علي بن محمود العاملي: قال الشيخ الحر في أمل الآمل (142): " الشيخ علي بن محمود العاملي المشغري خال والد المصنف: كان عالما، فاضلا، فقيها، صالحا، له رسالة سماها رسالة الانكار في مسألة الدار، ورسالة في القصر، ورسالة في الدراية، ورسالة في العروض، ورسالة في المنطق، وغير ذلك. قرأت عنده عدة كتب في العربية والفقه وغيرهما، وأجاز لي إجازة عامة، قرأ على الشيخ محمد بن الحسن بن زين الدين العاملي، وعلى الشيخ محمد بن علي العاملي التبنيني، وعلى الشيخ محمد بن علي الحرفوشي العاملي، وعلى الأمير فيض الله التفرشي في النجف وغيرهم ".
