“I once heard Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), narrating from his father that the Messenger of Allah (saww) offered ‘Aqiqah for al-Hassan (a.s.). It was a ram and one ram for al-Husayn (a.s.). He (the Messenger of Allah) gave something to al-Qabilah (the special nurse), shaved their heads on the seventh day, weighed their hairs and equal to its weight gave in charity.’ He (the narrator) has said, ‘I asked him (the Imam), ‘Is blood taken to stain the head of the child?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘That is shirk (considering things partners of Allah), a practice of pagans.’ I then said, ‘Allah is free of all defects. Is it shirk?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is not shirk it certainly was a practice in the time of ignorance and Islam has prohibited it.’”

A sound [like moaning] will be heard from it due to the intensity of its heat.”

“The Holy Prophet has said, ‘Whoever does not feel any concern for the affairs of Muslims is no longer one of them. Whoever hears a man calling, “O Muslims, help” and one does not respond, he is not a Muslim.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, ‘If four sons are born to someone and he does not name even one of them with my name he has done injustice to me.’”

The Prophet, Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family, said: Perform additional prayers during the hour of unawareness, even if by two light rak’as, for indeed, they are a cause of (acquiring) the Home of Dignity. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, and when is the hour of unawareness? He said: Between the (prayers of the) sundown and the evening.

We prayed the final `Isha with the Messenger of Allah (s). When he recited the taslim, he turned his face toward us, then said: Surely, a meteor will fall from the sky at the rise of dawn. It will land in the house of one of you. Whoever has the meteor fall into his house, then he is my deputy, my vicegerent (khalifa), and the Imam after me. When Fajr approached, every one of us sat in his house waiting for the meteor to fall in his house. The most desirous of the people of that was my father, al-`Abbas b. `Abd al-Muttalib. At the rise of dawn, the meteor emerged in the air and landed in the house of `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to `Ali (as): O `Ali! By Him who raised me with prophethood! The deputyship, vicegerency, and Imamate has been obligated for you after me. Then, the hypocrites of `Abdullah b. Ubay and his companions said: Muhammad has deviated in his love for his cousin, and he only spoke with regards to him out of desire. So, Allah revealed, “By the star when it fades away” (53:1) – Allah is saying: “By the Creator of the star when it fades away” – “Your companion has not deviated” (53:2) – meaning, Muhammad (s) in his love for `Ali b. Abi Talib – “nor has he gone astray. Nor does he speak out of desire.” (53:2-3) – meaning, with regards to him – “Rather, it is not but a revealed revelation.” (53:4)
