“Abu Ibrahim (a.s.), has said, sawiq and broth of cow meat remove al-Bars (Albinism) illness.’”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan, al-Awwal (a.s.), about the case of a man who has several sons, of whom one disappeared and he did not know where he was. The man died. What must be done with his share of legacy from his father? He (the Imam) said, ‘It must be kept aside until he comes? I then asked if there is Zakat on his assets. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, there is no Zakat until he comes? I then asked if he must pay Zakat when he comes. He (the Imam) said, ‘No, until one year passes with the asset in his possession? I then said, ‘The man is lost and he has not come back? He (the Imam) said, ‘If the heirs of the man can be trusted about his assets, they can distribute it among themselves and when he comes give it to him?”

“My father, Imam Sadiq (a.s), ordered me to go to Mafzal ibn- i-Amr, and express condolences upon the death of Ismail. He said: “Send my greetings to Mafzal and tell him that we were patient with Ismail, so you should be patient as we were. Indeed whenever we will something and God wills otherwise, we submit to God's will.

Prophet of God (a.s) stated that God the Almighty said: “Whoever interprets My Words according to his own viewpoint has no faith in Me. And whoever considers Me to be similar to My creatures does not recognize Me. And whoever makes comparisons in my religion does not believe in My religion.”

“What is the right of a father over his children?” He replied: “That he does not call him by his name, that he does not walk ahead of him, and he does not sit down before his father, and does not do something that might result in his father being sworn at.”

“The Prophet of God (a.s) liked gifts and considered them to be good and allowed. He took gifts and gave equal gifts in return.”

“I once asked the virtuous servant (a.s.), about the case of a woman who is young and women like her experience Hayd (menses). Her husband divorces her and her Hayd stops. How long is her waiting period? He (the Imam) said, ‘It is three months.’ I then said that she after three months became married and after going with her husband it was found that she is pregnant. He (the Imam) said, ‘This cannot happen, O ibn Hakim. Stoppage of Hayd is because of two reasons; it is because of disorder in Hayd in which case husbands were lawful for her, but she was not pregnant or that she is pregnant in which case it becomes apparent in three months because Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, has set a time for it in which time pregnancy becomes apparent.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if she has doubts?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Her ‘Iddah (waiting period) is nine months.’ I then said that she after nine months has doubts. He (the Imam) said, ‘Pregnancy is for nine months only.’ I then asked if she could marry. He (the Imam) said, ‘She must observe precaution for three months.’ I then said that she has doubts after three months.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘There is no doubt in her case, so she can marry if she wants.’”

“Abu al-Hassan, Musa (a.s.), has said, ‘Fortify your belongings by paying zakat.’”

“This is concerning my question before Allah’s virtuous servant (a.s.), about the case of my mother who has breastfed a girl along with me. He (the Imam) said, ‘She is your sister of breastfeeding.’ I then asked if she is lawful for my brother from my mother’s side whom she has not breastfed with his milk, that is not from this pregnancy but from another pregnancy. He (the Imam) asked, ‘Is the ‘impregnating agent’ (husband) one?’ I replied, ‘Yes, she is my sister from my parents.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Because of the milk of “impregnating agent” your father has become her father and your mother her mother.’”

“Abu Ibrahim, Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the price (money) received in exchange for real estate is a loss unless another piece of real estate is purchased therewith.”

“I once asked abu al-Hassan (a.s.), ’Can eighty dirham be given as Zakat to someone? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, and increase it.’ I then asked, ‘Can one hundred dirham be given as Zakat to someone?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, you can make him rich if you can do so.’”

“My son, you must work hard and do not allow your soul to lead you out of a feeling of always falling short in worshipping Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, and in obedience to Him; Allah is not worshipped as truly as He should be worshipped.”

“O Sabbah, if any of you likes to go on a journey he should stand at the door of his house facing the direction of his journey and recite Chapter one of the Holy Quran to his front, right and left. Chapters 114 and 113 to his front, right and left. Chapter 112 to his front, right and left, and verse 255 of Chapter two to his front, right and left, then say, ‘O Lord, protect me and that which is with me, keep me safe and that which is with me, help me and that which is with me arrive my destination in a good and beautiful manner.’ Allah will grant him protection, safety, good and beautiful arrival to him and that which is with him. Have you ever thought that a man is protected, is safe, arrives well but not that which is with him?”’

“The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Whoever rises in the morning and has no intention to do injustice to anyone Allah forgives his sins.”

“Friendliness is half of livelihood.”

A man’s striking his hand on his thigh, when suffering a misfortune, causes suspension of his rewards for his suffering.’”

“I asked the Imam, ‘Is everything in the book of Allah and the Sunnah of His messenger or you have a say in it?’ The Imam replied, “As a matter of fact, everything is in the book of Allah and the Sunnah of His messenger (s.a.)’”

Abu Al-Hassan the First (asws) replied, when I said to him (asws), ‘May I be sacrificed for you (asws), (its about) a man from our brethren, a matter has reached me about him which I dislike, so I ask about that but he denies that, and it has been informed to me from reliable people’. He (asws) said to me: ‘O Muhammad, deny your hearing and your vision about your brother even though fifty have testified in your presence under oath, and if he says something to you, so ratify him and belie them. Do not publicise anything against him which would disgrace him and destroy his magnanimity, for you will become those for whom Allah (azwj) has Said in His (azwj) Book: “[24:19] Surely (as for) those who love that scandal should circulate respecting those who believe, they shall have a grievous chastisement in this world and the hereafter; and Allah knows, while you do not know”.

“Allah’s holding people accountable remains unjustified without the Imam who would teach people about Him.”

“The first good thing that a father can do to his children is to give them good names. You must find a good name for (each of) your children.’”
