أحمد بن عبد الله الأصفهاني: الحافظ أبو نعيم: عامي المذهب، إلا أن له كتاب منقبة المطهرين ومرتبة الطيبين، وما نزل من القرآن في أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام. معالم العلماء: لابن شهرآشوب 123. وعن ابن خلكان في تاريخه: مدح الرجل من جهة علمه وفضله والثقة به، وأنه ولد في رجب سنة 334، ومات في محرم، أو في صفر سنة 435.
