حريز بن عبد الله السجستاني

Everything in this book that is narrated from Bahr Al-Saqqa' has been transmitted by me from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Sa'd ibn Abdullah, from Ibrahim ibn Mahziyar, from his brother Ali, from Hammad ibn 'Isa, from Hariz, from Bahr Al-Saqqa', who is Bahr ibn Kathir.

1. Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) narrates that Amirul Momineen (a.s.) said, “One who recites Surahs while attending Congregation Prayer behind an Imam, will not be considered a follower of Islam after his death.”

Everything in this book that is narrated from Zurara ibn A'yun has been transmitted by me from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Abdullah ibn Ja'far Al-Himyari, from Muhammad ibn 'Isa ibn 'Ubayd, Al-Hasan ibn Zhurayf, and Ali ibn Isma'il ibn 'Isa, all from Hammad ibn 'Isa, from Hariz ibn Abdullah, from Zurara ibn A'yun.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Hariz ibn Abdullah concerning Zakat has been transmitted by me from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Muhammad ibn Al-Hasan Al-Saffar, from Al-Abbas ibn Ma'ruf, from Isma'il ibn Sahl, from Hammad ibn Isa, from Hariz ibn Abdullah. I have also narrated it from my father - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Hammad, from Hariz.

Hadith.2332 - In a narration from Hariz ibn Abdullah, from him (Imam Abu Abdullah (as)): "It is not appropriate to enter the Haram with a weapon unless it is placed in a sack or concealed - meaning, the blade should be wrapped in something."

“The angel does not write down except that which he hears. Allah, to Whom belong might and majesty, said: Remember your Lord inwardly, in humility and awe… (Q7:205). Indeed, no one knows the reward of that remembrance within the heart of a servant other than Allah, the Exalted.”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that if it becomes difficult for one of you, you should inform your brother (in belief) while you are unable to help yourself.”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘Islam is founded on five isssues. It is founded on Salat (prayer), zakat, al-Hajj, Fasting and al-Wilayat (belief in Divine Authority of ’A’immah). The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Fasting is a shield against the fire of hell.”

“Someone asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about fasting on Wednesday. The Imam said, ’Amir al-Mu’minin (a.s.), has said, “Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Glorious, created hellfire on Wednesday; for this reason there is fasting to seek refuge thereby from the fire.’””

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘One fasting or while in the state of Ihram must not immerse his head in water.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘If a fasting person is afraid about the illness of his eyes, he is allowed to eat.’”

“I once asked one of the two Imam, abu Ja‘far, or abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about a patient who does not fast until the next month of Ramadan. He (the Imam) said, ‘If he became well but due to laziness did not fast before the next month of Ramadan, he must fast that (month of Ramadan) in which he is and pay a ransom of one mud of food to a destitute person and make Qada’ (compensatory fast) for what is missed. If he remains ill until the next month of Ramadan, he fasts during that which he can fast and pays a ransom of one mud of food to a destitute for what he has missed before. He is not obligated for any Qada’ (compensatory fasting) for what he has missed because of illness.”’

“Abu Ja‘far (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, named a people ‘disobedient’ when they fasted when he stopped fasting and reduced his Salat (prayer).’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘They are disobedient till this day and will remain so till the Day of Judgment. I know their children and the children of their children up to this, our day.’”

“I once asked abu Ja‘far (a.s.), about the case of a Muslim man who slaughters a sheep and mentions the name of Allah but because of sharpness of the knife he cuts off the head. He (the Imam) said, ‘If blood has come out you can use it for food.’”

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about an animal which is slaughtered facing a direction other than al-Qiblah (al-Ka‘bah). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not unlawful if it is not intentional.’ I then asked about a man who slaughters an animal without mentioning the name of Allah. He (the Imam) said, ‘If it is because of forgetfulness, he can mention the name of Allah when he remembers and say, ‘I begin with the name of Allah at the beginning and at the end.’”

“I once asked abu ‘ Abd Allah (a.s.), about an animal slaughtered by a child. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is acceptable if the child is intelligent, five shibr (a certain unit of measurement) in height and able to use the knife.’ About women he (the Imam) said, ‘If they are all women and no men among them, then the one most intelligent must slaughter and mention the name of Allah on the animal to be slaughtered.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), once said to Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim has stated this Hadith. ‘The milk, that kind of milk which is drawn first, eggs, hairs, wool, horns, teeth, hooves and everything separated from sheep and the stumper is clean but if you take such things after the animal dies then wash it and perform Salat (prayer) with it.’”

Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, prohibited eating fresh (raw) meat and said that beasts eat fresh meat, thus it must be used for food only after it is changed by sun or fire.’”

“One of the two Imam, (abu Ja‘far or abu ‘Abd Allah), ‘Alayhim al-Salam, has said that Amir al- Mu’minin issued a judgment in Yemen about a people on whom a house had collapsed and only two children were left, of whom one was owned and the other was free. He (the Imam) by means of raffle gave the assets to the one whose name came out and set the other one free.’”

“Abu Ja’far (a.s.), has said, ‘Accompany someone like yourself. Do not accompany one who suffices you; it is humiliation for a believing person.’”
