“About the case of a man who marries a woman for a mahr (dower) payable immediately and a part of it on credit, abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The due date for payment of what is on credit of mahr (dower) is on their separation or death.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful to sleep between the two of your slave-girls or free wives; your women are like dolls.’”

“Abu al-Hassan al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘If one hurts a bird in al-Haram (the sacred area) when one is not in the state of ’Ihram, he owes its price. This price is one dirham with which he buys feed for the pigeons of al-Haram (the sacred area).”’

“I once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about the case of my buying a slave-girl who was born out of wedlock and she was involved with me in everything. He (the Imam) said, ‘Ask her mother who her father is; then ask the one involved with her mother to make it lawful for you so that the child will be born fine.’” (According to the footnote it may not work properly).”’

“One of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has stated this Hadith. ‘The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “O young people, you may have carnal relations. If you are unable to do so, you should fast; it has a castrating effect (on carnal desires).””’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, ‘You must become married because the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “Whoever wants to follow my Sunnah, must take notice that of my Sunnah is marriage.’””

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The Messenger of Allah married ‘Umm Salamah and she was given in marriage to him (the Messenger of Allah) by ‘Umar ibn abu Salmah who was small and was not mature yet.’”

Do not consummate (the marriage with your) female slave until she reaches the age of nine or ten.” He added, “I either heard nine or ten.”

I heard Safwan ibn Yahya who has said the following: “I once said to al-Rida’ (a.s.), that one of his followers has asked me to ask you a question in which he feels shy and intimidated. He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is the question?’ I asked, ‘Can a man come to his wife in her anus?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is up to him.’ I then asked, ‘Do you do so?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, we do not do so.’”

“I once said to abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), that my son and the daughter of my brother are in my care and I want to arrange marriage between them but certain ones of my family has said that she has breastfed both of them. He (the Imam) asked, ’How much breastfeeding has taken place?’ I replied, ’I do not know.’ He (the Imam) said, ’Inform me so then I determine.’ He (the narrator) has said, that I then said, ’I do not know.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You can arrange marriage between them.’”

“I once asked one of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about the case of a man who had committed sinful acts with a woman if he could marry her breastfeeding mother or daughter. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, he cannot do so.’ Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from al-‘Ala’ ibn Razin from Muhammad ibn Muslim a similar Hadith.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The weight of dirham in those days was six.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who has a slave-girl with whom he goes to bed seeking to have a child, but does not become fortunate to have a child and gives her to his brother as a gift or sells her and she gives birth to several children; if his children from a woman other than her can marry the children of his brother from her. He (the Imam) asked me to say it again. I said it again and he (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, it is not unlawful.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Touching women is falling upon them (going to bed with them).”’

“One of the two Imam, (abu Ja’far or abu ‘ Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said, ’Waiting period is because of water (seed, semen)/”

In the case of a virgin, her remaining quiet is her permission, and a woman for her second marriage has her own command and power of decision making."

“About the case of a woman whose husband has died, one of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said that her maintenance must be paid from her husband’s assets.’”

“Abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is of the good fortune of a man whose daughter does not experience Hayd (menses) in his home.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the case of a man who kisses the vagina of a woman. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Three things were given to the Prophets. They are perfumes, marriage and toothbrushes.’”
