hadith 1570
5. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from certain individuals of our people in a marfu’ manner who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Hold your soul responsible for yourself. If you did not do so others will not do for you.’”
5ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) احْمِلْ نَفْسَكَ لِنَفْسِكَ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ لَمْ يَحْمِلْكَ غَيْرُكَ.

6. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) in a marfu’ manner from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the
following to a man: “You have been made the physician for your own self. Medicine is prescribed for you; signs of good health are shown to you, and the direction for medicine is given to you. It is all up to you how you treat yourself.”
6ـ عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) لِرَجُلٍ إِنَّكَ قَدْ جُعِلْتَ طَبِيبَ نَفْسِكَ وَبُيِّنَ لَكَ الدَّاءُ وَعُرِّفْتَ آيَةَ الصِّحَّةِ وَدُلِلْتَ عَلَى الدَّوَاءِ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ قِيَامُكَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ.

7. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) in a marfu’ manner from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the
following to a man: “Make your heart a virtuous companion for yourself or like a child who does not fail to maintain good relations with parents. Consider your deeds as your father whom you follow, consider your soul as your enemy against whom you strive and consider your properties as borrowed for the safe return of which you are responsible.”
7ـ عَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) لِرَجُلٍ اجْعَلْ قَلْبَكَ قَرِيناً بَرّاً أَوْ وَلَداً وَاصِلاً وَاجْعَلْ عَمَلَكَ وَالِداً تَتَّبِعُهُ وَاجْعَلْ نَفْسَكَ عَدُوّاً تُجَاهِدُهَا وَاجْعَلْ مَالَكَ عَارِيَّةً تَرُدُّهَا.

following: “Hold back your soul from that which harms it before it departs you, strive to set it free just as you strive to make a living; your soul’s well being depends upon your good deeds.”
8ـ وَعَنْهُ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) اقْصُرْ نَفْسَكَ عَمَّا يَضُرُّهَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تُفَارِقَكَ وَاسْعَ فِي فَكَاكِهَا كَمَا تَسْعَى فِي طَلَبِ مَعِيشَتِكَ فَإِنَّ نَفْسَكَ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَمَلِكَ.

2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Husayn ibn ‘Uthman and Muhammad ibn abu Hamzah and others besides the two from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One who prepares a carriage (carried on camel back) for al-Hajj is like one who prepares a horse to be used in the way of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious.”’
2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ وَغَيْرِهِمَا عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَم) مَنِ اتَّخَذَ مَحْمِلاً لِلْحَجِّ كَانَ كَمَنْ رَبَطَ فَرَساً فِي سَبِيلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.

269. A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin ziyad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad bin Abu nasr, from Musanna Al-Hannaat and Muhammad Bin Muslim who said
Abu Abdullah (asws) said: ‘The one who is of a truthful tongue, his deeds would be pure, and the one who is of good intention, Allah (azwj) Increases his sustenance, and the one who is kind to his family, Allah (azwj) Increases his life’.
عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ مُثَنًّى الْحَنَّاطِ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَا
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (عليه السلام) مَنْ صَدَقَ لِسَانُهُ زَكَا عَمَلُهُ وَ مَنْ حَسُنَتْ نِيَّتُهُ زَادَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي رِزْقِهِ وَ مَنْ حَسُنَ بِرُّهُ بِأَهْلِهِ زَادَ اللَّهُ فِي عُمُرِهِ.

3. Through the same chain of narrators as the previous one from al-Hajjal from ‘Ubayd ibn Ishaq who has said the following
“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I own palm trees. Instruct me how to be proper in my giving and taking.’ Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), said, ‘Keep your intention to maintain it (crop) properly fair; if despite such intention, less proper fairness takes place, you are of those who maintain it properly. On the other hand, if you intended it to be less proper, but maintained it properly, you are of those who maintain it less properly.’”
3- عَنْهُ عَنِ الْحَجَّالِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ
قُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) إِنِّي صَاحِبُ نَخْلٍ فَخَبِّرْنِي بِحَدٍّ أَنْتَهِي إِلَيْهِ فِيهِ مِنَ الْوَفَاءِ فَقَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) انْوِ الْوَفَاءَ فَإِنْ أَتَى عَلَى يَدِكَ وَقَدْ نَوَيْتَ الْوَفَاءَ نُقْصَانٌ كُنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْوَفَاءِ وَإِنْ نَوَيْتَ النُّقْصَانَ ثُمَّ أَوْفَيْتَ كُنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النُّقْصَانِ.

(10) Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Sa’eed narrated from Ahmad bin Yousuf bin Ya’qoob al-Ju’fi from Issma’eel bin Mihran from al-Hasan bin Ali bin Abu Hamza from his father and Wuhayb from Abu Baseer that Abu Abdullah as-Sadiq (as) had said
“Every one of you is to prepare himself for the appearance of al-Qa’im even with one arrow because if Allah knows that one intends that sincerely, He may prolong his life that he may live until the appearance of al-Qa’im and then he becomes one of his assistants and supporters.”
10 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد قال: حدثنا أحمد بن يوسف بن يعقوب أبو الحسن الجعفي، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن مهران، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن أبي حمزة، عن أبيه ووهيب عن أبي بصير، قال
قال أبو عبد الله: ليُعدن أحدكم لخروج القائم ولو سهماً، فإن الله تعالى إذا علم ذلك من نيته رجوت لأن ينسئ في عمره حتى يدركه فيكون من أعوانه وأنصاره.

5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from al-Minqari from Ahmad ibn Yunus from abu Hashim who has said the following
“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘People of hell will remain in hell for ever because of their intention in this world to disobey Allah even if they lived here forever. People of paradise will live therein forever because of their intention in this world to worship Allah even if they lived here forever. Because of intentions these and those will remain therein forever. The Imam then recited the words of Allah, “Say, everyone does as he intends (shakilah). . . . ,” (17:84) the Imam said, ‘It (Shakilah) means intention.’”
5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ
قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) إِنَّمَا خُلِّدَ أَهْلُ النَّارِ فِي النَّارِ لأنَّ نِيَّاتِهِمْ كَانَتْ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَنْ لَوْ خُلِّدُوا فِيهَا أَنْ يَعْصُوا الله أَبَداً وَإِنَّمَا خُلِّدَ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لأنَّ نِيَّاتِهِمْ كَانَتْ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَنْ لَوْ بَقُوا فِيهَا أَنْ يُطِيعُوا الله أَبَداً فَبِالنِّيَّاتِ خُلِّدَ هَؤُلاءِ وَهَؤُلاءِ ثُمَّ تَلا قَوْلَهُ تَعَالَى قُلْ كُلٌّ يَعْمَلُ عَلى‏ شاكِلَتِهِ قَالَ عَلَى نِيَّتِهِ.
