“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not unlawful if one has twenty shirts. 5 ”

I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)), “Should I go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Go to the Ziyārah of the Blessed One and establish prayers in full form next to his grave.” I asked, “Establish prayers in full form next to him?!” Imam (a.s.) replied, “(Establish prayers) in full form.” I said, “(But) some of our companions narrate that prayers should be established in Taqsīr?!” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Those who are weak do this.” The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muḥammad ibn Ya’qūb, from all of his scholars, from Sahl ibn Ziyāh, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Sāliḥ ibn ‘Uqbah, from Abī Shibl, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

Whoever eats clay will find his body itching, he will have hemorrhoids, a bad malady will irritate him, he will lose power in his legs and feet, and his health will deteriorate so much that his work will decrease, difficulty will consume him, and he will suffer.

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said, ‘Wishing and longing is an act of Satan. Eating clay is of the greater part of the hunting devices of Satan. It causes illness in the body and accelerates pain. If one because of eating clay loses his power that he had before eating clay and fails to work as he did before eating clay he will be made to suffer proportionate to the amount of power that he had lost because of eating clay.’”

“I once visited abu Ja’far (a.s.), and I was wearing al-Khuff (half-boot) which was Maqshurah. He (the Imam) said, ‘O, Ziyad, what is this which I see you wearing?’ I replied, ‘It is al- Khuff (half-boot) that I have found.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Did you know that the white one of al-Khuff (half-boot) that is, al-Maqshurah is of the footgear of the tyrants and they were the ones who made it? The red ones are of the footgear of Kisra’s (Persian kings) and they were the first ones who made it. The black ones are of the footgear of banu Hashim and of the noble tradition.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, if I can associate with Zoroastrians and eat from their food. He (the Imam) said, ‘No.’”

I said to Imam (as): "We had a camel driver who used to work for us. He loaded goods onto someone else's camel, and they were lost." Imam (as) said: "Hold him liable and take compensation from him."

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), has said, ‘Going back is going to bed with her, otherwise, it is only one divorce.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), about the divorced woman; where she completes her waiting period. He (the Imam) said, ‘She completes it in the house of her husband.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘That (bird) which comes back from a distance of thirty farsakh is because of guidance and from a distance of more than this is because of food.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Our Shi’a (followers) are those who when alone speak of Allah very often.’”

“I once heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.), saying, ‘Eating egg often increases the number of one’s children.’”

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying, ‘I like al-Khuluq.”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that if a person keeps his shroud ready, for each time he looks on it he is entitled to one reward.”

“I once had dinner with abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), and it was meat with milk. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is the sauce of the Prophets, ‘Alayhim al-Salam.’”

“He (the Imam) has said, ‘The most desirable food to the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, was al-Nar Bajah (broth made of pomegranate).”’

Abu Abdullah (asws) said that: ‘Allah (azwj) Protects the one who protects His (azwj) friend’.

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘Once I was in the meeting of Ziyad ibn ‘Abd Allah and Rabi’ah al-Ra’iy was also there. Ziyad said, ‘What is the area which the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has made a place of sacred status in al-Madinah?’ He replied, ‘It is one square Barid.’ He then said to Rabi’ah, ‘During the time of the Messenger of Allah it was many miles.’ He then remained quiet and did not answer him. Ziyad then turned to me and asked, ‘O abu ‘Abd Allah, what do you say?’ I replied, ‘The sacred area of the Messenger of Allah is the area between the two Labit of al-Madinah.’ He then asked, ‘What is al-Labit?’ I replied, ‘It is the area surrounded by al-Hirar (hills).’ He asked, ‘What of amount of trees has he made sacred?’ I said, ‘From this mountain to that mountain.’” “Safwan has said that ibn Muskan has said that al-Hassan has said, ‘A man then asked him, when I was present, ‘Is it what is between the two hills?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is the area between the two boundaries up to al-Thaniyah (name of a place).”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘ Aqiqah is not like the animal offering for al-Hajj. The fat one is better for Aqiqah.’”

Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) said: "No man has ever had an abundance of hair without his desire becoming less."
