7. A person told Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s.), “You did not perform Jihad as it was difficult and performed Hajj as it is easy.” Imam was resting his back against the wall. He sat up straight and said, “Woe be on you. The saying of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) at the time of the Last Hajj did not reach you. Surely, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) conveyed to people through Bilal at sunset to keep quiet. When people fell silent, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “The Almighty Allah has made this day blessed for you. He has forgiven righteous among you and accepted their intercession for those who sinned. Go away for you are forgiven and you have gained the pleasure of Allah for those among you who were sinners.”

Hadith.4479 - Imam Abu Ja'far Imam Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Baqir (as) said: "An Arab man should not marry a Muhajira woman (a woman who migrated for the sake of faith) and then take her out of the land of migration to the land of the Arabs."

Hadith.2397 - Abu Ayyub Al-Khazzaz and Abdullah ibn Sinan asked Abu Abdullah (as) about the saying of Allah (swt), the Exalted: "So when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah (swt)." (Surah Al-Jumu'ah 62:10) Imam (as) said: "The prayer refers to the day of Friday, and the dispersal refers to the day of Saturday."

And whatever is narrated from Ammar bin Marwan Al-Kalbi, I have narrated it from Muhammad bin Musa bin Al-Mutawakkil - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Abdullah bin Ja'far Al-Himyari, from Muhammad bin Al-Husayn bin Abi Al-Khattab, from Al-Hasan bin Mahbub, from Abu Ayyub Al-Khazzar, from Ammar bin Marwan.

Everything in this book that is narrated from Abu Ayyub Al-Khazzaz has been transmitted by me from Muhammad ibn Musa ibn Al-Mutawakkil - may Allah (swt) be pleased with him - from Abdullah ibn Jafar Al-Himyari, from Muhammad ibn Al-Husayn ibn Abi Al-Khattab, from Al-Hasan ibn Mahbub, from Abu Ayyub Ibrahim ibn Uthman Al-Khazzaz. It is also said that his name was Ibrahim ibn Isa.

“I heard abu Ja’far (a.s.) saying ‘How excellent are good deeds after evil deeds and how disgraceful are evil deeds after good deeds!”’

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, continued fasting for such a long time that people thought he would not discontinue it. He then discontinued fasting for such a long time that people thought he would not fast. Then he began fasting as Dawud (a.s.), did. One day he would fast and then not fast the next day. He left this practice and would fast three bright days (13, 14 and 15) of every month. He then left this practice and divided them by one day in each ten days of the month, of which two were Thursdays with a Wednesday between the two Thursdays. He passed away with this practice.”

“I once asked abu Ja’far (a.s.), about the case of a man who owed the freeing of a slave but he died before freeing a slave. His son then went to buy a man from his earnings and set him free on behalf of his father; the freed man earned an asset and then died; and about to whom belongs his legacy? He (the Imam) said, ‘If his father owed it because of Zihar, thanksgiving or it was obligatory on him then the freed is Sa’ibah (unconditionally freed slave) and no one has anything on him. If he found a guardian for himself from the Muslims before his death, who took upon himself his liabilities for his crimes, he is his guardian and heir; if no relatives of the freed man exists. If he did not find anyone of the Muslims as his guardian until he died, then his legacy is for the Imam of the Muslims if his relatives who can inherit him do not exist.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If his father owed the freeing of a slave for optional reasons and his father had commanded him to free for him a soul, then the guardianship of freed man belongs to all heirs of the deceased of the male ones.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘The one who buys and frees him because of the command of his father is like one of the heirs; if the freed does not have any relative among the Muslims who are free to inherit him.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘If his son buys the slave and frees for his father from his asset after his father, optionally on his behalf without any command from his father, then guardianship and legacy belongs to the one who bought the slave from his asset to be freed who freed him for his father. This applies only when the freed one has not left behind any relatives.’”

“I once asked Abu `Abd Allah (a.s.), ’Which kind of al-Hajj is more virtuous?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is al-Tamattu £ . How can there be anything more virtuous and the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, has said, “In future I certainly will not go back. I will do what people are doing.” (People did al-Tamattu £ and the Messenger of Allah performed Tfrad (Individual Hajj ).’” (see Chapter 27 h4 above)

“I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), about the case of a woman from our people whose brother has died and has said in his will to perform al-Hajj on his behalf. The woman who has performed al-Hajj said that if it is proper, she wants to perform al-Hajj on behalf of her brother, because she has a greater degree of priority to him than others do. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful if she performs al-Hajj on behalf of her brother. If she has any assets, she should perform from her own assets; it is of greater degree of reward for her.’”

“Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is not obligatory for women to say Talbiyah aloud.’”

The longer the Qunoot of a person in this world, the longer would be his peace in Mauqif (stages) on the Day of Judgment.”

“About the meaning of the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘. . . those who do not attend al-Zur . . .’ (25:72) abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), has said, ‘It is music (and singing).”’

“Muhammad ibn Muslim once asked abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), when I was listening, about a traveler who thinks to stay for ten days. He (the Imam) said, ‘He is required to perform his Salah (prayer) as complete. If he does not know for how long he will stay, like for one or more, he can count to thirty days, then perform his Salah (prayer) as complete even if thereafter he stays for one day or one Salah (prayer).’ Muhammad ibn Muslim then said, ‘I am told that you have said it is five.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, I had said that.’ Abu Ayyub has said that he said, ‘I pray to Allah to keep my soul in service for your cause, can it be less than five?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, it cannot be less than five.’”

“I heard abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) say, ‘“They ask you about the Spirit. Say, “The Spirit comes by the command of my Lord. . .” (17:85). The Imam (a.s.) said, “He is a creature greater than Jibril and Mika’il. He was present with anyone before except Muhammad (s.a.). He is present with the Imams (a.s.). He protects them. It is not that whatever is desired is found.”

“I once said to abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘When the time for obligatory Salah (prayer) comes, should I perform optional Salah (prayer) or begin the obligatory one?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is better to begin with obligatory. Al-Dhuhr is delayed to one yard from Zawal (declining of the sun toward the west at noontime) by one yard for Salah (prayer) of repentant people.’”

“I once asked abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘When the time for obligatory Salah (prayer) comes, can I perform optional Salah (prayer) or begin with obligatory Salah (prayer)?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is better to begin with the obligatory Salah (prayer).”’

“I once said to abu ’Abd Allah (a.s.), ‘I enter the toilet area and there is a ring on my hand with a name of the names of Allah, most High. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, do not go there with it and do not perform sexual intercourse when you are wearing it.’” It also is narrated that when washing because of using a toilet one must remove such ring from the hand with which one is washing.

“I explained to Imam abu ‘Abdallah (a.s.) saying ‘What is the matter with people who narrate from so and so from the holy Prophet (s.w) whom they do not accuse of telling lies and thing and from you facts against it comes to light? The Imam (a.s.) said, “Hadith becomes abrogated just as it happens with the holy Quran.’”

“I saw abu al-Hassan (a.s.), after slaughtering his offering and shaving applied musk to his head and visited the House wearing a shirt and he (the Imam) was for al-Tamattu‘ (advantageous).” NOTE: Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Isma‘il ibn Marrar from Yunus from abu Ayyub a similar Hadith.
