Jāmiʿ al-Ruwāt

p. 417 a liar
أبو مسلم اسمه أهبان بن صيفي " س ".

Al-Fadl ibn Shadhan said he was a libertine or a companion of Mu'awiyah. Ibn Qutaybah reported from Al-Fadl that he was one of the eight ascetics but was a libertine hypocrite and a companion of Mu'awiyah. He encouraged people to fight against Ali (AS), demanding the Muhajirun and Ansar be killed for Uthman. Ali (AS) refused, at which point Abu Muslim said, 'Now the striking is pleasant.' He was a trap and a snare.
