عون بن عبد الله: ابن جعفر بن أبي طالب، قتل معه (الحسين) عليه السلام، من أصحاب الحسين عليه السلام، رجال الشيخ (8). وعده الشيخ المفيد في من قتل مع الحسين في الطف من أهل بيته. الارشاد: فصل في أسماء من قتل مع الحسين عليه السلام من أهل بيته. وهو عون الأكبر بن عبد الله، الذي عده ابن شهرآشوب من المقتولين في الطف من ولد جعفر. المناقب: الجزء 4، باب إمامة أبي عبد الله الحسين، فصل (في مقتله)، ووقع التسليم عليه في زيارتي الناحية المقدسة والرجبية.
