أشعث بن قيس الكندي: أبو محمد، سكن الكوفة، ارتد بعد النبي صلى الله عليه وآله، في ردة أهل ياسر، وزوجه أبو بكر أخته أم فروة، وكانت عوراء، فولدت له محمدا، من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله، رجال الشيخ (23). وذكره في أصحاب علي عليه السلام أيضا (5) قائلا: " أشعث بن قيس الكندي، ثم صار خارجيا ملعونا ". وفي رواية الصدوق أنه ممن كتم شهادته في قول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله في علي عليه السلام: " من كنت مولاه فعلي مولاه "، فدعا عليه السلام بأن لا يموت حتى يذهب الله بكريمتيه، وتأتي الرواية في ترجمة البراء بن عازب. ومسجد أشعث من المساجد الملعونة، وتأتي روايته عن الكافي، في جرير بن عبد الله.
