1. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his father that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The ranks of the people of Quran come next to that of the prophets and messengers. Don’t ever consider the people of Quran as weak and don’t reduce their rights for they have a high status near Allah.”

Hadith.1998 - Sulaiman ibn Ja'far Al-Ja'fari asked Abu Al-Hasan Al-Ridha (as) about a man who has missed days from the Month of Ramadan. Can he make them up non-consecutively? Imam (as) replied: "There is no harm in making up the fasts of the Month of Ramadan separately. The fasting that must not be separated is the fast of expiation for zhihar, expiation for shedding blood, and expiation for breaking an oath."

“Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said that Ali ibn al-Husayn, has said, ‘The crest on the head of lark is because of wiping of Solomon ibn David (a.s.). It happened when the male lark wanted to mount the female (and) she refused. The male said, ‘Do not refuse because I want that Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, to give us the offspring because of which you will be remembered.’ The female then agreed. When it was to lay eggs the male asked, ‘Where do you want to lay eggs?’ The female replied, ‘I do not know. Can I lay the eggs away from the road?’ The male said, ‘I am afraid of bypassers, however, I think you should lay eggs near the road and those who see you may think that you are picking grains from the road.’ The female agreed and laid the eggs; then sat on them to hatch until they were about to hatch that Solomon son of David (a.s.), with his army, while birds forming shadow on him, appeared. The female said, ‘This is Solomon coming to us with his army and I do not feel safe for my eggs being crushed under their feet.’ The male said, ‘Solomon is a kind man. Do you have anything which you may have saved for your baby larks when they are hatched to offer him as present?’ The female replied, ‘Yes, it is a locust that I had hidden from you for the baby larks when they are hatched; but do you have anything for a present?’ The male replied, ‘Yes, it is a date that I had hidden from you for the bay larks.’ The female said, ‘You take your date and I take my locust to present them to Solomon ‘Alayhi al-Salam, he is a man who loves presents. The male took the date in its beak and the female took the locust in its paws and appeared before Solomon. When he saw them he was on his throne. He extended his hands for them. The male sat on his right hand and the female on his left hand. He asked how they were doing and they informed him. He accepted their gift and asked his army to be careful about their eggs. He wiped their heads and prayed for them for blessing. The crest on their head is because of the wiping of Solomon (a.s.).’”

“Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’ (a.s.), has said, ‘On each wing of the Hoopoe in Assyrian language it is written, ‘Family of Muhammad are the best of creatures.’”

“Al-Abrash al-Kalbiy once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘On the day when the earth will be replaced with another earth.’ (14:48) He (the Imam) said, ‘It means that there will be purified bread for people to eat until Allah will clear the accounts.’ Al-Abrash has said, ‘I then said, “People on that day will already have other things to worry about instead of eating.’” Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), said, ‘If they in the fire will be eating al-Dari‘ (a terrible kind of food for those in hell) and drinking hot, filthy water in suffering instead of worrying about other things; they can also eat purified bread during the time their accounts are cleared.’”

“Once I became ill until I lost all of my flesh. I visited al-Rida’ (a.s.), who asked, ‘Will you like to see your flesh come back?’ I replied, ‘Yes, I like to see my flesh come back.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘You must continue taking a bath one day and on the day after the next day, your flesh will come back. You must not take a bath every day because it causes tuberculosis.’” (Perhaps if it is a public bathhouse)

“I once was with al-Rida’ (a.s.), because of a certain work and I wanted to leave for my home but he (the Imam) said, ‘Come with me and stay for the night with me/ I went with him (the Imam), he entered in his house with al-Mu‘attib and looked at his slaves who worked with clay, in the animal barn and other things and with them there was a black man who was not one of them. He (the Imam) asked, ‘Who is this man with you?’ They replied, ‘He is helping us and we will give him something.’ He (the Imam) then asked, ‘Have you determined how much you must pay him?’ They replied, ‘No, because he will agree with whatever we will give him.’ He (the Imam) turned upon them using a whip, expressing intense anger. I then said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, please do not take it upon yourself.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘I have prohibited them many times from allowing anyone to work with them without determining his wages. I know that there is no one who works for you in anything without determining his wages; then you pay him three times more than what his work is worth for, he still thinks that you have paid him less than his wages; but if you determine his wages first, then pay his wages he will be grateful to you for keeping your promise and if you increase even by one grain he will recognize it as your favor and see that you have paid him extra.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Do not use water which is heated by sun rays for Wudu’, Ghusl (bath) or to turn flour into dough with it; it causes leprosy.’”

“I heard abu al-Hassan (a.s.) saying, ‘If a child maintains reading every night Chapters 113, 114 three times each and Chapter 112 one hundred times or, if he cannot do it, fifty times Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, diverts all health problems of childhood and dehydration, stomach disorder and blood pressure all the time, as long as he maintains such readings until his old age. If he would maintain it or is made to maintain it, he will remain safe until the time Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, will take his soul away.’”

“Abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, liked to look at the green citron and red apple.’”

“About the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘We sent water from the sky in measures and placed it on earth and We have the power to take it away,’ (23:18) abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It means canyons and ravines.’”

I heard Abul Hasan, peace be upon him, saying to my father: "How is that I saw you at Abdul Rahman ibn Yaqoob?" He said: "He is my uncle." So Abul Hasan, peace be upon him said: "He says appalling things about Allah, defining Him, while Allah cannot be described. So, you either sit with him and leave us, or you sit with us and leave him!" My father said: "Shall I not sit with him even if I do not ascribe to what he says?" Abul Hasan, peace be upon him, said: "Do you not fear that a divine wrath may descend and afflict you all?" Do you not know that there was a companion of Musa and his father was a partisan of Pharoah (Fira’wn). When the horses of Pharoah drew near Musa, peace be upon him, that companion stayed behind to admonish his father. And Musa saw him and his father engaged in the dispute, till they reached the sea and both were drowned together. When Musa learnt about this, he asked Jibraeel about his companion’s destiny. He said: "May Allah have mercy on him, the man drowned and was not in any way associated with the belief of his father. But when the divine wrath descends, it grants no defense to those near the sinners."

O Prophet of God! This is an insane epileptic and we have gathered around him.”The Prophet (MGB) said, “This man is not insane. He is ill.” Then the Prophet (MGB) said, “Do you want me to tell you who a real insane one is?”They said, “O Prophet of God! Yes.” The Prophet (MGB) said, “A true insane is one who walks with pride; looks at the people from the corners of his eyes; shakes his shoulders due to haughtiness; he wishes to go to Heaven although he commits sins; people are not secure from his wicked deeds; there is no hope that he will do a good deed. Such a person is insane. This poor fellow is just ill.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Allah, most Blessed, most High, made five Salah (prayer) obligatory, and from every Salah (prayer) there is one Takbir (Allah is great beyond description) in Salah (prayer) for a deceased.’”

White hair on the forehead is a sign of prosperity. White hair on the two cheeks is a sign of generosity. White hair on the head is a sign of bravery and white hair on the back of the head is a sign of misfortune.”

My mother who delivered me was not from the Bakr tribe or the Thaqif tribe.’ He (MGB) also said, ‘There are some noble people in all tribes except for the Umayyads.’”

The evil, for the traveller in his road, are five things – The cawing crow on his right and spreading its tail; and the howling wolf which howls on the face of the man while sitting on it’s tail and raises its voice and lowers it three times; and the deer which crossing from the right to the left, and the crying owl, and an old woman coming in from the front, and confronting a female (astray) donkey. So the one who feels anything from these for himself, so he should immediately say, ‘I adhere to You (azwj), O Lord (azwj), from the evil of what I find in (front of) myself’. He (asws) said; ‘He would be protected from that’.

“Abu al-Hassan (a.s.), when food was made available and certain people had not washed their hands, would say, ‘Those whose hands are clean can eat without washing their hands.’”

“Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, sent revelation to one of the prophets that said, ‘When I am obeyed I become happy. When I become happy I grant blessings and there is no end to My blessings. When I am disobeyed I become angry, when I become angry I condemn and My condemnation reaches seven levels (generations).’”

"Ill omen for a traveler on his journey lies in six things: A croaking crow on his right side, A dog wagging its tail, A howling wolf that howls facing the man, sitting on its tail, howling and then raising and lowering itself three times, A deer crossing from the right to the left, A screeching owl, And an old gray-haired woman exposing herself, or a mutilated she-donkey, meaning one with clipped ears. Whoever feels apprehension in themselves from any of these, let them say: 'I seek refuge with You, my Lord (azj), from the evil that I sense within myself; so protect me from it.' Imam (as) said: 'They will then be protected from it.'"
