عبادة بن الصامت: من أصحاب رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله)، رجال الشيخ (24). هو من النقباء الاثني عشر على ما تقدم في أسعد بن زرارة، ومن السابقين الذين رجعوا إلى أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام)، على ما تقدم في البراء بن مالك، ومن الذين مضوا على منهاج نبيهم ولم يغيروا ولم يبدلوا، على ما تقدم في جندب بن جنادة. أقول: تقدم أن سعد بن عبادة أيضا من النقباء الاثني عشر، ولكنه ليس بابن عبادة بن الصامت هذا، بل هو ابن عبادة بن دليم بن حارثة، وعبادة بن الصامت هذا جده قيس بن أصرم، على ما في أسد الغابة وتقريب التهذيب وغيرهما.
