Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, ‘The more faith a servant attains, the harder his life becomes.

Imam Sadiq (a.s) said: “As a servant's degree of belief increases, his difficulties to provide for his living expenses will increase.”

Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Faith appears as a white spot in the heart. So whenever faith increases in magnitude, the whiteness increases. When faith is completed, the entire heart becomes white.

he heard Imam Jafar ibn Muhammad Al-Sadiq (as) say: "The more love a servant has for women, the greater he increases in faith and virtue."

Imam Ali (AS) said, One who tries to understand increases [his understanding].

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘As the belief of a person increases in strength, his poverty intensifies.’”

Imam Ali (AS) said, Whenever the blessing of an ignorant person becomes good, his ugliness in it increases.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Whoever seeks the assistance of his enemy in order to fulfil his need, increases his distance from it [instead of getting it].

Imam Ali (AS) said, Whenever the intellect of a person increases, his faith in divine decree becomes stronger and he takes the changing events [that bring worldly loss to him] lightly.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Every time the knowledge of a person increases, his concern for his soul increases, and he exerts his efforts in training and reforming it.

Imam al-Kazim (AS) said, ‘The parable of this world is that of sea water, however much the thirsty man drinks from it, his thirst intensifies until it kills him.

Imam Ali (AS) said, Whenever a person becomes more preoccupied and infatuated with this world, it makes him enter paths [of danger] and fall into places of destruction.

Imam Baqir (a.s) said: “God's blessings will not increase unless God's share of it increases.”

The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘He who does not increase in guidance in spite of an increase in his knowledge only gets further away from Allah.

The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Whoever adheres to the ruler will be tempted away from the right course, and the closer one gets to the ruler the further away one is from Allah.

Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, ‘Our Shiaa are of three types: one type dupe people in our name, one type are like glass which discloses everything that is inside it [that they, like glass, cannot keep hidden that which is placed in their trust, like secrets (ed.)], and one type are like red gold, which the more it is brandished in the fire, the purer it becomes.

"I do not think that a man increases in faith and goodness except that he also increases in love for women."

The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘He who seeks knowledge for Allah, no sooner does he learn even a chapter of it than it increases him in humility within himself, in humbleness in front of people, it increases his fear of Allah and his striving in religion, and that is the one who benefits from the knowledge that he gains. And he who seeks knowledge for this world and for status amongst people and for a favoured position with the ruler, no sooner does he learn even a chapter of it than it only increases his arrogance within himself, his presumptuousness with people, his self-delusion about Allah and his estrangement from religion. That is the one who does not benefit from his knowledge, and must subsequently refrain from it and stop furnishing proof for the case against himself in order not to feel regret and shame on the Day of Resurrection'.

Prophet of God (a.s) said: “Whoever studies for the sake of God will become humbler when he makes a scientific achievement. Then he will be more humble with the people, and will fear God more, and will strive more for the religion. Such a scientist will benefit from his knowledge and will also help others benefit from it. But whoever seeks knowledge in order to attain worldly gains, higher status, and a higher post near the king will get haughtier the more he learns, and will become debased near the people. He will get haughty before God, and will disobey religion. Such a person will not benefit from his knowledge and will not have any support for himself, and will only get sorry, and debased on the Resurrection Day.”

“The case of the world is like the water of the ocean. The more a thirsty person drinks from it, the thirstier he becomes, consequently, it kills him.”
