he heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say the following: “What is wrong with you? Why do you disappoint the Messenger of Allah (sw)?” A man asked, “How do we disappoint him?” He (a.s.) replied, “Do you not know that your deeds are presented before him? When he find sins in them it disappoints him. So do not disappoint the Messenger of Allah, rather make him happy.”

“I once asked Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), ‘How is it that women during their experiencing Hayd (menses) can pick up things from Masjid, but cannot leave anything therein?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is because such women can leave what is in their hands in other places and cannot take what is there (in the Masjid) except from it (Masjid).”’ (The above Hadith is best explained in the form of fatwa.)

“I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about the shawl made by Zoroastrians if I can perform Salah (prayer) with it. He (the Imam) asked, ‘Can it be washed with water?’ I replied, ‘Yes, it can be washed.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not an offense to perform Salah (prayer) with it.’ I then asked about cloths made by the weavers if I can perform Salah (prayer) with it. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, you can do so.’”

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about selling the sword decorated with cash (gold or silver). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful.’ I then asked about selling on credit. He (the Imam) said, ‘If what is sold for cash is like what it is for its silver, then is not unlawful; or give foodstuff.’”

“Abū ʿAbdillāh (a) said, ‘Whenever you mingle with people, if it is possible for you to ensure that you always have the upper hand[1] over the one you mingle with, then do so. Verily the servant may have some shortcomings in his worship, yet he has a good character so Allah elevates him thereby to the level of one who fasts [and worships often].’”

“I heard Abā ʿAbdillāh (a) saying to a man, ‘Why is it that you hurt the Messenger of Allah (ṣ)?’ So the man said to him, ‘May I be your ransom! How do we hurt him?’ He said, ‘Do you not know that your actions are presented to him? So when he sees that they contain [acts of] disobedience to Allah, that hurts him. Do not hurt the Messenger of Allah (ṣ) and please him [instead (by your good deeds)].’”

“He (the Imam) has said, ‘If you take a Ghusl (bath) after dawn, it is sufficient for Ghusl (bath) because of sexual relations, for Friday, the day of ‘Arafah, (ninth of Dhul Hajjah), tenth of Dhul Hajjah, for shaving (during Hajj), offering sacrifice and visiting the House (al-Ka‘bah). One Ghusl (bath) suffices many reasons for it.’ He (the narrator) has said that he (the Imam) then said, ‘So also is the case with women. One Ghusl (bath) suffices for sexual relation, assuming the state of ‘Ihram, Friday, Hayd (menses) and for her ‘Id.’”

During al-‘Umrah of al-Hudaybiyah, wild animals crowded around the Messenger of Allah, so much so that their hands and spears could easily reach.”

He must leave the cost of the offering animal with someone in Makkah. He must instruct him to buy an offering animal and slaughter it for him. This is sufficient. If it did not happen in Dhu al-Hajjah, he can delay it until next Dhu al-Hajjah in future.’”

“I asked Aba Abdullah as-Sadiq (MGB), ‘Why do you always fast on Wednesdays?’ The Imam (MGB) replied, ‘Since the Fire (of Hell) was created on a Wednesday.’”

Poverty from dinars and dirhams? He said: No, however, from religion.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘The heirs must keep the assets of one who is lost for the duration of four years’ searching. If he is not found, his assets are distributed among the heirs. If he has children, the assets must be withheld and the expenses of his children must be provided during the four years?”

Abdullah will kill Muhammad.’ I asked, ‘Will Abdullah ibn Harun kill Muhammad ibn Harun?’ Ar-Ridha’ (a.s.) said, ‘Yes. Now Abdullah who is in Khorasan will kill Muhammad ibn Zobayda who is in Baghdad.’ In fact, Al-Ma’mun killed Al-Amin.”

unbelievers may create mischief for you,’ (4:101), abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Two Rak‘at becomes one Rak‘at.’”

“The top most matter (in religion) the most noble, the key issue, the gateway to all affairs and the pleasure of the Most Beneficent , the Most Holy, the Most High, is obedience to the Imam after finding out who the Imam is.” The Imam (a.s.) then said, “Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has said, ‘One who obeys the Messenger has certainly obeyed God. You have not been sent to watch over those who turn away from you (4:80)’”

Do not consummate (the marriage with your) female slave until she reaches the age of nine or ten.” He added, “I either heard nine or ten.”

If two just witness testify to prove it, she does not need to complete any ‘Iddah (waiting period), otherwise, she must commence her ‘Iddah (waiting period) from the day she is informed.’”

“Once al-Rida (a.s.) said to me, ‘Woe upon you, O ibn ‘Arafah, you must work without showing off and publicity; those who work for anyone other than Allah, He assigns him to whomever he has worked. Woe upon you, whatever one does, Allah returns it back, good (result) if it is good and evil (results) if it is bad.’”

Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘O Sudeyr! Be seated in your houses and remain calm, and stay like that overnight, and when the day arrives, and Al-Sufyani has come out, so get out to come to us (asws) even if you have to walk on your feet’.

I heard him say: Ali, peace be upon him, said with regards to the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «and mention the Name of Allah in known days» (22:28). He said: The days of the ten.
