بسطام بن الحصين بن عبد الرحمن الجعفي ابن أخي خيثمة وإسماعيل. كان وجها في أصحابنا وأبوه وعمومته، وكان أوجههم إسماعيل. وهم بيت بالكوفة من جعفي، يقال لهم بنو أبي سبرة، منهم خيثمة بن عبد الرحمن صاحب عبد الله بن مسعود. له كتاب أخبرنا محمد بن جعفر الاديب قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد قال: حدثنا محمد بن مفضل بن إبراهيم قال: حدثنا محمد بن عمرو بن النعمان الجعفي قال: حدثنا بسطام بن الحصين بكتابه.

بسطام بن الحصين: قال النجاشي: " بسطام بن الحصين بن عبد الرحمان الجعفي، ابن أخي خيثمة وإسماعيل، كان وجيها في أصحابنا، وأبوه وعمومته وكان أوجههم إسماعيل، وهم بيت بالكوفة من جعفي يقال لهم بنو أبي سبرة، منهم خيثمة بن عبد الرحمان، صاحب عبد الله بن مسعود. له كتاب، أخبرنا محمد بن جعفر الأديب، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن سعيد، قال: حدثنا محمد بن مفضل بن إبراهيم، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عمرو ابن النعمان الجعفي، قال: حدثنا بسطام بن الحصين بكتابه ". أقول: ظاهر هذا الكلام، أن بسطام بن الحصين كان وجها في الرواة، وهو إن لم يدل على وثاقته فلا أقل من دلالته على حسنه. وذكره الشيخ في رجاله مع توصيفه بالكوفي، من أصحاب الصادق عليه السلام (76).
