محمد بن علي النيسابوري: قال ابن شهرآشوب: اجتمعت العصابة الشيعة بنيسابور، واختاروه فدفعوا إليه ثلاثين ألف دينار وخمسين ألف درهم، وألفي شقة من الثياب، وأرسلوه ليفحص عن الامام بعد الصادق عليه السلام، فيدفع إليه المال، فدخل على الأفطح عبد الله بن جعفر، وجربه وخرج عنه قائلا: رب اهدني إلى سواء الصراط، قال: فبينما أنا واقف، إذا أنا بغلام يقول: أجب من تريد، فأتى بي دار موسى بن جعفر عليه السلام، الحديث. المناقب: الجزء 4، باب إمامة أبي الحسن موسى بن جعفر، (فصل في إخباره بالمغيبات).
