“The Messenger of Allah would not leave a gathering - even a small one until - he would plea for protection (forgiveness) from Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, twenty-five times.”

“Al-Rida’ (a.s.), has stated this Hadith. ‘You should feed male frankincense to your pregnant women; if the child in her womb is a male he will grow up of intelligent heart, learned and brave; and if the child is female she will grow up of good moral behavior (beautiful) and of large posterior which will be favorable to her husband.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a cesspool which is above a well. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is above the well, the distance in between must be seven yards, but if it is below the well, the distance must be five yards from all sides, and that is a large area.”

A man heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) say: Establish your prayers in full form in Masjid Al-Ḥarām, in the Mosque of the Messenger (s.a.a.w.), in the Mosque of Kūfah, and in the Ḥaram of Ḥusain (a.s.).

“If there are no people on the earth except two men, one of them must be al-Hujjah (Imam al-Mahdi).”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I am thinking to quit doing business in market place while there is a certain amount of wealth in my hands.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Then your opinion becomes of no value and no one will seek help from you.’”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), Allah has commanded me in His book and I love to obey that command. He (the Imam) asked, ‘What is that commandment?’ I replied, ‘It is the words of Allah. “Then spruce up and comply with your vows.’” He (the Imam) said, ‘Spruce up’ means visit your Imam, ‘comply with your vows’ means perform the acts of al-Hajj.’ ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan has said, ‘I visited abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and asked, “I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause. What is the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Spruce up and comply with your vows?”” He (the Imam) replied, ‘It means trimming one’s mustache and nails, and so on.’ I (the narrator) then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause. Dharih al-Muharibiy narrated to me that you have said to him, “Spruce up” means visiting the Imam, “comply with your vows” means performing acts of al-Hajj.’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Dharih has spoken the truth and you have spoken the truth. Al-Quran has apparent and hidden meanings. Who is he to bear what Dharih is able to bear?””

Even if he is an Alawite and Fatimite?” Imam al-Baqir (as) said: “Yes, even if he is an Alawite and Fatimite.” The narrator asked: “Even if he is one of Ali bin Abu Talib’s sons?” Imam al-Baqir said: “Yes, even if he is one of Ali bin Abu Talib’s sons.” The same tradition had been narrated by Muhammad bin Ya’qoob from Muhammad bin Yahya from Ahmad bin Muhammad from Muhammad bin Sinan from Abu Salam from Sawra bin Kulayb from Imam Abu Ja’far al-Baqir (as).

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about a man who, during a journey, experiences sexual relation but does not have any water with him except very little and is afraid of facing thirst if it is used for Ghusl (bath). He (the Imam) said, ‘If he is afraid of facing thirst, he must spill not even one drop; he must take Tayammum with soil; soil is more dear to me”

‘A fasting person has the choice until Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime)’. He said: ‘It is about the obligatory (fast). In the case of the optional (fast), one has the choice to stop fasting any time up to sunset.’”

“Allah, to Whom belong might and majesty, said, ‘By My might and My majesty, by My greatness and My power, by My grandeur and exaltedness, [I swear that] My servant does not prefer My desire over his own desire but that I place needlessness [and contentment] in his soul, make his [primary] concern for his Hereafter, prevent him from suffering loss, guarantee his sustenance from the skies and the earth, and stand behind him [to ensure his benefit] in the transaction of every trader.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘When Yusuf ‘Alayhi al-Salam, met his brother, he asked him, ‘How could you marry women after me?’ He replied, ‘My father commanded me and said, ‘If you like to have such a number of children who can make the earth heavy with Tasbih (Allah is free of all defects) you must do so.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is lawful for a man to sell goods which are not with him in the form of Musawamah (fixed price regardless of capital), then buy for him the goods he demands and make it necessary for yourself thereafter to ask him to sell it to you.’”

I heard from Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s) that he said with regard to change of destiny (Bada) by Allah: That which Almighty Allah gave to the angels, they conveyed it to the prophets and the prophets in turn conveyed to the people [law of religion]. Therefore, in this instance it is not Bada, because it is called definite (Mahtum); and among the definite matters is that this son of mine is the Qaim.

Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) was asked, “What is the lowest form of idol-worship?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Creating a new religion and loving and hating people on the basis of it.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, had a musk container. When making wudu he would take it in his hand while wet. When coming out people noticed his coming because of the perfume and fragrance.’”

"A woman has no authority with her husband regarding emancipation, charity, endowment, gift, or vow concerning her wealth, except with her husband's permission-except in the case of Zakat, kindness to her parents, or maintaining ties with her relatives."

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘If a Muslim man passes by a people who do have not any valid authority and they force him, he fears for his life, to set free a slave or divorce and he complies, it does not have any valid effect against him/”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that it is preferable when one is between the corner and the Black Stone to say, ‘O Allah, grant us goodness in this world as well as in the next life and protect us against hellfire/ He (the Imam) said, ‘The two guard angels will say, “Amen.’””

I heard Abu Abdullah (as) say regarding a man who tried to force himself unlawfully upon a woman, and she struck him with a stone, causing his death. Imam (as) said: "There is nothing upon her in what is between her and Allah (swt), the Majestic. And if she is brought before a just Imam, he will dismiss his (attackers') blood (declare it as wasted)."
