محمد علي بن أحمد: قال الأردبيلي في جامعه: " محمد علي بن أحمد بن كمال الدين حسين الاسترآبادي: شيخنا واستاذنا، الامام العلامة، المحقق المدقق، النحرير، جليل القدر، رفيع المنزلة، عظيم الشأن، زكي الخاطر، حديد الذهن، ثقة، ثبت، عين، وحيد عصره، فريد دهره، أورع أهل زمانه، وأتقاهم وأعبدهم، ولد أول خميس رجب الأصب لحجة عشر وألف من الهجرة الشريفة، وتوفي قدس الله روحه الشريف في أول خميس رجب من سنة أربع وتسعين بعد الألف رضي الله عنه وأرضاه ".
