it without fail.’”

abu al-Walid, Hassan ibn Ziyad al-Sayqal has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Making one’s tongue speak the truth purifies one’s deeds. Having good intentions increases one’s livelihood. One who betters his kind deeds toward his family is granted longevity in his life.’”

“I asked abu Ja’far (a.s.) ‘(I request you to) teach me a Hadith that can benefit me.’ The Imam said, ‘O abu ‘Ubaydah, speak of death very often. No one speaks of death very often but that it reduces his interest in worldly matters.’”

“Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘The family of so and so helps each other and maintains good relations.’ The Imam said, ‘Their wealth will increase and their persons will increase. They will remain as such as long as they will not neglect their good relations, if they neglect then they will lose.’”

I asked abu al-Hassan al-Rida (a.s.) about the saying of Allah, the Most Majestic and Most Exalted: “We have chosen heirs for every legacy that parents and relatives may leave. Let those who have been promised a bequest receive their share of the legacy. . .”" (4:33) He (a.s) said: It is a reference to the Imams (peace be upon them). Through them, Allah, the Most Majestic and Most Exalted, has established your covenants.”

the Imams (a.s.), “Can it continue in a brother?” He replied, “No, it can not happen.” I then asked, “With who then it can continues?” He replied, “It will continue with my children.” In those days he hadd no children.”

"I would like to warn you about two forms of behavior that lead a man to destruction. I prohibit you from dealing with Allah on the basis of falsehood and from giving fatwa to people without knowledge.”

“One of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ’Allah has made Ruku‘ (bowing down on one’s knees) and Sujud (prostrations) obligatory. Recitation is Sunnah. Whoever omits recitation willfully performs Salah (prayer) again. Whoever forgets recitation his Salah (prayer) is complete and he is not obligated for anything in this matter.’”

I heard al-Ridha عليه السلام saying about Ibn Abi Hamza: isn’t he the one who narrates that … and he [Ibn Abi Hamza] also said: Aba Ibrahim [al-Kadhim] عليه السلام will return within eight months! has his lies not become apparent to you!?

Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: The clay of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) can be collected from up to (a radius of) seventy fathoms by seventy fathoms from the grave.

al-Kumayt b. Zayd entered in to see Abi Ja’far عليه السلام while I was with him. He [Kumayt] proceeded to recite the poetry which begins ‘Who will be [a help] for [my] ensnared and infatuated heart [madly in love] …’ so when he had completed it – he [the Imam] said to Kumayt: You will not stop being aided by the Holy Spirit so long as you speak [compose] about us.

“Abu Ja‘far, or abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘This is ‘Muhammad’ (the Messenger of Allah) who has given them permission to name themselves with his name. However, who has given them permission to name themselves ‘Yasin’ which is the name of the Holy Prophet, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause )?’”

Abu Ja’far عليه السلام said: O Ziyad – beware of argumentation because it creates doubt, nullifies deeds and degrades its initiator, it may also happen that a man speaks something for which he is never forgiven …

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the cost of turtledove, al-Dubsiy, (a certain bird), quail, sparrow and nightingale. He (the Imam) said, ‘He owes the cost. If he, however, has killed it in the state of Ihram in al-Haram (the sacred area), he owes double of the cost, but there is no offering of animal life.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘You must eat celery because it is the food of Elias, al-Yasa‘ and Usha‘ ibn Nun (names of Israelite prophets).”’

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘The amount of mahr (dower) the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, paid to his wives was twelve Awqiyah and one Nashsha. Al-Awqiyah is equal to forty dirham and one al-Nashsha is equal to one-half of al-Awqiyah which is twenty dirham.’”
