خلف بن المطلب: قال الشيخ الحر في تذكرة المتبحرين (312): " السيد الجليل خلف بن المطلب بن حيدر الموسوي المشعشي الحويزي حاكم الحويزة، كان عالما، فاضلا، محققا، جليل القدر، شاعرا، أديبا، له كتب منها: سيف الشيعة في الحديث وحق اليقين في الكلام، وبرهان الشيعة في الإمامة والحجة البالغة في الكلام، وكتاب كبير في المنطق والكلام، ورسالة في النحو ومنظومة في النحو، وشرح دعاء عرفة، وديوان شعر عربي، وديوان شعر فارسي، وغير ذلك، من المعاصرين لشيخنا البهائي ".
