The Messenger of Allah (swt) (peace and blessings of Allah (swt) be upon him and his family) forbade a man from entering upon his family at night when returning from a journey, until he informs them beforehand.

“Once, some people of Yemen came to Medina. The Prophet (sw) said: “They come to you gently.” When they came to the Prophet (sw), he said: “They are people of gentle hearts and deep-rooted faith. From among them, there will be al-Mansoor. He will come with seventy thousand soldiers. He will support my descendant and my guardian’s descendant. The sheaths of their swords are from musk.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, who is your guardian?”
The Prophet (sw) said: “It is he, whom Allah has ordered you to keep to when He has said: (And hold fast by the covenant (rope) of Allah all together and be not disunited).” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, will you declare to us what this rope is?” He said: “It is the saying of Allah, ‘save (where they grasp) a rope from Allah and a rope from men.’ The rope from Allah is His Book and the rope from people is my guardian.” They asked: “O Messenger of Allah, who is your guardian?” He said: “It is he about whom Allah has revealed, ‘Lest a soul should say: O woe to me! For what I fell short of my duty to Allah.’” They asked: “O Messenger of Allah, what is this duty to Allah?” He said: “It is what Allah has said about, ‘And the day when the unjust one shall bite his hands saying: O! would that I had taken a way with the Messenger.’ It is my guardian and the way that leads to me.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah! By Him, Who has sent you with the truth, declare him to us. We are so eager to know who he is.” He said: “It is he, whom Allah has made as a sign for the true believers. If you look at him with a look of (him who has a heart, or gives ear with full intelligence), you will know that he is my guardian as you have known that I am your prophet. Go through the rows and stare at the faces then see towards whom your hearts incline. It will be him because Allah has said: (therefore make the hearts of some people yearn towards them). It means towards him and his progeny (as).” Then Abu Aamir al-Ash’ari, Abu Ghurra al-Khawlani, Dhabyan, Uthman bin Qays, Arana ad-Dousi and Lahiq Bin Alaqa from among their tribes went through the rows, stared at the faces and held the hand of the bald, stout man and said: “O Messenger of Allah, towards this man our hearts yearned.” The Prophet (sw) said: “You are the elite of Allah where you recognized the Prophet’s guardian before you have been told about him. How did you know that he was him?” They began crying and said: “O messenger of Allah, we looked at the people but our hearts did not incline to any of them. When we saw this man our hearts trembled and then our souls felt assured, our eyes shed tears and our chests became pleased as if he was our father and we were his children.” The Prophet (sw) recited: “But none knows its interpretation except Allah and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge.” You are near them in your good position and you are far away from Hell. These men remained loyal until they fought with Imam Ali (as) in the battles of al-Jamal (the camel) and Siffeen, in which they were martyred. May Allah have mercy upon them. The Prophet (sw) had brought them good news to be in Paradise and had predicted that they would have been martyred with Imam Ali (as).”

‘I came to Fatima (a.s) and a tablet was placed before her with names of the successors from her progeny. I counted upto twelve, one of them was Al-Qaim (a.s), three were named Muhammad and three were named Ali (peace be on them all).’

“I went to see (the Blessed Lady) Fatima (s). There was a tablet in front of her in which there were the names of the Trustees. There were twelve names - the last one of which is the Riser. Three of them were Muhammad (s) and four of them were Ali (s).”

The stingy is not the one who gives the obligatory alms tax from his property and grants the final to his people. Rather, the stingy, the truly stingy, is the one who prevents (the deduction of) the obligatory alms tax from his property, and who prevents (the giving of) the final to his people, and who spendthrifts in other than that.

“I once heard abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), saying that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘If you like I can tell you who are of the worst kind of your women. She is the one who is undignified in her family, flattered by her husband, barren, spiteful, who does not abstain from indecency, roams around to show off in the absence of her husband and very reserved when her husband is present. She does not listen to his words and does not obey his orders and in private she refuses to yield to him like recalcitrant animal who refuses to allow riding. She does not accept any of his excuses and does not forgive any of his sins.’”

“The Messenger of Allah (a.s.) once said, ‘Do you want me to tell you about the best men among you?’ We said, ‘Yes, O, Messenger of Allah, do so.’ He said, ‘The best men among you are the pious, clean, of forgiving hands, clean on both ends (tongue and genitals) who is kind to his parents and does not leave out his dependents to (trouble) others.’”

Fatima (sa) said to the Messenger of Allah (s): O father! Where can I find you on the Day of the Great Stand, the Day of Horrors, and the Day of Great Dismay? He said: O Fatima! At the Gate of Paradise. I will have the Banner of Praise, and I am the intercessor for my Nation to my Lord. She said: O father! What if I do not find you there? He said: Find me at the Pond, where I will feed water to my Nation. She said: O father! What if I do not find you there? He said: Find me on the Path, where I will be standing and saying: “My Lord! Safeguard my Nation.” She said: What if I do not find you there? He said: Find me at the Scale, where I will be saying: “My Lord! Safeguard my Nation.” She said: What if I do not find you there? He said: Find me at the mouth of Hell, where I will be preventing its evil and its flames from my Nation. So, Fatima was gladdened by that – may the blessings of Allah be upon her, and upon her father, her husband, and her children.

The Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, once addressed us, praising and thanking Allah and then said: "O people (after completing his speech), I recommend to you the daily prayers, I recommend to you the daily prayers! For it is the pillar of your faith. And make special efforts for the prayers during the nights and remember him often, that He may expiate your sins. Surely, the example of these five daily prayers is that of a flowing brook near your door; in which you are washed five times a day. So just as frequent baths clean your body of the dirt, the same way, sins are washed off by constant prayers, leaving no sin behind. O men, there is no one of the servants of Allah who is not hit by a knotty situation. Then when the two-third of a night is over and a third is left, an angel comes to him, and says: ’Rise and remember Allah, for the morning is near!’ He said: If the servant rises to remember Allah at that time, his knots would be undone. And if he stood to do the wudhoo and started the prayers, all his knots would be undone; and he would enter the dawn with joy in his eyes."

I entered to meet Fatima عليها السلام and found a tablet in front of her in which were the names of the Awsiya (Heirs). I counted twelve names the last of them being the Qaim عليه السلام. Three of them were Muhammad and four of them had names of Ali عليهم السلام

"I entered upon Sayyida Fatimah {s.a}, and before her {s.a} was a tablet in which were the names of the successors from her offspring. I counted twelve, and one of them was the Riser (Al-Qaʾim (as)). Three of them were named Muhammad (as), and four of them were named Ali (as)."

Prophet of God (a.s) left his house and went towards the Blessed Fatima's house while he accompanied him. When they reached her house, the Prophet put his hand on the door and shook it and said: “Peace be upon you.” Fatima said: “O' Prophet of God! Peace be upon you.” God's Prophet (a.s) said: “Can I enter?” She said: “O' Prophet of God! Come in please.” The Prophet (a.s) said: “Can my companion and I enter?” She said: “O' Prophet of God! I do not have a scarf.” The Prophet (a.s) said: “Just use the cloth that you are holding in your hands as a scarf.” She did that. Then the Prophet (a.s) said: “Peace be upon you.” She said: “O' Prophet of God! Peace be upon you.” The Prophet (a.s) said: “Can I enter?” She said: “O' Prophet of God! Yes.” He asked: “Can my companion and I enter?” She said: “Yes. You and your companion can enter.” Jabir narrated that first the Prophet entered and then he entered the house. At this moment they saw that the Blessed Fatima (a.s) was pale yellow like the color of the stomach of a locust. The Prophet asked: “Why is your face yellow?” She said: “O' Prophet of God! It is due to hunger.” The Prophet (a.s) said: “O' God who make the hungry ones full, and eliminate destruction! Please make Fatima the daughter of Muhammad full.” Jabir added that at this time he suddenly saw an inrush of blood started from Fatima's forehead under her skin and her face turned red, and she never again got hungry after that prayer.

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘The most evil among people on the Day of Judgment will be one whom people respect for fear of his evil manners’”

Once, the Prophet, peace be upon him and his progeny, came upon us holding the hands of al-Hasan and al-Husayn, peace be upon them and said: "These are my two sons, who I have brought up from infancy and for whom I have prayed to Allah as they grew up. I prayed for them for three things, out of which He granted two and restrained one. I beseeched Allah to keep them pure and cleansed from all evil and make them chaste. Allah granted my prayer. And I prayed that they and their progeny be guarded together with their followers, from the hellfire. Allah granted my prayer. And I asked Allah that the Ummah be united in their love for them." He said: "O Muhammad! I have decreed and I have determined. A group from among your Ummah will remain faithful to the covenant you have made with the Jews, the Christians and the Magians and will break your covenant regarding your descendants. And I have so decreed that, whoever does that, shall not have a place at My honoured station, nor will I allow him to enter My Paradise, nor shall I have an eye of mercy upon him on the Day of Judgement."

“Two events are inevitable: The one who died witnessing that there is no god but Allah (He is One and He has no partner with Him) will enter Paradise, and the one who died associating partners with Allah will enter Hellfire.”

“The Messenger of Allah (a.s.) once asked, ‘Should I tell you who is the most wicked among your men?’ They said, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said, ‘Of the wicked ones among you is a man, accusing, boldly foulmouthed, eating all alone, refusing to give any gifts, beats up his slave and causes his family to seek refuge in others.’”

“I went to see (the Blessed Lady) Fatima - the daughter of God’s Prophet (s). There was a tablet in front of her. It was so brilliant that it was about to blind my eyes. Twelve names could be seen - three names on the tablet, three names on the back, three names at the end and three names on the side. I counted them. There were twelve of them. I asked, ‘Whose names are these?’ (The Blessed Lady) Fatima (s) replied, ‘These are the names of the Trustees. The first of them is my cousin (Imam Ali), and the rest are from my progeny. The last one of them is the Riser.’”Jabir ibn Abdullah Al-Ansari added, “The name Muhammad Muhammad Muhammad was seen in three places and the name Ali Ali Ali Ali could be seen in four places.”

I asked him about this verse in the saying of Allah, Exalted and Glorious is He: «And if you are killed in the Path of Allah, or die» (3:157). He said: Then he said: Do you know what the Path of Allah is? He said: I said: No, by Allah, except that I hear it from you. He said: The Path of Allah is Ali, peace be upon him, and his offspring. With regards to the Path of Allah, the one who is killed (for the sake of- and whilst believing) in his Divine Authority, is killed in the Path of Allah, and the one who dies (whilst believing) in his Divine Authority, dies in the Path of Allah.

The Prophet (s) said: Surely, Allah selected me, chose me, and made me a messenger. He revealed the Master of Books to me. So, I said: “My God and My Master! Surely, you sent Musa to Pharaoh, and he asked You if You could make his brother Harun a vizier to reinforce him and give further credibility to his words. O My Master and My God! I ask you to make for me a vizier from my family to reinforce me.” So, Allah made `Ali my vizier and my brother, and He emboldened his heart, and He dressed him in prestige over his enemies. He was the first to believe in me and the first to believe in Allah’s oneness with me. I asked my Lord for that and He granted it to me; so, he is the Master of Deputies. Following him is happiness and dying in obedience to him is martyrdom. His name in the Torah is attached to my name. His wife is the great saint, my daughter. His sons are the Masters of the Youth of Paradise, and they are my sons. He, his sons, and the Imams after them are the Proofs of Allah over His creation after the prophets. They are the gates of knowledge in my Nation. Whoever follows them will be delivered from the Fire, and whoever believes in them will be guided to the Straight Path. Allah does not cause a worshiper to love them except that He will bring him to Paradise.

Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) delivered a sermon to us. He praised Allah and commended him, then said: O people! In front of this pulpit are a group of four from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (s) – Anas b. Malik, al-Bara’ b. `Azib al-Ansari, al-Ash`ath b. Qays al-Kindi, and Khalid b. Yazid al-Bajali. Then, he turned his face to Anas b. Malik and said: O Anas! You had heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: “Whoever takes me as a Master, then `Ali is his Master.” Yet, you did not bear witness to my wilaya today. So, may Allah not cause you to die until He afflicts you with a leprosy that cannot be covered by a turban. As for you, Ash`ath, you had heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: “Whoever takes me as a Master, then `Ali is his Master. O Allah! Befriend whoever befriends him and oppose whoever opposes him.” Yet, you did not bear witness to my wilaya today. So, may Allah not cause you to die until both your eyes go blind. As for you, Khalid b. Yazid, you had heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: “Whoever takes me as a Master, then `Ali is his Master. O Allah! Befriend whoever befriends him and oppose whoever opposes him.” Yet, you did not bear witness to my wilaya today. So, may Allah not cause you to die except the death of Jahiliyya. As for you, Bara’ b. `Azib, you had heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: “Whoever takes me as a Master, then `Ali is his Master. O Allah! Befriend whoever befriends him and oppose whoever opposes him.” Yet, you did not bear witness to my wilaya today. So, may Allah not cause you to die except in the place that you emigrated from. Jabir b. `Abdullah al-Ansari said: By Allah, I saw Anas b. Malik when he was afflicted with leprosy. He would try to cover it with a turban, but he could not hide it. I saw al-Ash`ath b. Qays’ eyes go blind; saying: “Praise be to Allah who made Amir al-Mu’minin `Ali b. Abi Talib pray that I go blind in this world rather than pray that I be punished in the Hereafter.” As for Khalid b. Yazid – when he died, his family wanted to bury him, and they dug [a grave] in his house and buried him. When Kindah heard about that, they brought a horse and a camel and slaughtered them [as done in the custom of Jahiliyya], so he died the death of Jahiliyya. As for al-Bara’ b. `Azib, Mu`awiya had appointed him over Yemen, and he died therein, which is where he emigrated from.
