قيس بن الأشعث: ابن سوار، من أصحاب الحسن عليه السلام، ذكره ابن شهرآشوب في المناقب: الجزء 4، باب إمامة أبي محمد الحسن بن علي عليه السلام، في (فصل في المفردات). ولعله غير قيس بن الأشعث الذي كان من محاربي أبي عبد الله الحسين عليه السلام، وخاطبه الحسين عليه السلام في ضمن من خاطبهم، وقال: ألم تكتبوا إلي أن قد أينعت الثمار واخضر الجناب وإنما تقدم على جند لك مجندة، فقال له قيس بن الأشعث: ما ندري ما تقول ولكن انزل على حكم بني عمك. (الحديث). ذكره المفيد في الارشاد: في وقايع يوم عاشوراء.
