He assigned him as banner, that the Party of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He, might be known with it during the schism.

“Every animal walking on this earth, fishes of oceans and every small and big thing in the earth and the heaven repents for a good teacher.”

I hear Aba Ja’far [al-Jawad] (a.s.) say when Abu al-Khattab was mentioned in his presence: May Allah curse Aba al-Khattab, curse his companions, curse those who question his cursing, and curse those who abstain from doing it [cursing him] doubting its propriety. Then he said: Here are Abu al-Ghamr, Ja’far b. Waqid and Hashim b. Abi Hashim! They have used us [our name] to take wealth from the people and have become callers calling the people to what Abu al-Khattab used to call to! May Allah curse him [Abu al-Khattab] and curse them with him, may He curse whoever accepts that from them. O Ali – do not feel any discomfort in cursing them – may Allah curse them – for they have been cursed by Allah. Then he said: the Messenger of Allah (s.w) said: Whoever refrains from cursing the one who is cursed by Allah [considering it a sin] then upon him be the curse of Allah.

“We ate with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.). There was meat of camel (or sheep) and I thought it was from his house. We ate, and then bowls of milk were brought. He (the Imam) drank from it and said to me, ‘O abu Muhammad drink.’ I tasted it and asked, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, is it milk?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is al- Fitrah (nature, seed).’ Then dates were brought and we ate.’”

He wills, He intends, He dislikes, and He is displeased. He wills that nothing should exist without His Knowledge, and He intends similar to that. He dislikes it to be said of Him that `He is the third of the three,’ and He is displeased with His Servant’s’ disbelief.

The heavens never wept over anyone after the killing of Yaḥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ḥusain (a.s.) was killed. And when he was killed, the heavens wept over him (also).”

Whoever engages in buying and selling should avoid the following five things. He should not do any business if he cannot do so. They are as follows: usury; swearing to something or someone; covering up the defects of his goods; praising the goods while selling them, and finding faults with goods while buying them.”

I asked Al-Ridha (s) about the number of times the opening to the call to prayer (Allahu Akbar) must be said. He (s) replied, “It is seven times.” I said, “It has been narrated that God’s Prophet (s) said only one.” The Imam (s) replied, “God’s Prophet (s) said it loudly once and said it quietly the other six times.”

Our followers can be divided into three groups. There are those who are our true friends. They are from us. There are those to whom we lend beauty, and lend beauty to us. And there are those who attach themselves to us to attain worldly gains. Whoever tries to attain worldly gains by attaching himself to us will get poor.”

Whoever has four characteristics shall be protected by God and taken to Paradise: being good-tempered so as to live amongst the people; sympathizing with the ones who have suffered from calamities; being kind to their parents; and treating servants kindly.”

“My nation should always do the following four:1- They should love those who repent.2- They should be sympathetic with the weak.3- They should help the good-doers.4- They should pray for all the people.”

“God’s Prophet (MGB) ordered us to bury the following four things: hair, teeth, nails and blood.”

There are two things which I do not wish to share with anyone. The first one is my ablutions that are a part of my prayer, and the second one is my charity which I personally like to put in the hands of the needy, since it will be placed in the Hands of the Merciful.”

All the Prophets which the Honorable the Exalted God sent, forbade wine and confessed that God would do whatever He wills. The Prophets (s) would leave behind ‘al-Kondor (chewing gum) as inheritance.” Al-Salt also narrated that he had heard Al-Ridha (s) say, “Do not go into a dark house at night, unless you carry a lamp with you.”

Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Surely, when the believer has a nightmare, he is forgiven of his sins. When his body becomes ill, his sins are forgiven.

I heard Aba’l Hasan `Ali b. Musa al-Rida (as) say: Whoever says “I seek the forgiveness of Allah and I ask him to pardon me (istaghfirallah wa as’alahul tawba)” seventy times a day in Sha`ban, Allah will record a dissociation for him from the Fire, a permit upon the Path; and He will grant him the Resolute Abode.

A share is one of eight, due to the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «The charities are only for the poor, the needy, those who work upon (acquiring) them, those with affectionate hearts, the necks (of human beings in captivity to be liberated), those in debt, for the sake of Allah and for the stranded traveler.» (9:60)

“Those who made fun of God’s Prophet (MGB) were five: They were al-Walid ibn Muqayrih al-Makhzoomi, al-As ibn Va’el al-Sahmi, Al-Aswad ibn Abdeh Yaqouth al-Zohri, Aswad ibn Abdul Mutalib and al-Tala’talat al-Saqafy.”

“Five people should not be given alms as follows: one’s offspring; one’s parents; one’s wife and one’s servant, since one must pay for their expenses anyways.”

What would cause committing sins in the presence of the Blessed the Sublime God is liking 6 things: liking this world, liking leadership, liking food, liking women, liking to sleep, and liking comfort.”
