I asked Abu Abdullah (as): "A man meets a woman and says to her, 'Marry me to yourself for a month,' but he does not specify which month. Then he meets her again after several years-does he still have his month?" Imam (as) replied: "He has his month if he had specified it. However, if he did not specify it, then he has no claim over her."

“This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a man who meets a woman, then asks her to give herself in marriage in the manner of al-Mut‘ah (advantageous marriage) to him for a month; but does not identify the month. Times pass and he meets her after several years. He (the Imam) said, ‘Had he specified the month he deserved it, if the month was not specified he could not claim anything from her.’”

“The Imam said to me, ‘O Mufaddal, listen to what I say to you. Bear in mind that it is the truth. Do it and inform ‘Ilyat, of your brothers (in belief).’ I asked, ‘May Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, what is (Tlyah) of my brothers (in belief)?’ The Imam said, ‘All those interested in helping their brothers (in belief).’ The narrator has said that the Imam then said, ‘Whoever makes one wish of his brother (in belief) come true Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, on the Day of Judgment will make one thousand of his wishes come true of which one is his admission in paradise, as well as his relatives, those whom he knows and his brothers will be admitted into paradise, provided, they are not against belief in Walayah (Divine Authority) of ‘A ’immah. Whenever al-Mufaddal would ask for help from any of his brothers (in belief) he would ask, ‘Do you not wish to be a ’Ilyah (brothers in belief) interested in helping believers?”’

“Allah, the Most Holy, the Most High, has said, ‘I am Allah. No one deserves to be obeyed and worshipped besides I the Creator of good and evil. Fortunate are those through whose hands I have made good to run and unfortunate are those through whose hands I have made evil to run and unfortunate are those who say, “How is this and how is that?”’ “Yunus has said, ‘It means they are those who deny this fact instead of having proper understanding of it.’”

And whatever is narrated from Bakkar ibn Kurdum, I have narrated it from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) have mercy on him - from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan Al-Ṣaffar, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ʿIsa, from Muhammad ibn Sinan, from Bakkar ibn Kurdum.
